Very nice driving! I'm stunned by the capabilities of the 4C! Just a few upgrades and it became a track warrior. Congratulations.

in the last S curves the 4C carbon fiber chassis precision comes out. Lateral 1,2g stunning value.

People in the comments are getting way too uptight. The Lotus made a mistake. It has the better chassis and the better engine, but the car is only as good as its driver, and the 4C’s driver was in better form that day. Don’t get all wound up about something that doesn’t affect you in the least.
4C Pilot: nice job! Good driving out there, and what a car to be doing it in! The 4C is one of my favorites. I’m looking at getting another car next year, and it’s on the short list.

The Alfa driver definitely drove a better line. The lotus has a more powerful engine but the chassis is basically a Lotus elise from 1996 with a changed rear frame and bigger tires so no better chassis. I was surprised how quick the Alfa was especially at the straights. I drive a stock Lotus Exige S2 and this 4C is much faster in a straight line.

Steffen kawa there’s a reason that Lotus’s chassis technology has stayed relatively stable (beyond the inherent costs): it’s damn damn good. And while the basic underpinnings of the Exige today are very similar to the S1 Elise, they aren’t the same by any stretch.
These Exige V6s ride on a very sorted out chassis that has had years of massaging and development. The Alfa may have a more advanced and modern chassis setup, and they certainly feel more rigid, but they aren’t nearly as sorted as the modern Exige. It’s like it was taken out of the oven too soon as a car, it wasn’t quite done yet. Shame, because the CF tub is just cool as all hell.
That said, the Alfa is the one I’d have. The 4C, to me, never feels as competent as the Exige, but it’s more fun. And I think, if I’m not completely mistaken, that these V6 Exiges, like the on in the video, will pull away from the 4C on the straights.
However, I ended up not getting the 4C. Got a Gen V Viper instead. Wasn’t even going to drive that car, but did on a whim and it was just so special.

The driver of the 4C was performing excellent. He hit the apexes right on the money. The driver of the Lotus was all over the place, missing almost every apex...... but was still too fast for the 4C to catch him for quite a while. The Lotus was going faster through curves OFF the mark.... than the 4C could handle them when navigating perfectly. I'd love to know what tires that Lotus was running.... because I need a set - LOL
The Lotus is clearly the better track car here..... and with a better driver, would have left the 4C far behind. But.... this video is a good representation of how important a good driver is.
Props to 4C driver.... hell of a job.

@@alfo4c489 I have read good and bad things about the Avon ZZR. Mostly, they work well.... until they don't from overheating, which happens quickly.
Last time I was regularly tracking my car was a few years ago, but I went from the Yoko R888, to the Nitto NT-01... before eventually settling (and happiest with) the Hoosier A6.... but they only worked in 100% dry conditions.
That was also on an STI platform, which is considerably heavier than the 4C or the Lotus... as well as AWD.
I'm overseas now.... but headed back to the US in a year or so, and I'm already preparing to purchase a 4C. Currently researching what seems to work best.

Buy a 4C! - If you come across a badly driven Lotus who misses just about every turning point - you may eventually pass him! it will take a few minutes though - (A bios Lotus Exige owner ;) - When it comes to the track, the driver is far more important than the car. Looks like both had fun to me and on non-competitive track days, thats what actually matters.

Doesn't mean the 245hp 4cyl is faster than a 380 hp V6, they aren't in the same category at all.
It just means the 4C is a nice machine that can compete with more powerful cars to some extent, that's all, chill dude.

Wahnsinns-Fight mit dem Exige. Kompliment... LG

    • @alfo4c489
      @alfo4c489  6 ปีที่แล้ว

A longer track would give the advantage to the Lotus. I think the Alfa has the better brakes... deeper into the corners. Bigger injectors, and change the boost on the turbo and the 4c could take on just about anything.
