THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST AUTOMOTIVE TH-cam CHANNEL OUT THERE. CHAD, YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS. JOLENE IS SO SMART TO BE DOCUMENTING YOUR LIFE AS YOU WILL BE KNOWN AS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. I CAN'T THANK YOU BOTH ENOUGH FOR THE DAILY INSPIRATION. YOU GUYS ARE THE REAL DEAL.
I can't believe I just spent 45 minutes watching a guy sand a car. But you know what? I learned a lot. I have refinished cars and airplanes for over 40 years and the next one I do will be finished more quickly. Thanks Chad!
From me in the UK, I wish both of you, good health, peace and above all love and happiness!!! Clearly, Chad, you are in your own way; trying to demonstrate, how much you care and love Jolene. And believe you me. You are one lucky man. Stay safe and God bless both of you. Ameen.
3M makes a guide coat that is powder carbon black. It is applied with a foam applicator that will get into the smallest scratch. It isnt sticky or hard like a spray bomb. It is cheap and goes a long way. Works espcially good with the finer grits.
Gave my wife a rusted out 73 Mustang Fastback for her 40th. Spent a few years taking my time doing a full resto. Turned out beautiful. She's now 58, drove it maybe 50 times. I think she has driven my 68 Cutlass convertible more and I only finished that a few years ago
my dad is a old bodyman from Truro N.S he used gas to wipe a car down befor paint,it worked fine!! and I have been a bodyman since 1978 and still at it
IMO, I have found, when you find and see such pin holes or other imperfections, they must be marked with chalk or black marker, then and there when noticed or they could be lost or forgotten about.
Chad you are doing a great job on telling us about everything on getting a car ready for painting it. So thank you for doing the videos to share with us. God bless you Sir
This series has been such a great tutorial on everything in building a custom from the ground up, but the body and paint is blowing my mind. Chad is doing things so differently and explaining why so well I can’t believe I ever did things any other way. Getting ready to prep a plug for my custom two wheeler ( TH-cam @meteormotorcycle ) and this is a perfect time to see these and learn from someone who produces beautiful things quickly and with the least amount of work! Thanks Chad, and can’t wait to see the next video!
Thanks for showing the hard work you guys are putting into the cars you build, daily content on TH-cam is not an easy thing. Jolene, the placement of the Hiltz sign you are painting on the wall looks good. The more Hiltz logos the better as far as I am concerned, your brand is an important thing that speaks volumes.
Even though that's not traditional " body shop " process for prep for paint, which who cares right? I really like the way YOU simplify the process and it makes way more sense.
Having this video to show how it's done is so helpful! I have this job coming up soon and wonder: You like Featherfill. Is that because of the hardness or something else that makes it special? Also, you mentioned yesterday that at 200 grit it would be ready for Urethane. How do other paints differ from this? Thanks so much!!
when I was a teenager learning to be a painter my boss wanted speed and perfection at the same time which is a duel task, its usually one or the other or one before the other,I managed to put them both together by being Consistent and became an excellent painter with the speed of two people,
Agree, I built my lady a 20x24 deck because I don't have the skill to do what you do. My Dad does have collision shop and I've watched him do so many resto's I'm tired.
Time is money! It doesn't matter what trade your in. The end result should always be the to put out the best product in the fastest amount of time. The better you are and the fast you are translates into more money.
When doing body work on other people's vehicles I always ask, Would you like it eye clean or picture perfect ? Chad, do you use plastic razor blades to gloss up your primer for a reflective surface to see any discrepancies in your surface? Love you guys you are like family.
Hi Chad...I have only just discovered your videos mate and I must say I Love watching them and love your commentary as you work...I love doing body work on cars and am self taught and I will definitely now be using your tricks and methods...I am having a few issues with one door which has a very slight wave in it when I wet it and look down the side. It is still in the Primer Stage. Could I possibly get rid of the wavy look with a few more coats of high build primer ???....Thanks Chad...Keep up the Great Work...By the way The Bugatti is looking absolutely Beautiful :)
Is there any reason you stopped working on the chopped car? Maybe your focus is just this project. Learned so much from your fabricating. Excited to see what Jeff has for your interior.
Would someone please post a link of the first video of this Bugatti? So i can follow this build in totall. Can’t seem to find the first steps. Thanks in advance! The Netherlands 😎🚦🏁
Shouldn’t you take the windshield out to body work in around the seam? Bound to be some issues or possibly rust in behind it? There was with my camaro when I painted it
They have glaze ever coat to put in the pin holes that's what I used to put in the pin holes. I'm surprised you are not using a water pray bottle to see what the body is looking like with a shine to it and help see what the body is looking like. I know you done body work over 100xs but you know the ol saying is "Every day is a school day" Gene Windfild would say! If your not learning everyday your not learning.
Hey brother, I know your not just a talker at least you try not to be that's why I like you so much. U talk about how much you love your lady, well than, wear a bloody mask so you will be able to spend more time with her. Plus that is what a role model does that's all I'm doing here brother is doing exactly what you say, all the time! that is guess what ? speaking the truth.
Watching you "sculpt" that car is awe-inspiring, Chad; probably very similar to what those who saw a Rembrandt being painted felt. Who needs TV when there's guys like you (and Fitzee, D.D., Wray, Arco, Pete [if only Pete could tone down that !@#$%^ profanity some - I'd like to share this stuff w/ my young grandkids. . .]) willing to share their expertise. Thank you!
He can't talk and sand at the same time. I'm shire when the camera is turn off and he is cutting loose he has a mask on.? I'm hoping he is if he's not he can't be telling people how to do body work. Anything you do with power tools or not safety comes FIRST. No one want to end up in the E.R. EMERGENCY ROOM!!
Chad: Ever consider making a mold of that car body that you might sell ? (Yeah, most 'kit' cars might be looked down at, but there is that AC Cobra . . .)
So, 40, 80, Primer, Guide Coat, 220. But now Guide Coat and 80 and not 220? Because the grooves are too deep and you've to cut more primer than expected? Just to understand.
are you ever going to put that thing on the ground it looks like you never get nothing done then come checking out I'll come back in about and see if any things been done to that car

