Glad to hear that they're not done formatting the Encyclopedia as I would like to see consistency with actual USSR designations AND NATO code names across ALL USSR platforms. 2. The metal skin panel lines are a bit over done and need to be toned down (see the airliner at the 1:00 mark). But that's IT. Otherwise; superb job!

Gracia class FF, USS Iowa, Spruance DD, Belknap CG and Tico CG which had the old missle rails. I was on the USS Antietam which had VLS. I was surprised they didn't have the SH-60 Seahawk. Thanks for showing this.
I'm not sure the Seahawk was introduced during the time frame this game takes place in; it's mostly the '60s through early '80s, and everything i can find about the Seahawk shows an introduction in the mid-late '80s to replace the Seasprite in the LAMPS role.
I agree, this game cannot come any sooner. I'm an Electrician's mate board the Eisenhower and I cannot wait to use it in this game. What I'm upset with this video is that he totally skipped over the Nimitz class carrier man.
Same, that, and the Canadians. Surprised neither the RN nor the RCN feature in the game beyond the brits having the battle-class. Was really hoping we'd at least get the CP-107 Argus for maritime patrol aircraft.
I would be surprised if they don't add lots of new units, missions, and campaigns. When Cold Waters came out you could basically used like 6 or 7 USN boats and there were basically 2 campaigns and like 8 missions. It wasn't that long before they expanded all that to like 25 missions, like 10 or 12 different campaign scenarios, and they added in like probably close to 100 playable subs from the US, USSR, China, UK, France, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Japan, Australia.
Wow... I was surprised when I saw this. I thought "MiG 28" hell, there really is a MiG that looks like the F-5, never knew that. Just to find out right now that it indeed is an F-5, and the MiG 28 is fictional :D
I think the thing that impressed me most, is that most of the models and textures are really well done for a game of this scale. I was honestly not expecting some of the models to look as good as they do, especially this early in development. I'd be curious if they're using their own models, or outsourcing them, or using some sort of licensed models.
We build the models ourselves, all 2 of us :) Of course we're leveraging our earlier work done with Cold Waters + SCS but all older models had to be reworked significantly and updated to brand new codebase (ie. animations, new systems, weapons, mapping, new materials shaders workflow/textures etc) and had to have some corners here and there rounded, so to say. That said some CW models had to be rebuild almost from scratch.
I’m impressed they went the extra mile to model different types of freighters. They could have fairly easily just made a generic freighter ship and left it at that. I’m certainly not complaining about the fact they didn’t.
One oversight/opportunity I'm seeing here is that there's a lack of units to represent a falklands war scenario well. I hope that gets added in the future.
The devs have expressed their intent to make a DLC or update adding units of both British and other nationalities from both sides, unfortunately they weren't able to include everything at launch due to their limited manpower and massive workload
The CH-46E has a number of liveries attached to it, and the on that you showcased is pretty special, both to history and me personally. It's super neat to see it depicted in-game.
Game looks really promissiong. I really like that they didn't just add a dozend or so units and called it a day, like a lot of other naval games, but actually went the lengths to create a diverse envoirement with lots of units.
I would love to see when certain units entered IOC and when they were retired, would make creating period accurate missions a lot easier. Would also be cool to see different ships across their individual modernizations
Flanker is unlikely, it was introduced just the same year when the games campaign happens (1985) and was used as an air defense fighter at first quite far away from the theater I think F/A-18A was mentioned by devs coming later post-release
The MiG-29K and the Su-33 (the naval variant of each respective aircraft) was introduced too late in the game's campaign to be added. We might get the MiG-29 and the F-16 since they were introduced before 1985. I asked the devs about the Su-27 and they just replied with no. I'm just gonna wait for Mods that add the Flanker instead.

Interesting how many Soviet paper planes and the Orel-class was included but no Yak-36, Yak-141, or the Ulyanovsk class. More Soviet flying boats would be cool as well. The good thing is this game can be expanded vastly in the future to include other factions for different conflicts.
isnt the yak 141 much too modern? in wt, it has a super modern radar, and in real life, if it was actually put into service, it wouldve had r77s and r73s
The fact that they got Orel is a miracle in its own right, and literally only there so that the Soviet’s don’t get curb stomped for not having air power, also so that Soviet’s get naval air power
The list is already impressive, especially when factoring in the animating of each individual unit. It'll be interesting to see what units the devs add in early access, there's plenty of room for more... a good example would be that right now the red side has no IFV or APC. Then again, the fact that there are quite a few land-based assets and armor/artillery units at all is really good to see... come a long way from the TLAM missions of Cold Waters.
