- In the final installment of Doug’s “Making S&OP Work” series, he goes on to address how to properly use your data to improve your S&OP process. Companies can find the right data, but if they don’t know how to present or use it properly, that data serves no purpose. Using data as a starting point to discover the “story” of what’s going on in your business helps identify accountability, fix current plans, and improve forecasting. Not to mention, once everybody understands how to present data, all parts of your business will begin to speak a common language, and the story will begin to unfold itself.
At DBM Systems, we use the 5-Section Sheet; a tool that helps our clients to understand their data. It provides a snapshot of your business’s past, current, and future plans. Using this, you can easily see what’s changed, and see what’s on the horizon for your business. Using this tool, you can drive effective S&OP discussions and decisions with executives.
Hopefully this series has helped you discover How To Make S&OP Work. In our next series, Doug is going to be answering his most frequently asked questions about S&OP. So, be sure to comment or message us with any questions to ensure Doug can address them in future videos.
