This video describes Structure and functions of Human Ear in detail in Tamil. The human ear consists of three parts: External ear, Middle ear, Internal ear. The external era is further divided into auricle, external auditory meatus and ear drum. Middle ear has tympanic cavity, eustachian tubes and ear ossicles. Inner ear has bony and membranous labyrinth.
The ears provide the important functions of hearing and balance. Sound waves enter the outer ear and reach the eardrum. The eardrum vibrates and sends these vibrations to three tiny bones in the middle ear. The bones amplify the sound vibrations and send them to the cochlea. Hair cells-sensory cells sitting on top of the basilar membrane-ride the wave. The auditory nerve carries this electrical signal to the brain, which turns it into a sound that we recognize and understand. Many structures in the inner ear, called the vestibular system together, send signals to the brain, helping to align and keep us in balance.
