This is one of my all time favorite movies. Carl Brashier was a remarkable man. Not only was he the first African American Navy Diver he was the first African American Master Diver and the first Active Duty amputee in the Navy.
"I GOT HIM! WE'RE BRINGING HIM HOME!" Two very short, but very powerful lines. Those two ridiculed him. Berated him. Wanted nothing to do with him. They were hateful human beings, and in the end, they finally saw the type of man he truly was. To me, it was one of the best character developments in cinema.
My mother was in the Navy for 30 years. 12th African American woman to retire at her rank. She served in most costal US states an well as Hawaii, Germany, and Bahrain on several deployments on the USS Harry S. Truman. My father was also in the Army for 15 years. Seeing any military service is an honor as well as a sacrifice. So Thank you Devin. 👊🏾
An absolute legend in the Navy, Master Chief Brashear earned more respect than anyone I’ve ever heard of. If he were my Master Chief today, I would be terrified, honored, and privileged all at the same time. Never question what a man like him is capable of. HOOYAH, MASTER CHIEF!
Cuba Gooding Jr is so talented, it's a shame I don't see him in much stuff anymore. And this is low-key one of Robert De Niro's best roles! I would have thought he'd been in the service!
This movie is really inspirational regardless of color. But as a black man in 60s US navy, he went through hell and proved everyone wrong. Great reaction Devin!
Arrrrrrrdevoin bless you sweetheart he was an inspiration and he not only did it for his self but for his people to fantastic role model for Afro Caribbean communities he was an incredible amazing fantastic man
Oh man, another great choice, my man!👍 This is a hugely underrated movie that I have always enjoyed immensely. Every actor was absolutely perfect, both in terms of casting and their performances. Every other aspect was on point as well. What a truly amazing and inspiring story. Cheers, my dude! 😁
You young brothers have no idea how difficult it was. Devin we were cheated out of things that we earned with blood sweat and tears and it did not make a difference to people like that and even now today there are those who want nothing more than to return to those times. Absolutely one of my favorite movies. Great Reaction as always young brother.
@@misterbobby8913 We need to stop segregating history into white, black, hispanic, or asian and just tell the whole truth so we all have a more clear picture of each other :)
Hey Devin I've seen this movie so many times and it is just one of the greatest stories of courage under unimaginable hardship and man-made roadblocks! Every time I see this movie I said tears of empathy and pride for what Master Driver Carl Brashear endured to achieve so great of an accomplishment! You look like you've done a cut phase I was noticing that the last movie I watched with you looking good Devin you're an inspiration in the iron game!
I remember the first time I watched this movie with my mom. Such a powerful impact! An amazing performance by everyone and that court room scene lives rent free in my head!
I saw this movie many years ago and touches me the same today, as it did then because of the unwavering, unapologetic, unstoppable pride, honor and integrity this man moved with, believed it and lived by. It's men like the man this movie is about, my uncle and all the other men or women that serve in our military but moreso those that may of went through similar struggles and triumphs as seen in this movie based from real events, has shown. This is why when I see anyone disrespect our flag, our country, it sends rage through the very core of my being because of soldiers such as this soldier and what they went through to become fighters for our freedom, protection for our country and for ourselves and loved ones. Fantastic review that moved me to tears. ❤️
Square that rig and approach the rail! You replied, get your ass up! That said it all for me. You understood! Duty. Honor. Respect. Country. These four can never be abandoned. I love your reactions.
First time watching you. I really dig your reaction brother. In fact I like the cut of your jib all the way around. From a former Gung Ho Infantryman of the US Army, all the best to you and yours brother! PSS: Idk if your still doing “reactions”, but I hit like/subscribe.
Awesome movie. Gooding Jr's finest, and imo Deniro's as well. Honor is in short supply today, maybe moreso than it has ever been...and I include my own self in that statement. A honorable man is rare indeed but he is truly one of the greatest treasures on Earth. I don't care what color he is.
Loved seeing a reaction to this movie from a former man in service, appreciate your service bro!! This movies will always be one of my favorites and the court scene is one of my favorite movies scenes ever just so inspirational.
I got so much respect for you Devin. You are a yoked veteran, but you cry of joy when you see people walk past adversity. I respect the hell out of that. Thanks for your service, but mostly thanks for being such a solid human being.
How can you hate a man you don't even know to the point where you sacrifice your dignity, honor and integrity to mess with him? May they burn in hell for selling their souls like that.
Hey Devin, I found your channel I think a month or two ago and I've been lovin' your content, never listen to these people saying you put no work into these reactions just cause they're reactions, you put great editing etc into these!, Keep up the great work brother!, Much love from new Zealand!
Great film and based on a true story. Quite a few Naval personnel are aware of Carl Brashear's story. In fact, If you read about his life you'll see the things they had him do to get reinstated in the movie are child's play compared to real life. Still one of my favorite films.
This is one of my favorite movies. Cuba Gooding was perfect for this role. Moral of the story is don't ever give up no matter the obstacles. It's a true story, we have the book in our library. Very inspirational. Love your reaction.
My grandfather was an extra in the alternate ending. Old guy with the long pony tail. He went down with the USS Spence in typhoon Cobra. Swam for days before they got picked up.
Devin that G stands for 🐐you always come through with the best movies👏🏽👏🏽 I’ve been so confused why I hadn’t seen any reactions to this classic. Denzel and Cuba are beast when it comes to biographies…….Radio is another good true story if you haven’t seen it!!! It’s right up there with this and remember the titans
It’s a true story and according to some of the folks who were there its about 80% accurate to the story. I love this movie its so good, and I love cuba gooding and Danero’s portrayals
Amazing movie, amazing story, I cannot believe more people haven't reacted to it but I thoroughly enjoyed yours! I just finished watching a reaction to Hidden Figures and it reminded me of this movie so I came looking to see if anyone had reacted to it and I found just two!!😮 Thanks for covering it, my father served in Vietnam in the 70s and every time I see this kind of thing I think about the things he and so many other Black men went through in the US Armed Forces.
We had an Army pilot on 660 Squadron in Sek Kong, Hong Kong, who lost a leg in a flying accident, and was eventually returned to full flying duties. But when he mentioned the oldest tradition in the Navy was honour, unfortunately as I found out to my cost, honour didn't exist in a lot of people in the RAF.
Wanted to watch the 12 steps scene from Men of Honor, found your channel. First, thank you for your service. Second, the protein shake conglomerate thanks you for your patronage. Third, subscribed. Gotta binge watch you sir!
One of my favorites!! I’ve watched real videos of Master Chief Boatswain's Mate Carl Brashear and was truly awestruck and humbled. It amazes me that some people, no matter the circumstances against them, whether it be the climate of the times where ones race is the obstacle, lack of education, or even handicap. This man’s grit, passion, tenacity and perseverance drove him to break down barriers that were deemed impossible and pave the way for future Navy men, including his own son.
hei Bro...i watch tour reactions every day...i am a veteran too..and i love tour videos for me are more good then the others...don't stop you Bro...god bless you and all Heroes Who falls for Freedom!!
This is one of my favourite movies of all time and it’s a TRUE STORY this is a fantastic incredible movie and this guy was the most incredible amazing strong brave courageous men I’ve ever heard of god love ❤him respect to the moon and back
I got to meet Master Chief Brashear while I was in Cali. He spoke to my command then joined us for lunch. I could have sat there for a week just listening to the stories of his life.
I don't think anyone's ever had a dry eye at the end of Men of Honor. It's such a good movie.
I did I was only 8 it wasn’t until I watched it again a few years later at 15 it hit me and I understood the movie
Tis indeed
This is one of my all time favorite movies. Carl Brashier was a remarkable man. Not only was he the first African American Navy Diver he was the first African American Master Diver and the first Active Duty amputee in the Navy.
Yes I no it’s truly incredible never had such respect for a man in my life god love him he’s an inspiration
And not a bitter bone in his body.
This was one of those movies I used to watch regularly. Movie is so good. "Goddammit Cookie, move your ass, I want my TWELVE!!".
Best scene in the movie!
12 steps really got me. One of the best scenes!!
Motivational AF ~
The best scene ever
"I GOT HIM!
WE'RE BRINGING HIM HOME!"
Two very short, but very powerful lines. Those two ridiculed him. Berated him. Wanted nothing to do with him.

