Jock Mahoney was a great horseman & stuntman! He doubled for Errol Flynn in horseback sequences in the movie Rocky Mountain. He was one of my heroes as a very young kid! Still is!
Television viewers of the 50's, without the benefit of rewind, probably interpreted that gunfire at 2:34 as being a stray shot from the Range Rider himself shooting Harper in the back, since the camera panned toward him allowing only a brief glimpse of the bad guy aiming at him as he walked toward the back door! I was really confused when Range Rider was consoling the girl as if he had no responsibility for her dad being mowed down!
Pretty sure that was purposeful so Range Rider could enter the scene first. Dick Jones did a lot of comic falls in this series, only some of which are acknowledged by lingering shots or musical stings (hear those cymbals crash?). It was part of the character he was playing, as was that particular flailing run, whose main objective seemed to be make his falls look like a natural consequence of his movements. Dick Jones or else the writers, liked to use his talents as a stuntman for comedy more than drama. I will agree this show was really not into retakes though.
Our heroes get hit so many times in the face they should look like hamburger meat. But, not a scratch. In these old Westerns from the early 50's there are lots more fist fights than gun fights. Finally the late 50's/early 60's gave us lots more 'gun play' - characters killed every episode.
This is clearly a gay couple, the friendship is age-differentiated, the younger partner is strikingly handsome and highly deferential towards the older man who seems to have a leather fetish he even wears moccasins. Dick looks great in skin-tight black. Just kidding of course but the sudden plethora of younger sidekick/ boy sidekick westerns made my dad pretty suspicious. He's say things like "jeez do they check who makes these things." Talk about programming boys to the idea they should be in a close relationship with a dominant older male. Sounds paranoid but Dad was not anti-gay just experienced in the ways of the world and you know the older guy did not typically have a gf. RED RYDER gave him the creeps...the boy was about 10 poor Bobby Blake he needs a real home!

Hilarious. Amazing how the six shooters never run out of ammunition.
thats because they are sick shooters!
they run out after about 12 shots haha
As they rush the cabin at the three minute mark, "Dick Jones" trips and falls flat on his face just as they reach the cabin. No retakes, of corse.

His Side- kick should open a Poultry Farm..He's Always Fowlin-up big time an cant fight a fever😀😃😄
denver pyle again...that's the second time i've seen him on this show
The protagonist looks like Brendan Fraser!
3.95 for a fancy dress? Wow those were the days
When men earned about $1.00 a day and women made even less, $3,95 was a lot of money.
Dirt cheap
The side kick got knocked out three times in this show.
Long ago Kid-colt an Rawhide kidd used 9Mml that held 24shells
FAVOR PONER SUBTITULOS EN ESPAÑOL.
Does anyone recognize Denver Pyle?
The acting sucks but damn MaHoney does some stunts.
This is not "Let 'er buck", but "Secret of the Red Raven"
Young Master Gandalf
Gotta a sista named Shirley..Bigger en him.(Honeymooners)😃
Range Rider and Dick killed an innocent man. That was kind of rude.
i don't think they did...that dude they were chasing shot his buddy in the back
