The reason I really love this channel is that you guys find and reveal the true architectural beauty of Bradford wherever it can be found, be it in a stately home or a neglected graveyard. Oh, and I found this explanation about secret rooms in Victorian properties: "Before they were a fun architectural addition to new homes, hidden rooms and secret passages served a purpose. Most often, that purpose was to allow someone to hide or escape from some kind of danger."
When it was a Bradford University Hall of Residence the ‘master of the hall’ (one of the university lecturers) had his rooms at the top of the ornate flight of stairs. The entrance room was used for an annual formal dinner (jacket, shirt & tie obligatory) and the other room on the ground floor was our common room.

Thank you 😊
As usual you give us informative feedback.
Those secret doors remind me of the great Laurel and Hardy movies.
Could it also be for servants to get in and out of rooms quickly maybe, without spoiling the look of thebnice panneling
