I made and aquarium to replicate the white cloud mountain habitat. A very simple design using seiryu stone, quartz sand and a plant that is not designed for aquariums haha. This is something I have had planned for a while now and I'm really happy with how it turned out. A very simple design but I feel it gives and nice effect. Keeping things simple but still look half decent is a whole skill in itself. These rock scapes always resonate with me. I like to go for walks, and we have a lot of streams, rivers, creeks, pools, outlets and such around. What most of them have in common are minnows, rocks and sticks. Not much by the way of vegetation in the water itself. As an aside, I love white clouds too. Easy to get, easy to care for and the look good.
I would love to see you attempt a tall aquascape that's similar to the paludarium tanks you've used but solely water/an aquarium. It would be interesting to see the different fish in the varying areas of the water column!
i actually caught white clouds in a shallow stream running near a temple on top of a mountain, when i was a teenager. i didn't know what fish they were until i read that thin fish book i had back then. i still keep this fish and paradise fish, they are my childhood memory.
Great design for a great fish! Love them. Been thinking about starting some tanks after 20 odd years away from them, and this video has been the push I've needed! Now I have to source some healthy minnows! Thanks.
I love the layout of the room, it's quite easy on the eye, very colorful and welcoming...adding the red root pulled the color to that side of the tank...good job...!
Get creative and fix that than! Also, remember our friend M.D. has a load of sponsored stuff. That makes it a lot easier. If thing don't look as good or just don't work out he can just use some other stone, wood, plant ect. Just learn from him(and others) and most of all, enjoy your hobby!
Sorry that this is a reply to a long-ago comment, but would you or MD be able to tell me what plant he used? I couldn't read the label, but I actually looked up this video because I saw the tank in one of his more recent videos and thought the plant was beautiful.
I believe that the plant is Nandina, commonly known as heavenly bamboo. Depending on the cultivar, it grows from 3-8’. But, I am sure it can be trimmed down to keep it very small.
Another beautiful scape. I winced at 2:20 when you dropped that rock. Probably because I dropped and cracked my iPhone glass yesterday😁 I never thought of Nandina as an aquarium plant, or even an indoor plant. Here in SoCal, where is called Heavenly Bamboo, it’s a major landscape plant. People have 6’ hedges of the stuff in full sun. It looks great, but you might want to keep an eye out for an eventual replacement. Luckily, the way you have it set up, that will be easy.
This is the best habitat that anyone has created for the ubiquitous minnows. They are so adaptable and so versatile that mostly we match them with the parameters that are more suitable for other fish in the tank. Nice job haha.
its a beauty.. Put a few strains of thick cotton yarn, trough the bottom of the plastic planter. have it in contact with both the soil and the water and it will wick up water to the plant.
I love this! Very simple, anyone could do it. Also with an easy to find fish that, I think, doesn't need a heater. This may be one of my favorites :) Beautiful!
I am doing a vampire crab tank with a nano tank like this. I've been scowering the internet, not successfully I may say, and then all of a sudden you drop this brilliant "how to" on the pump setup I need. Thank you sir
Bro i have no words, everything looks fantastic! I look to your aquariums and I will like to have one of them ... Love your work !!! And I just wait for next video
Absolutely love this aquarium. I'm picking up a tank today,it needs abit of TLC but I'm confident I can get it up and running. This video is just perfect and I will be doing my best to replicate your gorgeous set up❤
Wow, it looks so pretty and calming Edit: if I ever get the chance to go back into the freshwater hobby then I will take it but now I’m into the full saltwater hobby
Back here to watch this video a second time around as I'm about to set up my White Cloud Mountain Minnow tank. Now that I've done more preparation, I can get more out of this video, and appreciate the effort and planning you have put into this tank. Sure it's not complicated, but bearing in mind all the different aspects this video gives a great overview of an example setup for this species.
Love watching your channel, every video is something new and I like your creations, very inspiring, keep up the great content and can't wait for another video
Absolutely love that I think I might be going to the aquarium shop and getting a new tank set up and md was thinking you are still more then welcome to pop round and see my koi pond be 4 I start to knock it down and build the new pond I am planning 👍👌

I really really like this tank. I think I would have stopped with the mosses for a while and see what I thought about adding more. The multi colored plant at the top of the “mountain” is brilliant!
Hi! I think you should give Utricularia graminofolia a shot in that setup. Plant it somewhere above the water on the rocks with a thin layer of javamoss as it's "substrate" whith some water running through it from the waterfall. It has worked out really well for me and it looks amazing when they bloom.
It is a very nice tank! One thing for me - I wouldn't use a plant that has a higher potential to be toxic when there are other options. Just for me, I wouldn't want to have to stress about making sure I pick the berries off.
I literally just dropped 6 white clouds in my tank i've been growing for a few months! and some of mine already seem pregnant, no doubt you'll be having fry in here!
I love your full set up bro.. i subed the other day and literally binged watched all your vids.. i used to keep african cichlids a few year back but got rid of them. I was devastated, but watching you do your set ups and everything else is making me want to keep fish again think al be going for the same as you this time. Ive learned so much off watching your vids so thanks for sharing your knowledge bro keep them coming 👍😎👊
wonderful choice of fish - got them myself in gold! They are my favorite aquarium fish up so far! I would give them some little pinches of green in the foreground to complement the look!
Great work with this scape!! Although I think a tiny amount of dwarf hairgrass or something similar would look incredible inbetween the seiyru stone! That's probably just me tho tbh Also I think that other tank would be great for a betta! Whether you move Mike in or get a second betta, seeing a single betta in a tank a good deal larger than they need always looks great! Edit: I think inbetween the stone is not quite the word I was looking for, more so near the base of the stone is probably closer to what I mean ^^'

Hello from Brazil!
This is really one of my favorite TH-cam channels that inspires me. Tanks!
Have you no heating in this tank?
mist maker? i think it'd complete the white cloud mountain look
@@jannerkev no, these are temperate fish. Ambient temperature is preferred.
what size is this tank? I didn't understand the website description given 😅

I am normally a more plants person, but I think this could be your best scape yet. Everyone should keep White Cloud Mountain Minnows at least once.
I would love to see you attempt a tall aquascape that's similar to the paludarium tanks you've used but solely water/an aquarium. It would be interesting to see the different fish in the varying areas of the water column!

Simplistic yet complex. Amazing setup and would love to see the moss take over and see the development of the big plant.
I love white clouds. Such an easy fish and so pretty.
Brilliant MD! I love this look.
Floaters match the emersed plant so well 👍🏻
I love the layout of the room, it's quite easy on the eye, very colorful and welcoming...adding the red root pulled the color to that side of the tank...good job...!

I love it... I think we had those in front of our house as a kid and if I remember correctly they got pretty big like a small tree Shrub
...shhhesh, I better get a bigger tank 🤣

Please make one of the three a betta tank, you don't see many amazingly scaled betta tanks and it would be fantastic❤️❤️
Mo' betta.

Stunning! And WCMMs are so underrated but seem to be making a come back. Awesome fish and so easy to care for.

Looks amazing, maybe some terrestrial moss on the rocks under the big plant
