  • In this episode of HBTV, leather guru Dave Himel goes deep into the qualities and history of some of the highest quality horsehides in the world, produced by Shinki Tannery in Himeji, Japan. Most of this information can't be found online-plus, he shows you the details of one of the least-known Himel Bros. Leather designs: the Brycelander, made exclusively for Bryceland's & Co.

Beautiful jacket. Very slick and simple elegant cut with few small flashy details. But I will definitely wear it as a motorcycle jacket...sometimes.

It's certainly tough enough for the bike... be careful out there

The best jacket I have seen. I like the simpler designer in the back than Frobisher. Once I save up, will place an order. (do get a larger saucer for the plant in the video!)

What do you think is better in making shell cordovan , shinki or horween ?

Impossible to compare... both amazing, and no good for jackets.

great video, thanks david for all those information . i m curious what you think about Liberty or Victory Horsehide? victory claimed themselves to be world's number one horsehide, how do they compare to shinki?

We've stocked some Italian hides before with mixed results. At that level it comes down to preference most of the time, and we prefer Shinki, Horween, and our lovely local Canadian tanneries.

Would you consider horween low grade?

horween makes a huge range of products, and their top-of-the-line horsehides compete with the best in the world

    Lovely leather - gorgeous...
Not a fan of the design - too busy - too many frilly not required details for my taste., TETO

Jeez I wouldn't be wearing any US made leather since the quality control just isn't consistent enough for me to throw a few thousand AUD on it.....I'd take Italian or German made stuff anyday
