My wife and I just returned yesterday ftom an AMAWaterwsys tour of Egypt and saw all of these sites and more, with the exception of Alexandria. Marawa was one of our 3 guides. It was exhausting and wonderful. We had one fabulous lunch at a gorgeous Marriott property across the street from the pyramids and a final lunch at the Royal palace in downtown Cairo. The three days in Cairo was based at the Ritz.

I thought that Hatshepsut was the only female pharaoh, but is referred to as the greatest woman pharaoh. Who were the others? But I appreciate his efforts, I was born in Cairo and lived in Alexandria too. Much has changed…..😮 I have unforgettable beautiful memories.😊❤ oh how much I miss the beaches, was the best in the whole world . Thank you.

The country is going crazy with lots of changes all over. Kinda exciting to see all these changes and improvements. I love your shows sir.

Egypt is most popular for its awesome pyramids !
The streets and the market place in Cairo has a striking resemblance with our country India in many ways. There, too people travel by autorickshaws for going to various places.
The pipe hukkas for smoking were very much in vogue in the then times in India and were mostly used by the zamindars ( landlords ) or by the people of elite class. The big boats with mast on sail were commonly used in India as well during the ancient times. The agriculture and farming were also done in the same way in ancient India as is done in Egypt.
The food is also very similar to the food which lndians have in their everyday life.
    Overall, a wonderful scenario !
    Thanks !😊

I am quite amused when Mr.Rick
says 'hut balloons' which in India we call 'phulkas' and if the handmade bread is flat and thinner it is called 'chappatis' or 'rotis'.Anyway, when it is called 'hut balloons', the phulkas get a new and anglicised name, which sounds very natural as it is like a round ball and is the handmade bread which ordinary people have in their everyday life.😂

I just got back from 14 days in Egypt (7 in Cairo, 7 in Luxor)
    1. Old Cairo is a mess. 2. Giza, Saqarra, Museum are excellent. Just be ready for disorganization 3. New Cairo is like a new L.A. Suburb. 4. Always use UBER. 5. Luxor ruins are amazing, just be ready for beggars and scammers. say LAAT! Means NO. Be strong when needed.
Egypt is trying hard to get up. Just know it's a 3rd world country, backwards in so many ways...be kind, control expectations and go see the world's greatest ancient ruins ever.... epic

Yup, been scam by our own tourist guide too. For a 12 days tour. A hefty price for a 12 days tour for a family of three. The only expensive i think that he had paid was our hotel and the Nile Cruise because they charge in US dollars but the food and drinks, entrance fee to temples and museum are really cheap. But when we get to Luxor he had put us in a cheap apartment there for 3 days with no hot water for showers. $4,000 per person and its 3 of us.
Also their vendors there are scammers and very aggressive. So many tourist trap in that country.

The people of Egypt, as in common in the Arab world, are very hospitable and friendly. Unfortunately as a tourist, especially an independent traveler, you will be constantly bombarded by hawkers and would be scammers. They can appear friendly, and will stay friendly if you buy something but if you don't, they can turn aggressive. Egypt has such wondrous treasures and should be on anyone's bucket list but if you are not able to cope with the constant pestering, then Rick Steve's videos are about as close to Egypt as you should get.

Egyptian architecture and ancient heritage evoke its past glory and civilization. If anything, it's a reminder to the West that look down the East. Even the ancient Greek architecture and viable system remind us it had been copied(inspired) from ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia civilizations. I mean, it wasn't an "invention" of ancient Greece. And Romans copied(inspired) Greeks. Awkward!
Thank you for taking us along with you, so that I was able to dive into the prime origin of modern civilization of the mankind.
It's a pity that modern Egypt looks chaotic and challenging. Why pedestrians are randomly crossing the roads, instead of following the zebra crossing? This habit is dangerous and overwhelming for both pedestrians and automobile drivers. I am going to re-watch it.

@@theoztreecrasher2647 Really? Because the last time I checked the Christian fundamentalists in America weren’t going around blowing themselves up and shouting God is great. They weren’t hijacking planes and flying them into buildings or raping, killing, and kidnapping people they didn’t like.
