Chelsea & Tony Northrup teach the beginning photographers the Exposure Triangle: Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO. They'll teach you how to use your mirrorless camera or DSLR to set low f/stop numbers, like f/1.4, let in more light and blur the background more. They'll also teach you how to use shutter speed to hide or show motion. First, however, they'll start with the easiest setting: ISO, which controls the brightness of your image.
Free tutorials for your specific camera: sdp.io/tutorial
    Rule of Doubles: sdp.io/double
Nifty Fifty to blur the background: sdp.io/fast50

Hey guys! No video has been so singularly and instantly game-changing in my understanding of cameras and how that applies to my streaming/videos. After watching this, I went back to my set up and changed settings following your advice, which immediately improved my video quality and consistency (no more weird tonal shifts cuz the camera was auto-adjusting to whatever colour of light was shining from my monitor onto my face!). I cannot thank you enough! ^_^

I know all this, but I still default to low ISO + wide open apertures + and the shutter speed to make it all work. This was a helpful reminder that ISO can be pushed, that shutter speeds can be increased + that aperture doesn't always have to be wide open. Great video. I'll watch it a few more times.

Tony, considering the sharpness throughout the shoot, one should still consider changing the settings as per exposure triangle to get desired results or keep f stop to sweet spot of the lens and change only ISO and shutter speed. With Sony A7 R series (2 to 4). I experience lot of noise even at low ISO number and require to struggle a lot to get sharp and clear pictures. Can you guide? Why the same ISO setting gives different results in mirror less and DSLR. Mirrorless has a flaw of having more ISO even at low ISO number?

Wouldn't you say I.S.O. considering it's an acronym for International Organization for Standardization? I know it doesn't really mean anything in the digital world; however, in the film days no matter where you are a 400 role of film is the same in America as it is in Australia.....although they have different systems of measurement. Just saying....😉
I do love the vids though! I really enjoyed this layout. I don't believe I've seen anyone else putting this type of work into an instructional video. Loved it! Definitely kept my attention! You guys are great!

i love the fraction analogy. I always forget these because in ISO a bigger number means more light in the picture but in shutter speed and aperture it's the lower numbers that are associated with more light.
