My third time coming back to this video. There'll be a hiccup in my cable internet for a few weeks, so I'll be hot-spotting through my phone. I'm gathering low-altitude rolling cache of designated areas during the next couple days in a fast, zig-zagging plane. Then I'll fly them at my leisure in bush and stunt planes. Incidentally, The Bonneville Salt Flats is a great place to practice STOL, skimming, inverted, etc. Arid, solid horizon line, and absolutely flat. Sky-writing is a special gas. But I digress. I'm more confident in the rolling process than using the manual function. I'll post and update regarding the results. Thanks again, Mr. Huddison. Not only have you influenced my learning curve, but my social perspective as well. I actually fly "live" sometimes. Now, if only I could find a Jennifer Love Hewitt avatar, I'd turn on the copilot, too. Literally. Be well. Respects.

Great video as usual Huddison!! Thanks for the shout out on the Livery.. lol Haven't done liveries in a while now. So glad you're enjoying it to this day! 😎
Anyway, As some have eluded to, yes, the rolling cache is "Rolling" meaning when it's full, it will overwrite the oldest existing data with new scenery if you fly to many places.
So if you spent a week flying in London, then a week in Scotland or wherever, you may have to "RE-render" London in the rolling cache.
Also, as some earlier mentioned, That field is the "Murray Bergtraum Softball Field" Associated with the Murray Bergtraum High School for business.
Great explanations as usual my friend!
Hope you're staying safe with the heat issues in London area, and the fires aren't near you.

When I manually cached central Tokyo at high quality it took 7 Gigs.
Just central, none of the surrounding cities or suburbs.
If you want the rolling cache to work across a city (or especially more than one city) I would give it at least 64GB.

Nice, it might help me fly over my house in West London without it looking like a blitz survivor.
Just FTR we don't call it downtown London. They did try and rebrand some of London as midtown back in 2010 but people tutted so it never caught on. ;)

Thanks. I'll have to experiment with this again. I fly in VR only. Oh, speaking of Lady Liberty. Can you image how awesome it is to orbit her in real life? A few years ago, I flew a Cessna Skyhawk (172SP) around her at 800 AGL! Counter-clockwise orbits. What a treat. 😅 A couple of orbits, then over Governor's Island, East River Northbound with permission from LaGuardia tower. ATC instructed me to climb to 1500 MSL (Bravo airspace), then allowed me to cross Central Park to rejoin the Hudson River northbound. An absolute thrill flying in this area and I'm so fortunate. That baseball field near the Manhattan Bridge was definitely not Yankee Stadium, lol. I'm not sure which one it is, but I think it's just a local field. Yankee stadium and City Field are the two major baseball stadiums in NYC. They are further northeast of where you were in the video. Baseball bores the heck out of me, haha. When I was a kid, I was in summer camp and went to a game at Shea Stadium (City Field was built years later to replace it). The only thing I remember enjoying about that trip, was watching the airplanes departing and landing at LaGuardia Airport (right next to the stadium). 😂

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  ปีที่แล้ว

I love Baseball personally; although I'm not a huge fan of cricket strangely enough!

That's great. Yes it's a highly popular sport and major form of entertainment. Yeah I've never been a sports guy, but I understand. I guess the closest I can relate to sports is my occasional enjoyment of an Indy car race and the Redbull air race. 😅. I got my PPL at Teterboro airport (KTEB) in New Jersey in 1998 and my very first flight was a scenic flight over the Hudson at 1000 AGL. I fell in love with the area and made several trips along the route over the years!

Another interesting video, thanks. However, on X-Box at least, I have found that unless you fly over the same area more that once, the RC does nothing at all. I currently am flying loads of different routes in my TBM930 and have had the RC turned off for some time now. I tend to stay out of London presently as it can cause CTD's on the x-box, hoping SU10 will help fix that. One other thing - the recommended cache size is 16gb, its in the Microsoft notes somewhere. Happy flying ;)

Xbox Series X here. 100MB/sec and I run default 8GB rolling Cache and flying the Asobo Cessna 172S over London I get no pop up, no melting of buildings and a much higher frame rate than what I see there with rolling cache off or on. And the runway centreline is all pixelated? I did notice you have vehicles on the ground on. I run no vehicles, fauna or boats etc......... They are for FS 2032 when we have 100 times the computational power in the current 2022.

Interesting video about the cache file, thanks. What about the manual cache. I selected the London area in high resolution for downloading (I have a 20 MBit connection at the moment). It took about 20 minutes to download a little over 100 MB (!). I don't know what it downloaded, apparently not gigabytes of data. My idea is to download the photogrammetry data of the area of interest in a cache file, so not to rely on your internet speed when flying over, so a one and done download for that area, until you run out of disk space.
And what about saving the rolling cache file for a particular area, and rename it to a manual cache file, in order to have various cache files for places of interest. Would that work?

Microsoft should allow us to download the data onto our hard drives for major cities. Large siris I am on using a 7900 XDX in Intel 10 900k. And cities still always lag why not allow the user to download the data to enjoy the game at its fullest

@@Huddison I'm on PC, The rolling cache would just go 100% in a split second & freeze up then I had to restart MSFS,it never did that until update 10 & it took around 5 minutes for that but it didn't do the 100% this time I think I got it.Looks like it works now, must be a glitch

Like your very helpful videos but you keep jerking the camera around in this one that I can't focus on what you were trying to show us, its quite annoying keep moving the view around.
