- I put together a couple examples of wet-dry-wet (WDW) presets that are modeled after EVH's set up in the 90's. Enjoy.
You can find all the presets under my Neural account (davlavMusic).

I just found your channel and when I tell you.. this is the channel I have been NEEDING. I'm very close of saving up enough money for a Quad Cortex for myself however I've found every video on TH-cam very confusing and not easy to grasp. You sir are the most in depth and easy understanding demonstrator of the product on this entire site. Im glad this video is doing well with over 1K views at the moment that it ended up on my recommended. I will be a longtime subscriber from now long, and when I get a Quad Cortex for myself I will be using your video's to get me off and running. Peace, and to more good content!
Wow, thanks!
Ohhhh, I'm liking this. Great job!
Awesome! Thanks so much for your informative videos!
Sounds absolutely wonderful!!!
Good job man..I will try it this weekend .Thank tou
Very nice video!! thank you :)
wow! sounds great!
That sounds great. I'm a Fractal user and love the ability to put each wet effect in 100% wet and in parallel to a dry signal *on the wet path*. It's a great feature for WDW. I can't use three amp blocks though which is a cool thing on the QC! Well done!
Yeah, the effect paths were easier to implement on the FM3 I had borrowed for a while.
Great sounds great channel - subscribed
Cool and thank you!
Fantastic!!! sounds just delicious 🤤
great job. Can't get closer than that. Hope you can do an VAN HALEN 1 Where it started. Ritchie BLACKMORE WOULD A GREAT TO DO especially stargazer .THX
You're the 2nd person to ask about Blackmore. I'll look into it. For the early VH, that's a common request but I'm wary in that because I'm not sure I can get it right...
EXCELLENT.
Thanks!
Ohhh man I can’t wait to watch this! I have 2-3 VH preset attempts on my QC but I’m sure you’re gonna nail it a lot better than I did. Can’t wait to see what you came up with
Hope you like it!
@@davlavmusic7070 wow nailed it!!! Is that a particular riff you’re playing or is it just an EVH-esque riff?
It's just something I came up with to sound EVH-ish. I try to avoid any real riffs, don't need any copyright issues. 😁
Sounds really good, and really big! I’ll definitely try it out during the weekend, as I haven’t yet seen any really good EVH presets on the QC. Would love you creating an early years EVH preset, as that’s my preferred sound!
Thanks! I'll think about the early VH - your not the first to ask. But I'm a little wary on that since I'm not sure I can get it right...
@@davlavmusic7070 I have no doubt that you could create presets for that early EVH sound that would sound great, too. However, I understand your your concerns - and appreciate your high standards!
thx!!❤next Richie Blackmore Made in Japan Live and Stargazer Tone plz!
I'll look into that. Thanks for the idea.
Sounds great, was looking for a in depth look at how you'd setup a wet dry wet rig
I could put something like that together. Any specific questions?
I went into WDW setup in some more detail in the John Mayer-ish preset I did a while back: th-cam.com/video/f3Mli-DTnO8/w-d-xo.html Let me know if you have other questions.
@davlavmusic7070 I'd love to go all in on something like I'm trying to get setup on QC. I run a wet dry rig with my band when we play live. So honestly trying to get really quality captures first of all with my 2 amp rigs. My dry rig I use a Orange TH100 into a Orange 2x12 cab with Vintage 30s. Then my wet rig is the EVH 5150 combo amp, that is running on a 1x12 Greenback. The Orange amp I run on the dirty channel with gain set at 35%. The 5150 I run it in the green channel at 50%. The other channel is the blue channel. But then would like to get my 5150s on the L and R, with my Orange keeping Center locked in on.
On my board I run, Guitar/tuner/compressor/wah/jhs SBod/JHfuxx/MetalMuff/TCelectronic boost/bossEq splitter. To wet amp, Boss Octave/carbon copy delay/carbon copy delay/phase 90/EH holy grail rev/Hall of Fame reverb.
I use that Hall of Fame at the end to get alot of ambience sound, and use the 2 carbon copies for different delay times ready to go if I want trails.
I know that's a lot in a message, but if I could literally see how someone with much more knowledge of the QC would approach this. I'd greatly appreciate it. We have some big opportunities in 2024, so lugging around my big rig isn't always going to be an option. Thx ✌️
If you have any suggestions as well I'm up for it. I'd like to try doing a wet dry wet for a QC setup too.
@@Jason_Barum This VH WDW is pretty much doing what you describe. I've got a video I'm going to do soon that will be swapping out the 5150 amp models for captures I bought from Amalgam. I'll spend a few extra minutes going into the routing for the WDW. You also might want to check out the video I did on parallel/stereo processing overall on the QC: th-cam.com/video/raiSyvrH0cE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ejUKy3jqqFN9bB0T
For amps you could also try a Soldano SLO (was the main amp on For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge) and a Plexi (he used his famous old one from the early albums on some of the Balance tracks like Aftershock)
There's one thing I can't figure out in this presets. The volume is incredibly high, compared to the standard presets I use. The weird thing is the volumes do not seem particularly high. Could it be due to the fact that the three outputs get mixed together in the end and the final sound is three times louder?
I think so. There does seem to be an additive effect when running multiple amps like this. If you want to bring down the preset volume I would just adjust the levels on the outputs.
What output(s) are you using on the quad cortex?
I run each preset to multi out. The XLR runs to my monitors and USB(3/4) into my computer.