@@TheCobra114-o5e Problem is she sank off the grand banks. Same reason why it's not the Thresher class but rather the Permit class. Apparently several politicians' sons were aboard too.
For those confused about the Mig-28 - it was a Northrop T-38 Talon dressed up to look like a Soviet fighter and flone as the protagonist in the 1986 movie Top Gun. This was before the era of photo realistic CGI and before Constant Peg was declassified.
The breadth of assets is impressive. I'd love to see air refueling (KC-135/KC-10), tactical airdrop (C-130/C-141/C-17/C-5/MC-130), and Reconnaissance (RF-4/UAV/RC-135/U-2/SR-71) included.
I really hope they include Royal Canadian Navy in the future. Iroquois & Halifax Class!! And if Royal Navy has Type 22 Frigates and Type 42 Destroyers. Everyone on The Mighty Jingles is begging him to recreate his Gulf War action
This game Seapower reminds me of the naval game I played back in the day called Harpoon, but the name reminds me of Seapower II which was a naval miniatures game we played with Alnavco miniatures. Looking forward to seeing this game.
I hope possibly that some more Royal Navy ships and assets come around as the era of the game the uk used many aircraft and ship so be a nice addition.
We got Iowas and Kirovs! Not everyday for a modern naval war game to have an actual battleship from WW2 to make a comeback to fight in a modern war. Going to be interesting to see how they will fare in an era of anti ship missiles.
Really hoping to see the Ticos with VLS- Bunker Hill was comissioned into service in '86 so it's really well within the scope of the game's current time period (which seems to be largely mid 80s focused) to put it in game. It does seem like the devs seem quite 'balance' minded however given the Soviets have a fictional carrier and they're hessitant to introduce VLS, though perhaps that's just my read on it
I miss some units from Cold Waters, but the new stuff here goes way beyond that small loss. That is way more than I expected from an early release, particularly the small ships and auxiliaries that add depth to the strategic aspect of it all
You only spent a few seconds on each model and the video still took nearly forty minutes. Crazy to think there's still so much more they'll add even after all that.
Huge praise to the designers for such an extensive and beautifully modeled list. Love to see the Moskva and Su-15, two of my favorite pieces of Soviet kit. Only thing I'd like to see (other than royal navy expansion) might be a few more French aircraft, and the Tu-22 non M version, both for middle-east scenarios. Maybe my USN nuclear cruisers...
When an FFG is underway the four HF Whip Antenna's are lowered into the horizontal position for the Mk75 Gun Mount not to hit them with projectiles. They are raised when Flying Stations are in force.
Would love to see infantry added. I know its a naval based game but it would be fun to load marines up in the CH46s on the Tarawa to go and hit objectives as well
I'm not kidding when i'm saying that this game sits over a vein of gold. They can add a French DLC,an Italian DLC,a British DLC,a Chinese DLC,a Japanese DLC and updates with 90s armament, and this is basically scraping the surface

Kinda miss the Grumman Tracker and the Lockheed Neptune, but i understand you cannot have everything on launch 💪
I can't wait! I normally wait until a steam sale to buy a game but I am such a fan of Cold Waters I might break with tradition. And a scenario editor!
Interesting how many Soviet paper planes and the Orel-class was included but no Yak-36, Yak-141, or the Ulyanovsk class. More Soviet flying boats would be cool as well.
The good thing is this game can be expanded vastly in the future to include other factions for different conflicts.
Also noted that the Soviets got a lot of designs that were never produced :P
I guess they are needed to have interesting fleet on fleet scenarios
iirc the timeline for this is early 80s so the later yaks and Ulyanovsk are more out of the timeframe then the orel.
Probably trying to create a situation of parity for battles between the US and USSR
isnt the yak 141 much too modern? in wt, it has a super modern radar, and in real life, if it was actually put into service, it wouldve had r77s and r73s
The fact that they got Orel is a miracle in its own right, and literally only there so that the Soviet’s don’t get curb stomped for not having air power, also so that Soviet’s get naval air power
Thank you very much for this overview!
Kidd class. Nice. My old ride was DDG-994, USS Callaghan. Nice to see the ship class I served on represented.
Oh boy, what a hidden gem... It's literally Jane's Fleet Command reincarnated. Thank for the video, m8
The ability to give commands to the vehicles in the encyclopedia is a fun little touch.
Ok, from now on, every Cold War game that has aviation in their games must put in the Mig-28. They just gotta.
No red October tho 😢
@@TheCobra114-o5e Problem is she sank off the grand banks. Same reason why it's not the Thresher class but rather the Permit class. Apparently several politicians' sons were aboard too.
