7:15 I feel like the SIMPLEST test to find out if somebody is a good person or not is whether they bother to take their trolley back. Especially when they are like a metre away from the bay

I don't know what mental gymnastics you have to do to decide to put it there instead of just you know, in a trolley bay?

Its kind of complex, as social critters we tend to conform into what society expects us to do and demonstrated behaviour. So if we see a car park covered in trolley's and crap everywhere we might might not feel pressured to give a damn, but if there's regular places for the trolleys and people are putting them in there, they generally will. The far end of the fringe of behaviour though is the people who don't and will not under any circumstances and the people who feel its far too inconvenient to return them.
Now in the case of the never returner, he/she is selfish when it comes to their own goals and the inconvenience non returner has weighed up the pressure of not returning vs the stress of having to deal with something else (time, distance, disability etc) and the non returning works out that the trolley loses. In terms of the not returners reasons, well they might have some valid reasons, like I have to go my house is on fire all the way down to I'm running late to pick up the kids from school.
(Hint- kids don't give a shit if you're there on time or not)
It basically works with littering as well, which is were most of this comes from, you see in some countries the normal act is to dump as its 'someone elses problem/job' to pick it up all the way through to more civilised places where its your responsibility to pick up your junk.

      All are interlinked.
Brand new tar has a surplus of oils.
Brand new tyres may have not worn in to a rough surface to give grip.
Old tyres are hard and have less grip.
Bald tyres work well on hot dry seal.
They hydroplane on cold wet surfaces.
that's why accident investiogators do road surface testing, tyre testing, brake testing and they examine the ECU records of the vehicle...

Excess is actually payable on every claim regardless of who is at fault. Just that most of the time the insurance company will waive that however they are under no obligation to do so. Also the value of your vehicle will be reduced and if you get a replacement car during repairs you will have an excess of at least $2000 on that with the condition of excess is payable and only returned when they recover from the other party. As anyone who has ever been a mechanic. It is SO satisfying to see all the spins in the wet. 90% of them are doing the same speed as everybody else, including the camera car, but even the slightest moisture, around they go. As an ex-mechanic, you can't help but check everyone's tyres every time you stop. It still surprises and pisses me off. Just how many people are getting around on completely bald or obviously WAY under pressure tyres. Other than functioning brakes, there is nothing more important on your car. And it's so easy to get right. It's one payment every 30-40,000km. Then 1 minute of your time, every second tank of gas if you're completely lazy and forgetful by any other measure! You're already at the servo for your life's sake!

    • @111jacare
      @111jacare ปีที่แล้ว

Hate to say it, but, am very lazy!!! Every 5,000 km, go to the tyre shop that supplied and fitted my tyres. Rotate the tyre positions, including the spare, and top up the pressures to 2 p.s.i. above recommended. Also try and avoid at all costs of hitting any kerbs with any of the wheels. Tyre shop, when they supply 5 tyres, put the car on the wheel alignment, and usually a very minor adjustment required. They tell me that it is due to wear and tear.

      @secretsquirrel9722 ปีที่แล้ว

@stephen2497 do you ever go all the way to the effort of writing out a response in outrage to the smallest thing. Then think, maybe I shouldn't show the world just how stupid I am?
If you want to get into semantics. "Ex-mechanic" is not great English. But this is hardly the forum to display my expansive vocabulary. What it is is a fast way to express that I was once a master technician that moved off the floor into management. Before leaving the trade all together 14 years ago. I haven't worked as a "mechanic" for over 16 years now!
To any other person on the planet. It would make perfect sense.
      Ex-mechanic = used to be a mechanic.
But to you, you pedantic prick. I have no idea what reference to some non-existent xe-wife or a diploma have to do with anything if that was supposed to be some sick burn. You require a certificate 3 in automotive light vehicle to become a mechanic in Australia. Leagues apart from a diploma!
"You're either a mechanic or your not"?
A mechanic is a trade/career. It is not who you are! It is a job you do. A great job in what is (in my opinion) a crap industry. I'm not sure what you're aggressively insinuating with your comment. Are you saying that because it is no longer my current profession that I can no longer identify that it once was. That I still retain an extensive knowledge to the point that I still work on my own cars, my families cars and occasionally diagnose cars for acquaintances when they have been to multiple other shops who have failed to find the fault, for fun.
Or are you saying that, because that is once how I earnt money. That I will always be a mechanic? That's rubbish. I would never insult a currently practising (quality) mechanic by saying I am still one. I could re-enter the trade at any time with my qualifications and ability but I wouldn't be anywhere near up to speed after not actively practising on the floor for over 16 years now.
      Either argument is equally stupid!
If I said I was once a child. So I know what it's like to be a child.
Would you argue, "You're either a child or you aren't"?
      You fucking moron!
I was one. I still have that knowledge all these years later that still applies today when I talk with any other child. Or any other adult when discussing a child or when we were children ourselves.
But because I was one, doesn't mean I am one now. Nor does being an adult mean that I don't remember or make me incapable of being childish now
Just like this over the top response to an insignificant moron!

    7:12 I am reminded of a 4chan post
the shopping trolley is the ultimate litmus test for whether a person is capable of self-governing.
To return the shopping trolley is an easy, convenient task and one which we all recognize as the correct, appropriate thing to do.
To return the shopping trolley is objectively right. There are no situations other than dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their trolley.
Simultaneously, it is not illegal to abandon your shopping trolley. Therefore the shopping trolley presents itself as the apex example of whether a person will do what is right without being forced to do it.
No one will punish you for not returning the shopping Trolley, no one will fine you or kill you for not returning the shopping trolley, you gain nothing by returning the shopping trolley.
You must return the shopping trolley out of the goodness of your own heart. You must return the shopping trolley because it is the right thing to do. Because it is correct.
A person who is unable (or unwilling) to do this simple task is no better than an animal, an absolute savage who can only be made to do what is right by threatening them with a law and the force that stands behind it.
The Shopping Trolley is what determines whether a person is a good or bad member of society.

4:50 it’s a give way not a stop , and the Ute still had plenty of room. Why is it so hard for people to understand that to merge with traffic going 80 Ks + you need to be travelling at 80ks + . If you’re not a confident driver maybe take a few driver training courses and stop being a hazard on the road.

Drivers in Australia are getting worse, each week even more so!
Russian drivers at least can claim black ice, or snow, slush on their roads! But what's our excuse?
Empty headed (thoughtless/entitled so and so's) drivers/shoppers/pedestrians have nothing but my complete and utter contempt.
We Aussies used to look out for other road users welfare/safety; indicate if a roo was on the side of the road; wave to each other as we passed, to let each other know we were alright, and to share a smile of mateship.
Someone or some-thing has changed us, and the unwritten ethics/rules of sharing the roads!
Our vehicles may have more designed and built in safety features, but the nuts behind the wheels need sorting, their populations are exploding, daily by the looks.
I'm absolutely mortified by what I've been watching on this channel the last several years, people have lost self control, not to mention control of their cars.

It's a pity the road safety authorities and police don't educate more about driving to conditions. Instead it's all "speeding over the limit is bad". Most of those losing it in the wet wouldn't have been speeding, but have no idea that wet roads have less grip and you have to drive differently to when it's dry.
