I ate a lot of fish finger and chip sarnies in the 70's (but not both together) and it takes me back to watching Saturday night TV in the mid 70's. We're more alike than one might expect because those grilled cheese and fish and *fries* sandwiches scream rural America and they just felt so delightfully familiar. Great video! Immensely enjoyable. As a child of the early 1980s, Lucy's sandwich brings me feelings of nostalgia. I think James has the year spot on at 1978, because the fish finger sandwich felt like it had it's moment in the sun a little before my time. Fish fingers are on the shopping list now. Great job everyone!

In 1978 my closest Chip Shop was a village, not in a village the village was called Chip Shop, not very near a larger village called Chillerton, neither of which had a chip shop! It was an 8 mile drive to an actual chip shop that closed by 7 pm. Needless to say we didn't go to chip shops very often.
That said, my Dad grew our potatoes, my Mum cooked chips using a mix of pork and beef lard, and once in a while threw in a lump of dripping for added flavour. I don't remember ever eating fish fingers as a child, but we had the best chip butties on the planet.
Now I live in a country that serves whole fish (mostly fresh water not salt water) grilled, doesn't sell fish fingers at all, makes bread that is a little too sweet, and thinks french fries from McD/KFC are chips. But I've lost 5 stones since moving here so... 😄

Why have I watched a number of these videos but this is the first I’ve seen of Rachel? She’s great! Took criticism well while also giving constructive criticism in saying the texture was too homogeneous in her opponent’s sandwich while also being clear that she really did enjoy it. I didn’t feel any undue bias from her and certainly someone considerate enough to work with in such a small kitchen.
