It is best practice to reverse into a carpark or blind driveway. (Almost no-one does this). You have finer control because your front wheels give you more precise positioning of your vehicle. If you find it difficult to reverse into a carpark or driveway due to heavy traffic or visual obstructions, imagine how difficult it would be to reverse out into heavy traffic or visual obstructions!
After 50 year of driving , including in Europe, I've come to two conclusions. One, I don't want to drive anymore while these self entitled knuckle draggers are out there and Two, EVERY set of traffic lights should have red light cameras.
Time over distance shows lady at 17:50 doing 100kmh in a 80 zone, Doesn't justify pedestrian on bike running red man but slow the fuck down. She travelled 86m in just under 2 seconds which calculates to 97kmh ish
Why doesn’t the DC’er beep their horn and make a scene whilst the Disco is reversing at 2:50 instead of just sitting there and watching it crash into another car? Ok, there’s no audio but still, madly beeping your horn would attract everyone’s attention.
Hi, DC'er here the lady in the white car was honking and I was frantically waving at her once I saw her continuing to reverse (you can kinda see my hands in the reflection on the windscreen), she was for the most part just staring at her right-hand side mirror not once checking her left mirror while she was reversing only looking in over her shoulder when we started to alert her. I will say it felt like it all happened a lot quicker at the time and looking at it again I could have rolled my window down to wave at her better to get her attention and I do feel bad for not doing more like honking like a mad man lol. I'm guessing it's a moving worksite 🤷 Either way, stupid idea since people 5 or 6 cars back probably can't see the signs. And even at the front of the queue, what does "do not overtake" mean when the thing you're stopped at looks like a roadwork barrier, not a moving vehicle? I honestly couldn't figure out WTF we were looking at, then I couldn't figure out where the stop sign or red light was... As far as I can tell, the Australian standards for roadwork traffic control include stopping traffic with a stop sign or traffic light, not a display board saying "do not overtake".
Its a necessity with health and safety rules. Lots of traffic controllers die because of uncontrolled cars. They have to set the site up on 100km/h roads so they need a shadow vehicle to keep vehicles behind. Sometimes there’s no where safe to pull up because of v drains, soft shoulders so they have no choice but to stop on the road.
@@tin2001 It's an Attenuator or a TMA. It's a truck with crash barriers mounted on the back used for high volume or high risk roads. For my job I'm often using them or smaller ones on local roads under what's called "Mobile Operations". The amount of idiots that disobey the traffic management is crazy, and this is what causes deaths of road workers. If one of these trucks show a flashing cross or literally say "Do Not Pass", you legally must comply and NOT pass them until you are told you can by the crew. Trust me, we don't want to hold you up any more than we have to, but work, whatever it may be, needs to be done, and safely. @@lesstockley4937 admittedly im going of NZs road rules instead of australias, but I believe they are extremely similar to each other From what I see, the road layout is a bit confusing. But DC is in the left lane, and pulls into the left lane which goes direct left. He has to cross the right lane to go right. White car pulls into right lane, which even if the initial merge into that lane was wrong (im not sure, it is again hard to tell the road layout from just this clip) however, once they were in that is very clearly open to go in either direction, So from my perspective, DC is cutting across a lane to go right, and even if his lane does allow that you arent allowed to just plough through a car that is making what according to the layout of the road markings is a 100% legal turn.

Ok, there’s no audio but still, madly beeping your horn would attract everyone’s attention.
I've been watching these videos for years. Some people are completely oblivious to horns.
11:16 how long does this work last for? I can't imagine people willing to wait around for more than a minute or two.
I'm guessing it's a moving worksite 🤷
Either way, stupid idea since people 5 or 6 cars back probably can't see the signs.
The amount of idiots that disobey the traffic management is crazy, and this is what causes deaths of road workers. Trust me, we don't want to hold you up any more than we have to, but work, whatever it may be, needs to be done, and safely. @@lesstockley4937 admittedly im going of NZs road rules instead of australias, but I believe they are extremely similar to each other
From what I see, the road layout is a bit confusing. But DC is in the left lane, and pulls into the left lane which goes direct left. He has to cross the right lane to go right.
White car pulls into right lane, which even if the initial merge into that lane was wrong (im not sure, it is again hard to tell the road layout from just this clip) however, once they were in that is very clearly open to go in either direction,
So from my perspective, DC is cutting across a lane to go right, and even if his lane does allow that you arent allowed to just plough through a car that is making what according to the layout of the road markings is a 100% legal turn.
