One of the things I love about Heart doing a cover is that they dont take it too far away from the original. They play the song with their own strengths but don’t turn it in to something that it’s not. It’s really brilliant cover work.
When Nancy Wilson raises her guitar upside down over her head at the end of every Heart Concert she is saluting the crowd for their support all these years.....It is the most heartfelt thanks any Rocker can give.....Classy is not a strong enough word to describe what she does.....
It is crazy, no matter who sings this song it is one of the most powerful songs in rock history! It speaks volumes of the quality of Pete Townsend's writing!
¡¡¡¡I´m absolutely IMPRESSED!!!! They "nailed" it. Ann´s vocals are particularly astounding (people tend to forget how incredibly good Daltrey was, more so during the early 70´s, and how difficult it is to properly sing THE WHO´s great material).
Just a follow up to my comment of two years ago, it goes to show that with a brilliant song and brilliant cover artists songs like this can’t fail. Has everybody heard Pearl Jam’s version…..absolutely fantastic.
I agree but a very close 2nd place to Annie Haslam from Renaissance. Both clearly divas. Ann Wilson can conjure up that fierce edge and shade where Annie Haslam has the stellar operatic range. Like when do these women breathe? Some people's lungs just aren't human and if we know better than to worship Taylor Swift and clones, it is thanks to the existence of legit goddesses like these two
@@Grizzlied555 I don't agree with you. In Europe Pat had little success. One number 1 hit and several small hits that are long forgotten while Heart had worldwide success.
I became a Who fanatic 50 years ago. Tommy did me in, 1969. Never thought I could get into a cover of their music, but Heart nailed it. Anne brings the raw edge to the vocals that was in the original, and takes me back to 1973 at the Fabulous Forum.
Heart is the only band in my opinion, in existence that can do THE WHO and LED ZEPPELIN songs justice. This one, and Stairway to Heaven are absolutely epic and heart-stopping.
Saw them in 2013 with Simon Townsend. This was the last song of the night. How it was possible for Ann to have enough gas left in the tank to nail this song still has me in awe. Supernatural. You will live forever ladies xoxo.
When Heart does a cover it's always exceptional. No doubt here! Fact is few can do Zep or The Who without egg all over the place. In the moment Heart covers a song they own it! Excellent!
My two mothers . I grew up with these ladies and they have such an influence on me. There's no music that they can't do... Thank you Ann and Nancy !!!! Live life loud !!!
Saw them countless times...When she sung this live I had chills all over... My favorite band since 1976...Ann is the best rock female vocalist ever...❤❤❤❤
Everything Heart does is just great. The Who is the greatest band of all time and I love this tribute. Ann Wilson is hotter than hell too. A national treasure.
Ok, I've been a Heart fan since the first time I heard Magic Man on the radio (yes, I am an old fart). The first time I was skeptical was when I learned they were going to attempt Stairway To Heaven. Thanks be to the Goddess, I was wrong to be skeptical. And then, there's this... my absolute favorite Who song... and I've been slayed. One massive, unstoppable head to toe goosebump, and I'm done for. Heart can do no wrong - EVER!
I've watched this vid many times... never get tired of it. As far as I'm concerned (and I love The Who's live stuff) they never performed this song live well. The vocals seem so demanding. But Heart does this cover justice like no other I have heard
One of my favorite songs of all time. I think I've watched this 200 times as a sort of background while at work. Such a strong rendition. Right there with The Who.
Never underestimate these women! ;) The Who is one of my favorite bands, and Heart is one of the only bands that can cover their material with Gospel Truth!
Ps. 55 years of age now, and still crying my eyes out over this Quadrophenia track. Such a tough little boy, and so popular.., but also soooo lonely... ;)
Many years and my sister and I would go to see Heart and she would only hope that they would play this song. When heart played it, she would be in her glory. Now, every time I feel it for her since she died 5 years ago. It makes me cry to hear it. I miss my big sister.
This is my first time ever listening to Heart perform Reign O'er Me.I have always loved the Who and this song. What a fabulous cover Oh My !! Wilson nails it !! Kudos xxxOXOO Allison
I FIRST SAW ANN & NANCY BACK IN 1975 WHILE I WAS STATIONED AT MATHER AFB IN SACRAMENTO. BOTH OF THEM LOOKED LIKE TEENAGERS EVEN THOUGH A FEW YEARS OLDER THAN ME ..BUT ILL NEVER FORGET THAT CONCERT. ESPECIALLY WHEN ANN PICKED UP ONE OF A DOZEN ROSES I THREW ON STAGE THEN SHE PASSED IT TO NANCY FOR A QUICK WHIFF. THANKED ME ....THIS WAS BEFORE DREAMBOAT ANNIE.
Ever see the first minute of a video and say to yourself, " Yup, this is one I love already and will love even more the next half dozen plays. And then I'm gonna show it to my friends and have them experience the same music high." This for me is one of those times.
I saw the Who live in 71. This has all the same power, emotion, and just plain guts of everything they did back in the time. This is the best cover ever done of this song.
BRAVO! Outstanding rendition of this powerful song. Gives me chills! Ann and Nancy bring it every time. Kudos on the keyboards. Lead guitar and drums also well done.
Great! Beautiful performance. I usually don't like others singing songs from other performers, in this case from The Who, but this was just simply, great!
I was watching this concert today and it started pouring down rain! When I was younger my friends and I walked around Busch Gardens in the rain after going multiple times on all the wet rides, singing this at the top of our drunken voices! It brought back amazingly good times feelings! So,I cranked it LOUD! Probably pissed the neighbors off?! Tonight after a few, I am cranking it into my headphones and LOVING IT! Friday I'll plug my bass in and play along and REALLY piss the neighbors off!!!!!

