With new pick ups they go in a separate pile Phill. My other thing I do is get a writing pad and pick 10 plus movies to watch in a certain month.Christmas is fun, my first movie this month was Conjuring 2 that has a Christmas feel.
@@BrianSmith-lj6ug think I just need to be a little more organised and prioritise some of these flicks. Could do a list so I don’t ‘forget’ any of the newer titles
I think my shelves can take around 3000+ titles... but I have over 5500 so I have masses in boxes. Even though I do have a _reasonable_ filing system with my tracking software it still means it's *SO* difficult to even have a separate 'watch sooner' shelf or area; I don't have space to add new titles in any order (other than by a box of a couple of months at a time) let alone daring to risk putting things 'out of order' leaving me with an "Is it in the date order box, found a space on the right shelf or is it in a 'watch ASAP' box (which might still be months)". Hopefully I can do some serious curating; partly ensuring 'updated' titles where I have the Blu and the 4K are only left with my choice version (at least on the main shelves) and partly putting DVDs into sleeves to make room for Blu-rays which are my main focus. It's a huge job though with so many thousands of titles to deal with... and more being added!
@@blujustin4175 I’ve sleeved some old DVDs for the space, some Blu Ray too. It made a huge difference to the space so don’t feel quite as bad about losing the boxes. As you say though, it’s a big job sorting what stays, what goes and what goes into a box or a sleeve. One step at a time though, it doesn’t need to be done all at once.
@@PhillwithadoubleL I tend to find the problem with the logical slow but steady approach is that *during* the work there often seems more mess than when you start... at least until a significant portion has been completed!
I wouldn't say I suffer from it but I'm certainly guilty of making a good pile. I used to gather them so I could do a monthly update to the collection, but ended up with a huge wall-sized backlog. I like keeping a log of my new purchases so I don't forget to watch anything as I tend now to embed them directly into the collection after I've received them.
My current pile is currently just one pile. Ten titles (mix of series and movies). It's in front of one of my shelves. The one in currently watching i have next to the player. When i finish one i put it on the shelf/organizer then grab the next to put on/ leave next to the player to go to next. When new stuff shows up i put it at the bottom of the pile.

I have a question. What percentage of your disks do you think you have watched? So by this I mean physically put the disc in the player. For example if you went to the cinema to see a film then bought it but haven't watched the disc this wouldn't count as watched.