One of the best scenes: “God damn it Cookie I want my twelve!”
THE best scene. It's literally the payoff for the entire movie.
As always, the right kind of reaction.. I saw this movie like 8 times back in the DVD-days, an amazing arc of a story
Cuba Gooding Jr is so talented, it's a shame I don't see him in much stuff anymore. And this is low-key one of Robert De Niro's best roles! I would have thought he'd been in the service!
Yea there's a rkelly type situation is y u don't c him anymore....sad

There was a time where his career was booming. I wonder what happened?
@@deving9793 Did a little research, looks like he's been accused of sexual harassment.
This is one of Robert De Niro's best roles!*
Kids and this "low-key" bullshit.
This movie is really inspirational regardless of color. But as a black man in 60s US navy, he went through hell and proved everyone wrong. Great reaction Devin!
I'm a Navy vet and I blubber like a baby every time I see this. So much heart and incredibly acted.
Arrrrrrrdevoin bless you sweetheart he was an inspiration and he not only did it for his self but for his people to fantastic role model for Afro Caribbean communities he was an incredible amazing fantastic man

Every role was on point!! Even the Captain

This movie and knowing this was real, has really been a huge eye-opener for me. Man, I can't believe it. So messed up.

Yes!!!!! I LOVE this movie!! And NO ONE reacts to it. I mean there are a lot of swears that could need to be edited out but still…. Love it!

This is a very underrated film. And a great true story. Robert de Niro gave his usual excellent performance but Cuba acted his heart out.
You're one of my favorite TH-camrs right now, I love that you're not afraid to show emotion and really say what's going through your head.

No ONE in the military should ever set anyone else up for failure. Crazy to see or hear that this went on.
Carl Brashear: Why are you doing this?
Sunday: To piss people off.
One of my all time favorite movie performances is De Niro as Chief Sunday.
Thank you for reacting to this! A story that needs to be retold as often as possible!
Determination is not even the word to describe Carl..amazing what he did and also ridiculous what he " had" to do just to be level
Men of HONOR! Something our world is sadly lacking!