Never, ever been disappointed by her renditions of iconic rock songs.... yet very few can cover Heart... may as well not even try I suppose. I wonder if she and Pat Benetar have/would ever do a song together... nevermind, my head might explode then.
Pearl Jam's version and Heart's of this great The Who song, the best. These are excellent musicians from the guys who wrote it to the guys and gals who played it. Love it so much

She looks ridiculous with that acoustic style guitar, jumping around like an idiot. Ann on the other hand, OMG!
It is crazy, no matter who sings this song it is one of the most powerful songs in rock history! It speaks volumes of the quality of Pete Townsend's writing!
True, the song is a beauty. Even better in the movie of Quadrophenia as it just fit so well. Nice cover from Heart!
Agreed, but covering it must have that God-Like voice upfront. Very few can sing the lead properly. Its not screaming...closer to Opera.
That's how you cover a song. Take note, cover bands. I'm a major Who fan and this kicks ass!!!
Jesus Christ! What a cover! The years haven't affected Ann's voice. She is still of the best female vocalist in Rock of all times.
The woman can sing!
Ann is great but I'll take Annie Haslam.

Greatest female rock voice of all time...even after almost 50 years, no one could overshadow Ann Wilson.
Pat Benatar can and did and does. By far.

have you heard their cover of Stairway to Heaven? Maybe better than the original?
Pearl jam do a pretty epic cover too but this is certainly doing justice to the original ❤
You don’t see many bands try to cover this song. My guess is the vocals are too demanding. Except Ann Wilson of course.
Possibly the greatest song ever written. Pete Townshend = GENIUS.

This took bravery, but it comes off and they were wise to end with it, as not much could follow it!
Yeah......too right !!!!

The Wilson sisters not only are amazing musicians but have a unique taste for classic Rock. To me they're among the best without any doubt, anytime.

Ann did Daltrey proud and then some. And extra props for keeping it the original (read: correct) key.
the Wilsons have left me breathless for 40+ yrs.... this one is off the charts, imo.
Very much Heart, very much The Who. Magnificent.
