Even in training we can See tsitsipas is the best player on tour Nothing can stop him and especially not crybaby zverev that never wins a major What a year by the young greek
Sadly I agree... he is my favorite player but it hurts watching play on fast courts cuz he can’t hit a backhand past the service line consistently at all and his slice does not do enough... his forehand and serve is amazing and same for net skills... hoping his backhand gets better so he can be fully complete and win slams
@Dwilshire7 i dont think that is fair to say... he has proven himself a capable player and a person who tries to improve their game... he has had an incredible clay season (winning his first masters 1000, nearly beating nadal, and making it to the french open final)... just because he posts on instagram alot does not change his dedication (look at people like wawrinka, djokovic, etc.)... Some one who does not have heart in the game do not get to the level he does and show as much emotion on court as he does... I will say this, having his dad as his coach is troublesome to me because his dad has literally said that he prefers not to coach mechanics to stephanos... he claims that tsitsipas has a beautiful backhand (but we know this to be not so true)... his forehand is good tho...
@Dwilshire7 Well also you have to think about the difficulties of changing a backhand... his game revolves around his forehand and net play... if you recall, a few years ago his forehand was really good but he shanked it as often as his backhand... he now has very different technique on his forehand and his serve position has improved... his results went up due to this... this shows that he has the desire to improve as he showed this with his forehand... his one handed backhand is slightly different though because his game style revolves around him moving to his forehand (that is also why he does not hit as many backhands in a rally as others)... this game style is common with one handed players (federer plays this way and grigor did too)... federer and grigor went through a very long 6-10 year period of bad backhands also... so why is Tsitsipas not changing his backhand? Ill answer... 1. his game style puts less use of the backhand in generally, making it not as important as other parts of his game (this means he will focus more on building his strengths than fixing his weakness aka his backhand) 2. short off season (the tennis off season does not give players enough time to completely change technique. Tsitsipas has most likely used his backhand like this his whole life... in order to change his backhand he would have to break 18+ years of technique in basically a month each year... due to this I would say if he does fix his issue it will take atleast 3 more years minimum) 3. Tsitsipas has been gaining progress on tour even with his backhand (his recent showing in the grandslam final this year and new masters 1000 title display this... this year is arguably his best year and he has also shown one of the best clay seasons to date outside of people like nadal and djokovic... so obivously his methods are working) 4. It is a one handed backhand (I know one handed backhands are cool but there are only a few historical powerful one handed backhands when compared to two handers... wawrinka, thiem, etc... due to this I do not think Tsitsipas will ever reach their level of backhands... I would expect at most tstisipas will achieve kohlschreiber or federer level one hander) 5. His focus is not on grass courts or fast hard courts (In an interview with his coach, his coach stated that their goal was always the french open or australian open due to tsitsipas's success... on these courts, backhands are not as important because he can get away with floating the backhand rather than needing to drive it... combine this with a serve and volley/ agressive baseline player and tsitsipas does not need that much of a backhand) I agree that maybe Tsitsipas is ignoring the backhand but I do not think it is due to him wanting to be an instagram model or lack of heart... no player who achieves what he has during the big 3 dominance has a lack of heart or focus... I would say he is trying to fix his backhand because he has to know it is an issue (it is his backhand after all)... he is just not as worried with it because he does not rely on it and also it is hard to change technique fast while on tour or in off season
@Dwilshire7 Tsitsipas had a tough draw at RG... dont know what you mean about his draw being weak... He had to play carreno busta (who just got a medal at the olympics and beat djokovic for it), medvedev (who is very good), Zverev (who won a masters 1000 title on clay just before RG and is great on clay), and Djokovic (who he could have beaten but Djokovic played too good in the third and fourth set). Djokovic had it pretty easy becuase most players he had to beat were unexperienced in major tournaments except beretinni and Nadal (which is obviously the hardest match up possible)... Tsitsipas could have beaten nadal on at RG honestly because they have a pretty even head to head on clay for the most part (nadal has a slight lead) and Tsitsipas nearly beat him earlier like 2 tournaments ago on clay (like 2 cm off from the line and would have won).
@Dwilshire7 I will agree with you on his mental issues on court though... his play style is aggressive and when he starts to get mentally weak he will fall apart (just like zverev and federer at times) due to the lack on confidence in plays and shots. He is definitely childish when it comes to getting angry... he has a lot of outbursts and racket throwing (although the majority of players in his gen do to)... I do not know if he will improve in this department... Djokovic was similar to Tsitsipas at his age but the thing is Tsitsipas is just not Djokovic... Djokovic overcame most of it (although it shows time to time such as the Olympics when he broke mentally and blew a 6-1 3-2 lead to Zverev earlier this week) and now is super clutch when under pressure. Tsitsipas is the opposite in the mentality department... he has always had issues there and continues to do so... some people are just like that so we have to accept their skill and abilities and try to ignore how rash they can be... He does show moments of mental clarity when he is playing well (like his clay season this year or the australian open against nadal) so maybe there is a chance... Bottom line is do not say he will not improve in any certain department because he is continuing to improve in so many aspects right now... that is why his ranking is the highest it has been the last 2-3 years (he is number 4 in the world)
It was more a media narrative , they needed the " two best youngsters around rivalry", but after 2019 Laver Cup a lot of things changed, their relationship is ok, they're not best friends but I mean, it works... The bad feelings are among Stefanos and Daniil, that is something real at personal level not just a media invention.

@@tungt88 Ruud is a great clay court player, and I am a fan of his. But he lacks weapons. Ruud has better strategy on clay than many of these young guys.
