    The best way to get rid of whiteflies is to put a good amount of worm droppings at the base of the plant. I have been doing this for years and it has never failed me.

    I had loads of white flies in my sage & parsley. I made a very effective DIY oil spray that eradicated the white flies. Excellent for aphids on my lettuces, & killed caterpillars & aphids on my broccoli 🥦
    DIY OIL SPRAY: Fill sprayer bottle with water.
    Add Tbsp oil
    Few drops Dawn or other dish detergent

      I’ve had root knot nematodes for 2 years and I tried everything and it didn’t work. The only thing that worked this year and gave me a bumper great crop was simply this: ORGANIC MATTER! I created my own compost from leaves and grass clippings and then when it was time to plant they weren’t fully composted so I just raked the soil and buried the semi decomposed organic matter shallowly and planted on top. Boy no nematode and the yield was super! Try it

    Hi Kathy,
    super valuable info. Thanks
    My tomatoes are being overrun by this sooty mold and yes there are many white flys and what appears to be white fly carcasses littering my plants.
    I sprayed with a quart mixture of 1tsp neem oil, 2.5 tsp of baking soda, 0.5 tsp of dawn. Hopefully a once a week application will break the white fly cycle.
    Now what to do about the pervasive sooty mold?
    🤔

    • @michaelsalmon6436
      @michaelsalmon6436 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can remove sooty mold by swabbing it off the leaves but you mist get it all, or it grows right back. To get it all, use a magnifying glass. I use something that I found on line. It is huge, and it has lights! LOL! So my feeble eyes can see the mold and swab it away. I use ethanol and a cotton swab to do the deed, but serious infections must be surgically treated, and promptly, or the mold will spread and spread, mush faster than you can control with a spray or a swab campaign, no matter how well intentioned. Good luck. Happy Gardening! .

    You can also use just water for whitefly. Spray underside of leaves with a jet of water weekly, called syringing. We control them in avocados with syringing.

      She said that in the video....

    • @michaelsalmon6436
      @michaelsalmon6436 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not matter, IMO! You must spray as often as necessary and for as long as the infestation persists, and you must spray with a force that is enough to physically blast the suckers off the leaves! Ant that means all the leaves, not just the easy to reach leaves. Most of us do not do this! C'mon, admit it!
      Using a soap is a much improved way of "syringing" because it acts to loosen the "stick" of these little suckers, which allows for more of them to be blasted off of the undersides of the plant's leaves, but (and it is a big but!), it takes an effort to do all the leaves, and for as long as it takes, and, there is strong evidence, that once you blast away the evil suckers, you also blast away the beneficial ones. Once there is an imbalance of bad vs good, you will have a much more serious problem come August, when, at least here in the NorthEast of the USA, we get the heat and humidity of summer. (this was before the apparent advent of Global Warming which is so apparent today, July 13th, 2023, when we are getting 90 degree temps and 90% humidity, and lots and lots of bugs, because weekend gardeners are not willing to pay the price of everyday syringing of every leaf in their garden!)
      Thanks for sharing your ideas with us! Happy Gardening!

      They are little white insects that fly around like you see in the video and you can also identify them from the sooty mold on the leaves. We appreciate the input!

    I should have tested a leaf first but didn't. My mistake. This killed several plants in 87 degree weather. I won't be using it in the future.
