Absolutely brilliant. Respect for making the trek out there and for capturing this stunning place with such fantastic gear. Looking forward to more. Stay safe!
Well that was a fantastic watch, Scott - great shots in a beautiful town. You’ve definitely made the most of this trip!! Really enjoy how you’ve put these short films together - thank you. 👍
they are really good shots, it seems you very well seized the sense of appreciation that Chinese do, or maybe just the beauty bridges cultural differences.
I just got back from my own trip to China, and it’s been great watching your videos exploring as well! I highly recommend Hong Kong as well for photography. It’s got such an incredible vibe, and I couldn’t stop gawking at nearly everything. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for watching. What an incredible country China is! Hong Kong is awesome too, I’ve been a few times now. Maybe I should go back to film a video 😊🙏🏼
Absolutely beautiful, colours are so vibrant, your passion on what you do really comes through. You definitely take your followers on a journey with you xx
Another banging video Scott. I watched many a travel vlog in China but you nailed it. How are you managing with the language? Out of interest where do you source your music?
Thanks so much for watching, really stoked your enjoying the series. The language was tough but we picked up quite abit, Google translate saved the day. Music is from Audiio, there is a link and discount code in the video description where you can get 70% off a pro subscription, it also gives me a few $ to support the channel.
Been watching quite a few vloggers on China but I must admit I love your “photographer” series. You give a different aspect. 🙌 Might also be because I love photography too 😂
U have totally got the idea of Chinese traditional aesthetic character! If u have time u should visit Mount Huang, a phenomenal sight which is correlated to the ink and wash painting style
I used to live in China and wanted to visit Fenghuang for years. I also do photography. I'm planning a trip back to China soon and Fenghuang is on the itinerary for sure. This video has nailed that down for me. I'm curious, because I speak mandarin, how did you find visiting Fenghuang as a non-mandarin speaker?
It’s well worth the visit in my opinion, I visited in off season and it was real good in terms of crowds. China would have been really tough to travel without a translator but we also knew some words to get by. With Fenghuang being a touristy place a lot of people actually knew some English so it was fine
You can take a look at the ancient city of Pingyao. Although it is also quite commercialized, the buildings in the Ming and Qing dynasties inside are very good
I went there once when I was two years old. At that time, the tourism industry here was not so developed. 😮Now it has changed a lot, but it is still beautiful!😊😊😊
Welcome to China! I really like your way of looking at these scene. As a Chinese and an amateur photographer, it is difficult for me to regard Chinese characters as symbols when traveling domestically. Their commercialization and secular meaning often make me lose the desire to take pictures. But your perspective gave a good example of how to treat everything as a part of a photo.
Amazing video. I have been enjoying this series, travel photography vlogs are the best. I do them sometimes. Do you use 2 cameras? Your footage is stunning. As an hybrid shooter with only 1 camera I have to compromise between taking the picture or the video haha, then end up filming on my phone or action 4
Thanks so much for watching, glad you're enjoying the series, I really appreciate it. Yeah I am using 2 cameras, the Sony Zv-E1 for video and the Sony a7iv for photos and video if needed.
@@scott_howes qinghai province, area between West Sichuan province and Tibet, and Xinjiang, would be your best options. I believe you can capture many stunning moments.
I thought the same, it does get very different of an evening. You should go in the off season when there are less people there for sure, it’s well worth the visit
wow converted on touristy ancient towns already 😂 fenghuang is more on the touristy side. any town that has train access to it is going to be more touristy. that said, china does do a good job of preserving the identity of places, just with a face lift and modernized to make things more accessible. if you want really untouched ancient towns, head south to yunnan and look for ones where the only access is by hired car. the south is a bit poorer, less developed, and more ethnically diverse.
@@scott_howes honestly if you are just there to get great shots, it shouldn't matter if 'ancient towns' got a facelift and a bit touristy. you really can't go wrong by going to any of these. some people go a little out of the way to some of the lesser known ones not because it's untouched physically, but more because people don't go there so you can avoid the crowds and just enjoy the vibe. any known tourist site in china can get extremely packed. it seems you went to fenghuang during the offseason because I've seen that place packed as well. if you prefer to avoid the tourist crowds, travel when it's cold. many local chinese tourists are older retirees and hate the cold. for yunnan, just search top attractions - I would mostly recommend the same places but personally I prefer the nature side of things. it's the land of eternal spring so great of you want that vibrant nature shot, even within a major city like kunming. in terms of ancient towns, shaxizhen is one of the better lesser known, a little more out of the way ones. it's often skipped because people just go directly to lijiang or dali. china's not a monolith as you probably already know from traveling there enough. it just depends what you are looking for and it's once of those places you can spend an eternity looking for something but be surprised by other things you find along the way.
Sometimes or even a lot of the time touristy = lame but also you have to consider that these places wouldnt be popular with tourists if they werent worth seeing like stonehenge or the coliseum...... its not all Disney land stuff thats touristy
The moment of the high speed train running into the screen is like a sci-fi movie scene, the town is absolutely stunning!
movie like scenes!
This kind of video should be seen by more people, let's give it a thumbs up!
Thanks mate, means a lot 🙏🏼

So many fun compositions with the alley ways and semi-obstructed perspectives!
It’s a street photographers dream😬

Im sure its super touristy compared to what it used to be. As a foreigner coming from the west it was really cool to see.
Is it possible to go to Fenghuang from Yangshuo by train? I'm visiting China in october, can't find this route on china railway sites((
Yes you have to go from Guilin Railway Station to Fenghuang Gucheng Railway. This is the route I took, it takes around 6 hours.

谢谢你把中国拍的那么美❤中国还有很多各具特色的人文,历史,自然风景,欢迎你
China is incredible! The landscapes are otherworldly. I cant wait to return again soon
Thanks so much for watching and sharing your suggestions. I really want to come back to china soon so I will add these locations to my list 🫶🏼
if you could chose again... fenghuang or yangshuo ? :)
Both 😬
I've convinced myself that you are that TH-cam vegan Welsh homesteader
Can I take that as a compliment😅
In China, this place is mostly visited by couples.
Oh no, you didn't show the famous curved bridge with a pavilion in the middle, a landmark of Phoenix Town. But otherwise everything else is beautiful
