I remember HATING Africa when I was a little girl in the 70's. I remember a little White girl asked me if I was from there and I ran home crying to my Mom. It wasn't until the 90's that I became proud of Africa. Now that it's 2020 and I'm 51 years old, I have never been prouder than I am now about being a Black woman and I love my people here and in the Motherland. We have so MUCH to be proud of as a people and I teach my teens to be proud of who they are and I educate them on our greatness, our history.

Although he was probably the only black leader with the power to do it (even more than MLK Jr.), he never developed a hierarchy of leadership and command to deal with those most important issues.

One of my favorite speechs from Malcolm X. I can deeply relate to this. When I was about 7 or 8 years old, I used to hate my skin color. I felt like I was too black and ugly and despised my thick hair. I truly wanted to be white and have long straight hair. I used to believe Jesus was white with the blue eyes and wool hair. I was mentally brainwashed and confused. Then, when I watched Malcolm X for the first time, I was amazed. After that day, I started to love my chocolate - skinned self. Brother Malcolm was the greatest revolutionary theoretician ever to have emerged from the working class in America. The core of his Pan African Nationalist messages is as relevant today as it were in the 60s concerning the liberation of our people in America. Unfortunately we have not heard or understood this great voice and thats why we are still powerless as a group.

Been re-listening to his speeches all week, and I can't shake the thought of how much Denzel sounded like him and seemingly held on to that cadence and delivery.
