    Very helpful. Thank you very much. Although, I did not need to take the multi functional switch out. I just loosened it.

    Thank you for the instruction. FYI the 2 #20 screws are both on the left side of the blinker arm.

    Just had ignition switch housing replaced on 2010 ford escape. Car is cranking but no start. Battery and starter tested good. Any ideas?

    Would you know, does the small Signal Wire from the Starter Motor Solenoid lead directly to this Ignition Switch? also, whats that splice into that main harness loom? i think i need to do something like that. my Signal wire is not giving 12V to start, but if i jump the 2 posts it'll start...

    Do I need to program the key if I get the whole ignition with keys from a junkyard

  • @Apolloisbest

    What is the metal key pin that goes into the ignition switch called?!?

  • @evolantics9318
    @evolantics9318 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What's the best way to determine if it's the switch? I have an 08 escape that is not starting and I've checked battery starter and relay, all are good but the vehicle initially had a problem where it sometimes wouldn't crank unless you pressed firmly toward the column with the key before turning it. I'm trying to figure out at this point what needs to be replaced and my search has led me to this video

    • @FerKurl
      @FerKurl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably gonna be the switch if any type of pressure or key jiggling makes a difference on whether it starts or not. If u can get it to the point where it’s consistently not starting, have someone hold the key to the start position (while the problem persists) and test to see if it’s sending voltage at the starter relay 👍

    • @evolantics9318
      @evolantics9318 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FerKurl yes today I checked voltage at the starter and relay. I get the voltage at relay and I have constant voltage at starter but it doesnt fire the starter when ignition turns. Now ive discovered that my anti theft light is flashing when I try to start it. I tried reset the anti theft and no fix. When I bought it the power steering was failed and the previous owner said he had a new steering angle sensor installed. I tried replacing the electric motor and that did not fix it, so I'm beginning to wonder if the two issues may be related , and if I understand correctly then either a problem in the steering column or pcm could potentially cause both problems but I admit this my first encounter with this model vehicle and my first experience working around electric power steering or with ford in general, it's giving me a challenge though

      @@evolantics9318 did you ever figure out the problem?

    • @evolantics9318
      @evolantics9318 ปีที่แล้ว

      @pECULIAR gYPSY yes I did, the anti theft system had tripped and I ended up having to reset it and then I changed out the whole steering column and kept my original ignition switch

    • @aznative_
      @aznative_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evolantics9318 was this something you were able to do on your own to reset the anti theft? I think that's going on with my Ford escape. And it wasn't really clear why you replace the rest of the column. Why was that necessary?

    If lost my keys how can I get it working! Some people are telling me that I will be needing a chip in the ignition switch to get it to run??

    • @tmart9084
      @tmart9084 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey There.. Not sure if you've got your ignition fixed yet or not it's been 2 weeks since you posted. If you install a new switch you "WILL" need the key to unlock the steering wheel. Today is Saturday March 11 and I'm about to go out and finish the install. It's to bad youtube wouldn't allow us to post either a pic or short vid in the comment section it would sure help