Really, really looking forward to this one. It’s been on my Steam wish list for 4 years 😊
For those confused about the Mig-28 - it was a Northrop T-38 Talon dressed up to look like a Soviet fighter and flone as the protagonist in the 1986 movie Top Gun. This was before the era of photo realistic CGI and before Constant Peg was declassified.
Oceanic Airlines truly an impeccable safety record… :3
1:15
I love that there's an Oceanic Airlines livery! Hollywood's no.1 go-to airline for hijacking and crashing... without getting sued, lol.
This is INSANE!
Cannot believe we are almost there.
The breadth of assets is impressive. I'd love to see air refueling (KC-135/KC-10), tactical airdrop (C-130/C-141/C-17/C-5/MC-130), and Reconnaissance (RF-4/UAV/RC-135/U-2/SR-71) included.
A fun video, thanks for posting all the units. Loved the "Crimson Tide" music in there too. ;)
Good job on the Oliver Hazard Perry class, mine was FFG -15 now in the Greek Navy
8:15 LOL, I guess you can recreate the scenario from Top Gun ;)
Man, i know better than to get this excited for a game, but here we are. Thanks for the coverage of this, Enigma.
The Tomcat flying with its Spoilerons both deflected upwards made me giggle. Probably a commentary on the state of the Iranian F-14s
I really hope they include Royal Canadian Navy in the future. Iroquois & Halifax Class!!
And if Royal Navy has Type 22 Frigates and Type 42 Destroyers. Everyone on The Mighty Jingles is begging him to recreate his Gulf War action
Seebee Ship spotted, Doctor Lykes is on it's way to island!
Awesome video, thanks for showcasing the Encylcopedia!
Haha Mig-28, I love it! I hope it has a full-black paint skin!
First game I have seen with Russian Trawlers, they used to shadow us. Harpoon didn't have them. Looking forward to the game.
I'm surprised there's not a Typhoon in game. Such a legendary boat.
We got Iowas and Kirovs!
Not everyday for a modern naval war game to have an actual battleship from WW2 to make a comeback to fight in a modern war.
Going to be interesting to see how they will fare in an era of anti ship missiles.
Iowas are gonna be fine with 4 CIWS and countless other shenanigans up it’s sleeves (armour etc)
Clash of the titans
Really hoping to see the Ticos with VLS- Bunker Hill was comissioned into service in '86 so it's really well within the scope of the game's current time period (which seems to be largely mid 80s focused) to put it in game. It does seem like the devs seem quite 'balance' minded however given the Soviets have a fictional carrier and they're hessitant to introduce VLS, though perhaps that's just my read on it
I hope they add more ground based stuff, I think the game has some huge potential to be a really nice cold-war sandbox
I love how this game includes submarines aircraft carriers warships etc and not just a few submarines and warships like other games
Some SERIOUS Harpoon vibes coming from this game/sim!!!
The models are incredible, they look so good
This game is going to be crazy, the open modding mindset from the devs is going to keep this game going for a very long time.
this looks fab.... I can see people doing missions based off RSR already... 😍
Thanks for this. It's a little disappointing not seeing Enterprise in the carrier list.
I hope the mission editor is slick to use. This looks a great sandbox sim.
That's cool they have the Austin class ships my grandfather served on USS Austin herself
When an FFG is underway the four HF Whip Antenna's are lowered into the horizontal position for the Mk75 Gun Mount not to hit them with projectiles. They are raised when Flying Stations are in force.
Would love to see infantry added. I know its a naval based game but it would be fun to load marines up in the CH46s on the Tarawa to go and hit objectives as well
Looks like a modern fleet command. I’m probably getting this!
I was also pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of the Su-15
The possibility are endless I can't wait and I hope they get the steam workshop up and working like they talked about
looking forward to this had no idea it was a few months out thanks!
so happy the games getting the more obscure aircraft as well
I'm not kidding when i'm saying that this game sits over a vein of gold.
They can add a French DLC,an Italian DLC,a British DLC,a Chinese DLC,a Japanese DLC and updates with 90s armament, and this is basically scraping the surface
Game looks very promising and comprehensive, can't wait to try it. It would be awesome to have some user created scenarios set in Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising universe. Here's hoping for a Falklands dlc/mod too after release, heroic sailors and aviators on both sides, they definitely deserve to be represented in a game for once.
29:30 The Kirov is such an utterly ridiculous ship. So much dakka, a missile battleship. In real-life its just so stupid, I love it.
This is great! It reminds me the classic Fleet Command from Jane's.
looks incredible. will it be possible to do scenarios of the early 70s or earlier?
Very excited for this game. Hope you make more videos about it in the future.
Planning to make more. Stay subscribed 🙏
@@Enigma89 will do, I came for DCS but stayed for Sea Power
