    As someone who has painted many cars, on anything semi-gloss or higher, every time you let go of the trigger you need to start spraying outside your area so it is already flowing by the time the paint stream comes in contact with the piece being sprayed. It prevents imperfections which show up in high gloss paints.

    For those who find the video too long, here are some of the tips:
    1. Keep the trigger pulled (this eliminates spits)
    2. Start with a plan on difficult projects
    3. Work from top to bottom whenever possible
    4. If you are right-handed, it is good practice to start on the right

    Thank you chris and your team. I bought a sprayer a year ago after watching your videos. I spray the trim and doors on my rentals now and it makes the job so much faster and better. I used to pay to have decks and exterior stairs painted but I do it all myself much cheaper. You have really helped my business. I'm doing a 4 plex that I just bought next. If you want to eliminate spits there is a bolt on the back of your Titan gun somewhere where the mechanism moves. If you adjust that bolt you can fix that issue. Newer guns don't tend to spit as much because it's obviously new and the mechanism is tighter. It wobbles as it moves back and forth over time. Cheers 🍻

    I have panted 5 aircraft (not all done at the same tine - over 5 years), using a Wagner airless. I had an arm like a gorilla when finished. It does a good job, once you know the limitations, like when it is about to go 'dry' to avoid sputtering.

    Great videos and thanks for sharing. I am always learning something new. One thing I don't understand or see resolved is the build up on the walls around trim. I never see anyone brush it out and would think what I see on the walls next to the trim would be lumpy build up when dry and would show when rolling the finish coat on the walls. I am about to spray all the trim in my house and don't know what to plan for. Thanks.

Tape is faster anyway and it looks the same if we took them off so customers don’t care. They just want everything to look great.

    I tilt my doors at a bit of an angle and keep them spaced apart so overspray doesn’t affect the finish. I also spray the heel and toe before I shoot the whole door. Technique could be improved with 2 of the guys. But I agree that trim looks better when you’re able to spray it as opposed to brushing ( in some instances) Also think the pressure should’ve been lower seemed a bit too high for me. Def seemed like the high pressure could’ve caused some overspray on your finished ceilings. Being a painter we are all particular to how we do things. Great video though love the gear #painterslife

      Runs and sags are caused from 4 things: sprayer pressure is set to high, not the right tip for finish work, to much over lap, and hand stalls, learn how to adjust the pressure on your sprayer, use correct tip, watch the fan overlap, watch for any pause time, move move move.
      I don't understand why they use the tip they do in this vid, Size 210 fine finish is the way to go. And listening to their pump the pressure ajustment is on the highest setting. The orange peal has to to be outrageous.

    Dude, 2 tips, and i dont mean your 310, - yank the hardware and invest in some door stackers. Allows you to spin the door wet, and hit the other side using the hole in the door, (where the handle wont be there, if you pulled it), then stack to dry. Stacking doors in a designated area allows more work space, painting all doors, (both sides), and avoids "silk curtains", due to accidental over spray. Your welcome. 🤙

      marcelguarachi they’re using a small tip size easy to get away with it without heavy spots

    • @froey198033
      @froey198033 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Johnny Montana just because it's a smaller tip doesn't mean he won't have runs. I bet you he had a couple of runs. He sprayed pretty heavy and sometimes paint just doesn't want to hang right. He has very good technique. I just like spraying my trim with 2 light coats so I know there isn't any runs or sags. The only bummer about spraying is having to touch up. If you have to touch up you can't use a brush or roller because it will flash.

    I have a question. Does it create a problem when painting the walls with the semi gloss over spray on the walls. Does it have to be sanded or primed before the walls can be painted? I assume it is much easier to cut in a nice line with the molding being painted first. Great job!! Thank you for taking the time to make the videos.

      I've seen 2" masking tape or two quickly put down on the wall around the frames to minimize the amount of overspray on the walls and avoid "shiners "

    • @swordsinging1709
      @swordsinging1709 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewaguirre9206 you have tear out on the drywall. I have found that a better controlled technique with less over spray plus and flat palm sander and sanding sponge after to scuff it well. Will bring the enamel down closer to drywall status. Although you will never get the same absorbsion and that is the true issue. It can be cut in in two coats though but even a quick 3 cuts for me if necessary is better than all that masking and failure and respackling then touching up again lol

    A bit much rist movement, keep the gun facing straight on and equal distance away from what you're painting as you spray it. Start moving the gun ever so slightly before you pull trigger and keep it moving after you let off trigger to prevent any build up or lap marks. Not a critique, just proper technique.

      I was kinda amazed to not see the finger feather technique on the doors. You can minimize overspray by letting off the trigger as you hit the end of your piece, but you need to remove the extension. A 515 tip is a bit more efficient as a commenter stated earlier. My back hurts just thinking about the extra times I would need to bend over with the 300 series tip.

    • @brooksbroberg6307
      @brooksbroberg6307 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No matter how I feather it, I have way too much splatter when I stop the spray. I'll try this technique.

      I use a 510 on doors. Way fewer times up and down. But then after 45 years of painting I’m always looking for ways to make my body last another 45 years.
      Plus I don’t use an extension on trim due to spits.

    Amazing work. I don't know how you all are keeping the atomized paint from settling on things all throughout the house. I see that you have a lot taped/bagged off, but at one point you were spraying trim next to what appeared to be a wood door. Was the atomized paint under tight control, or did you have plans to repaint that brown door, and you didn't care about contamination?

    • @chipsNsalsa
      @chipsNsalsa 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looked like that was the front door and it was caulked n preped for paint. I'm guessing it needs to be primed still before putting final coat on so he didn't spray it in the video. Which the priming is normally done already before finish coat but he may not have done it yet for video or timing purposes. Who knows.

    I think painters and other people need to calm down about not having the hardware / door handles taken off.
    I've been painting for 15 years, worked on multi million dollar projects both in the private and Industrial
    sectors and it may not make sense for many to leave the hardware on, but for the tradesman doing the job,
    it saves him valuable time and prevents the likelihood of any damage occurring from taking hinges off and on.
    Sometimes the painters have no spare room available to hang doors for painting, so
    it's easier to mask and paint whilst on. Imagine working on a new build where 45 doors throughout the house
    are to be painted dark red whilst the builders and painters get stuck in to varnish the walls and ceilings
    and trim. I've worked in many scenarios where you have to do things on the contrary, and what does
    it matter if it doesn't compromise quality?. These guys look pretty good to me, Nice work lads.

    • @cpe1704tks.
      @cpe1704tks. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disagree. The hinges are removed from the door and are against the wall, lots of spare room. It takes two minutes to remove the handles versus two minutes to mask them. Looks 100 percent better to remove and put back, clean crisp lines. You can never mask perfectly. LAZY.

    Used an airless sprayer today for the first time and I want to know how you prevent so much overspray in the air. The room i was spraying was clouded out within minutes. I was covered in paint specs and if I didnt shut a door the whole house (empty) slowly filled with overspray dust.
    So what's the trick? I had the paint flow down to almost minimum as well. Thank!
