      Scott West Much to the dismay of George W. Trendle, who fired Moore and replaced him with John Long, only to find that viewers would not accept Long, forcing Trendle to rehire Moore for the final 2 seasons, which were shot in color.

      can be debatable ( but most people will say Moore is "real LR " ) but the "first live actor" was Lee Powell in 1938 and the next year it was Robert Livingston, and the first "official voice actor" for radio show was George Seaton

    • @hannahlydiajohnson9174
      @hannahlydiajohnson9174 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      John Hart was Clayton's replacement, sir. :) No, viewers did NOT like John as the LR. (Including myself). :) A job he was not cut out for.

    • @hanoc101
      @hanoc101 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. Nothing personal against Hart but he just didn't have what it took for the role. If anyone can truly be said to be born to play a particular role it's Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger.

      @@niapor have to disagree, there is only clayton Moore and his demeanor and perfect voice. Why did it take two actors to play the lone ranger in the two serials ? Buster crabbe played flash Gordon in 3 serials. George seaton might have had a good radio voice but Moore to this day is still beloved as the true lone ranger.

    I would not have recognized Martha Hyer as a young brunette, except for her voice, which, like Moore’s, is quite distinctive.

      Love that! :) Hanz Zimmer's new adaptation of the William Tell Overture for Disney's rotten new movie "The Lone Ranger" is simply ultimate...unbelievable!! But Clayton and Jay were the only ones who could ever portray John Reid and Tonto for me.

      Maybe, maybe not, but Marshal Reeves was quite a character! www.history.com/news/bass-reeves-real-lone-ranger-a-black-man

    • @JeffDeWitt
      @JeffDeWitt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just found this on IMDB. "At one time, speculation surfaced that The Lone Ranger was inspired by a U.S. Marshal named Bass Reeves, who worked in the Oklahoma Territory. Because the territory was largely Indian reservations, and therefore sovereign territory, Marshals had to be accompanied by a Native American, hence some suggested this was the inspiration for the character of Tonto. Despite a sterling reputation for maintaining law and order, even when it meant arresting his own son, Reeves was eventually driven from office when Jim Crow laws were passed. Unlike the television show, the real Bass Reeves was black. This myth, along with other speculative suggestions for the character's origin, was eventually debunked by re-examining the records of the Detroit radio station where The Lone Ranger radio show originated."

      No, the Lone Ranger was nothing to do with him.
      But you could make a real show of his exploits, all right. Quite a guy.
