Rick Steves, and Back Door Productions are the best. They paid their employees during the pandemic. It cost him millions. He said, it's the right thing to do.
Rick thanks, now i have learned much more of Egypt.

@@WayOfAges Rick Steves has real world values. I’m sure he would scoff at the idea of sainthood, and say that a profitable company paying their employees was the right thing to do. It is this humility that makes him so approachable, and when viewers like me watch him, he feel very personable. Nice to meet another fan.
I love Rick Steves. I've been watching his programs Since High School, especially the ones on Europe 🇪🇺

You can't go to Aswan without a visit to The Old Cataract Hotel for afternoon tea, where Agatha Christi wrote Death on the Nile.
I love Egypt. I am not Egyptian. I live in Los Angeles but I am originally from the Philippines. Egypt is my second home. Amazing antiquities.
I just came back from Cairo. I stayed in an Airbnb on Zamalek Island. There wasn't any fear or problems with security. You don't have to stay in a 5 star hotel. Egyptians are the most welcoming people of any country I have visited.
مرحبن بيك في مصر ام الدنيا
Hey Rick that stiff and archaic looking "husband and wife" statues are the figurines of prince Rahotep and his wife Nofret , the first time the Egyptian sculptors moved away from the typical sharp edges and extreme angles. The Greeks got inspiration and learned their art from the Egyptians and those two figurines played a major role.
Very interesting, I did notice the difference, resembles more of the current Egyptian era people.

Egypt is one of the top places on my bucket list. I am enthralled with Egyptian history and archaeology. This is a beautiful representation of the people, culture, and spirit of Egypt. I am dying to experience it for myself. I want to stand under those ancient columns, walk the markets, see the flowing Nile, the great pyramids and the Sphinx. Thank you for this.
Me too someday, I will just keep putting money aside in my travel fund.
I am Egyptian tour guide and I will so glad if you can visit my country at one day
@@Timharvy7095 How can I contact you when I visit Egypt 🇪🇬?
Save up some money, get a passport, and take 2 or 3 weeks to do a trip. An American couple I watched on here just did it last month in February 2022 and it didn't look as dangerous as when I went in 2009 for a couple weeks. You'll get harassed and heckled about money often, but there are plenty of armed police in most areas a tourist might go to ensure you don't get mugged or attacked by bandits. While Egypt is quite cheap to do on your own booking your own flight and staying in guesthouses and hiring your own car drivers, sail boats, and motor boats, many take a Nile River cruise package tour which are really expensive, but much easier so many retirees and family go that option instead of going out in the their really rough real world alone on your own.

*** The fence is painted outside, the leopard is inside. Egypt has a fascinating history of a great civilization. Today, however, Egypt is enjoying an unprecedented evolution of involution. The population is highly polarized: the sub-Egypt of the poor and the super-Egypt of the rich. Of course this polarization is worldwide but not as steep as the Egyptians. The girls get married around the age of 11. School is not compulsory, but the army does. Girls don't go to school. If in Tunisia I met troglodytes who sent their daughters to college, in Egypt a girl at school would be a great shame. The tip is a "national sport", a bargain an emblem. Negotiation is not necessarily the problem, but the aggressiveness with which it is practiced. It is difficult for a European to have a relationship with a man bewildered by fate, where the negotiation is very similar to our begging, doubled by the arrogance of the fool who fooled you. It is very difficult for you to feel sorry for some people without honor. Thanks to the divinity that I was not born in Egypt Egypt is a homogeneous mixture of fascination and disappointment.

Indian, Meditterranean, North African and Middle Eastern foods are my favorite cuisines in the world.
There's just something so close to the heart with these cuisines - in particular Greek and Persian foods.
I really hope I can travel to those countries in the future once I have enough money saved and also when it becomes safer to travel from COVID-19.

In my 8-10 trips to Egypt, I found the people invariably wonderful. We made friends swiftly and they always insisted that I remember that Egypt is my second home. I always felt that way. I have only been to Cairo and Alexandria (including many of the sites shown in this video), but hope to visit Upper Egypt at some point in the future and take a Nile cruise. After all these years....you still the man! Thank you for a lifetime of work.
19:33 That's moussaka? In Greece, it's something completely different. Almost like lasagna. But in Egypt it's apparently eggplants with tomato sauce. It's really interesting to see how the same food name can mean so different things in different cultures at the same time.
I thought the same thing.
We have two version of musscka , one vegetarian , eat it on street breakfast , fried eggplant and potato's with tomoto sause , the other , we put minced meat between two layers of eggplant and sometimes you can add bachamel sauce on top like macroni bachemel exactly but we use eggplant instead of macaroni , but this version isn't in restaurant because it cost more also expensive for poor because red meat is expensive in Egypt ,
Good job 👌👍
