It’s really fun to watch someone else learning the camera I learned to shoot with! I had a year and a half of classes with it in high school to learn and I still don’t shoot great photos at least 50% of the time. In just two rolls of film between these videos, your eye for composition seems consistent, if not improving, and thankfully you figured out the shutter speed adjustment! If you keep shooting film, I’d be interested in seeing your continued work!
Hey, I’m loving the photographs! I too love learning photography. I myself use a Canon AE-1 from the 70s. It used to be my father’s, but is an amazing camera. I also use a Mamiya 645 Pro and a 3D printed medium format camera. Learning medium format is a different but enjoyable beast. My next adventure will be learning to develop my own film. And followed up by learning to enlarge and print the photographs.
I have the P30N with the exact same lenses (macro and all) that I got from my mom that got it from her dad that passed away recently, and I've been doing the same mistakes with my first film roll. I discovered later that the P30N has an automatic shutterspeed setting (picks automatically the flashing speed you see in the video) and an automatic aperture setting that does aperture and shutterspeed automatically, which makes it a really good camera for a beginner. Be careful as when you use a flash, you have to pick the shutterspeed setting with the lightning bolt on it since it synchronizes the shutterspeed with the flash.
When you frame a scene, look for some gray background in the scene where you measure the light, then remember the time and aperture value, frame again and take the picture . I also have such a camera , and at first I had underexposed photos . Since I'm metering on gray the photos come out very good. I recommend the so called grey card .Regards.
If you are able to make more related Pentax videos, I'd love it. Your videos have helped me as of very recently with the same camera as yours. Hope you're well. 😊
You can definitely keep a shutter speed at 1/1000 all day you just have to use a bigger aperture. so like a lot of the shadows would have looked better at f4 even at 1/1000 but your highlights may have been overexposed. With the P3 I usually point it at the shadows and the highlights and choose an average of what shutter speed the light meter suggests and I keep my aperture where I want it based on depth of field or how much of the scene I want to be in focus.
Videos of this plan look very interesting, of course, some people who watch this video may think that Nicole herself does not know how to take pictures or adjust the camera before taking a picture, but personally I think that Nicole is quite professionally able to use the camera and is very good at adjusting it before taking a picture, I think this is such a camera👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Certainly a popular camera. My little video of the p30 has been the most popular I've produced. Keep up the good work.

Hey! How are you managing to keep certain points in focus and other points not? (birds and the building). I struggle to understand focus on a P30