That is a very nice hand-built car Chad you're doing great work thanks for the videos

I usually start with one panel, when finished I go to next panel working my way around the car. I do that with every step or sanding procedure
Motivation! Finally started on my 79 caddy!
40/80 primer soon!! Thanks for everything!!! 💖
Put your Mask on Chad,We love ya
Your the man,
I appreciate you sharing your experience with us
Which I mean those who are willing to learn from
Someone who's been there and done that
Chad you are doing a great job on telling us about everything on getting a car ready for painting it. So thank you for doing the videos to share with us. God bless you Sir

I missed the live chat.out of all the car shows I think yours is the best
Thought of a one liner for a t shirt. 40 80 prime.

Most true statement brother if you don't take the time to learn how to use the tool how do you know you don't like it.
Even though that's not traditional " body shop " process for prep for paint, which who cares right? I really like the way YOU simplify the process and it makes way more sense.
your 1 in a million chad...there ins not enough people in the world like you
hard work and persistence always pays off
This proves how well guide coat works! I really enjoy your videos
Finally - good audio!! I've been avoiding watching a lot of your videos because of the bad audio - nice improvement!
This is going to be such a beautiful work of art! Good job Chad!
I like the way you thank the people . The wall of fame 👍

Your preparation process makes total sense, what will you do with the inside of the fenders? Looks just great very talented!
The most Interesting Car build in TH-cam History is leaping forward STILL !!!
when I was a teenager learning to be a painter my boss wanted speed and perfection at the same time which is a duel task, its usually one or the other or one before the other,I managed to put them both together by being Consistent and became an excellent painter with the speed of two people,
i would use a longer block with a bit flex, that short one is noo good....and use 120 grid from beginning and switch to 240 before goes too deep.
Agree, I built my lady a 20x24 deck because I don't have the skill to do what you do. My Dad does have collision shop and I've watched him do so many resto's I'm tired.
Not as easy as it looks .

Just wondering what you use for priming gun and tip size to spray ever coat

Thanks for explaining what guide coat gets you
When you sand it of it will show you low spots/not smooth
You do what you know how to do everyone has different skills and different levels of life but at least your able to do something nice for your fiancée
Would someone please post a link of the first video of this Bugatti? So i can follow this build in totall. Can’t seem to find the first steps. Thanks in advance! The Netherlands 😎🚦🏁

Nice Well Done Chad and Jolene
Shouldn’t you take the windshield out to body work in around the seam? Bound to be some issues or possibly rust in behind it? There was with my camaro when I painted it

You slid over the 60 mark on the subs, nice................. :)

Chad for the love of God put a mask on when your sanding with the 8inch sander. Masks are cheap lungs aren't.
He can't talk and sand at the same time. I'm shire when the camera is turn off and he is cutting loose he has a mask on.? I'm hoping he is if he's not he can't be telling people how to do body work. Good information thanks have a good day
Another good video. Thanks from another Maritimer.
When you get to tight places sanding why would a person not use a palm sander just to be a little quicker ,
Amazing work jolene and chad
Does she have a color picked out yet.
Chad: Ever consider making a mold of that car body that you might sell ? (Yeah, most 'kit' cars might be looked down at, but there is that AC Cobra . . .)

Where is this car today June 2021..?

The epoxy is to seal it so I don’t rust

Hello for Edwardsville,Illinois USA.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
Edwardsville , Pa. U.S.A.
How can you explain to the audience that it is hard to talk to them with a mask 😷 on. Good job buddy.
At half an hour per day, are we looking at a couple of years before we see the finished product?
Lookin Good
Thanks
