I agree with Lucy's assessment. Industrial for breakfast, posh for lunch. But we all know that breakfast food is always the best food.

Aww I love the bond and friendship that Lucy and James have in these videos. Sorry that sounds weird but I always want to meet James, Jeremy and Richard. I have always looked up to them watching Top Gear and The Grand Tour. They will always be in my heart and they are amazing too. Love the channel and best wishes

Yes, I did my own experiments on this a while back. Posh bread or normal sliced white bread? Toasted or untoasted? With butter or without butter? Ketchup or other condiments/relishes? Anything else, like gherkins, jalapenos, rocket, lettuce? I went through all of these considerations.
I found the best bacon sandwich is one made from normal untoasted white bread, butter, ketchup, and well done, leave-the-fat on bacon. That's it. There is beauty in the simplicity.
I do agree. Supermarket white bread, when fresh, is also the best for fish finger sandwiches, with mayo and perhaps a layer of butterhead lettuce.
No one talking about how Tom was asked how he would like the sandwich cut.. but never given the sandwich :/

I've been watching all of these, and Lucy has really grown as a presenter. Her and James definitely have a father/daughter chemistry on camera.

Pork fat doesn't care. A y contaminants are pretty well fries after that. Lurpak is cold, as is everything else. Then again, wiping the knife on a cloth dies fuckakl for cross contamination.

Lurpack (the company) was formed from a grouping of several different Danish dairies in 1901. Lurpack spreadable came along 90 years later in 1991 :) .
Lucy's sandwich wins less than 1:30 in. Classic BLT with a fancy twist. Delicious!
I. The US. I just order 10 lbs of Lurpak butter because of these videos and it was the smallest I could get. Love James May.

Crispy streaky bacon on a lightly toasted teacake with a drizzle of brown sauce (not HP). The savoury of the bacon contrasts with the sweetness of the raisins in the teacake. Beautiful. P.S. rocket is rank

My favourite bacon samey, bread put in the toasted sandwich maker and flattened and toasted like about 2mm thick, cool, put on crispy streaky bacon, thinly cut tomato, black pepper, white pepper and a very finely ground sprinkle of Himalayan salt, yummy.
Dress it up a bit for lunch with finely cut onions and grated cheese, jam it all under the grill.

This is certainly an each to their own kinda thing, for me I love a bacon sandwich to be just that. bacon, bread butter and hp (brown) sauce for me, although I love my bacon to be more crispy with the fat rendered to be nice n crisp. Just a tiniest bit of oil in the pan the rest cooks from the fat. Also on the odd occasion throw a partially runny egg on top if I'm feeling a little more hungry.
I'd take Lucy's bread and bacon, James's Ketchup and butter and lack of extras

Nothing beats the 8am council issue bacon sarnie. Reminds me of early shifts, long drives to the airport, and nasty hangovers.
First job I got at 17 was in a warehouse. Had to put your order in in the morning for the 10am break. Fab bacon sarnie and a cuppa.

The same bread, or equivalent, that you used - lightly toasted (optional). 2}. Streaky bacon - of course! 3) A generous amount of peanut butter spread onto each slice of bread. 4) Perfectly cooked afore mentioned bacon stacked onto 1 slice of bread. 5). For the gourmet option - iceberg lettuce stacked onto the bacon. 6) Cover with the other slice of bread. 7). Eat and thou shall be fully fueled for many more hours of industrial work.

I prefer an "Industrial Deluxe". Pork Belly Bacon, white bread, Miracle Whip, Black Pepper (on the Miracle Whip, Iceberg Lettuce, and Beefsteak Tomato. Accompany with rippled Crisps and sliced Dill Pickle. That's lunch for a working man!

You can make the hard butter softer by mushing it before you try to spread it.

James made a bacon sandwich. Lucy made a BLT (except with rocket instead of lettuce). A BLT is a sandwich with bacon in it, but it is not a bacon sandwich. Each sandwich has its own merits and its own place - which in the case of a BLT is not in a bacon sandwich contest.
Agreed a BTL is a tomato sandwich with bacon not a bacon sandwich with tomato, and her tomato looked rather sorry.

For example, we could say James May made a bacon with tomato sandwich (because of the ketchup), while Lucy made a tomato sandwich with bacon. The favour of the bacon would be more prominent in James May's sandwich while the tomatoes would be more prominent in Lucy's sandwich.

Is the bacon sandwich comfort food in Britain? Around here you always make a "posh" sandwich with it: smoked bacon, tomatoes, arugula, balsamic vinegar, etc
When Lucy fried her English bacon with James' streaky rashers, her bacons' flavor benefitted from the extra fat. A fair contest would have the bacon cooked separately.
