    My mansion is getting an addition. Today I am attempting to prepare the work area around the house for the new garage and bedrooms. I come up with a plan, fix a dump truck, operate large equipment, break and remove old concrete, load a dump truck, run a demolition saw, and learn a lot along the way.

      Is there anyway you can include an oil pit in your new garage? My old neighbor used to have one in his garage. He used to change everyone's oil for super cheap. I know you do all your own maintenance, so an oil pit in the garage would be super helpful. Just a thought. Not sure what the protocol is for oil changes right now. Just thinking ahead and how nice that would be to have.

    The brake booster is called a hydra boost. It has hoses that hook in to the power steering system. That electric motor under the booster is the backup pump if the power steering pump breaks or the engine is shut off. The wire you unhooked is the positive power wire. Check your brake light switch, it triggers the motor along with relays and stuff. Most common problem is the brake light switch.

    The ethanol plant my husband works at did an addition a few years ago and in doing so, unearthed tons and tons of huge limestone junks and slabs. Anyone willing to load and haul it, was welcome to it for free. I begged him to bring home a few truck and trailers full. He did and i built the most beautiful waterfall/pond feature on a hill out back. The pond part is hidden by river rock my grandson and i resourced from big walnut creek 5 gal buckets at a time. I made stepping paths all around the back garden area and a walled rectangular fireepit area with them and then had over 15 ton of gravel brought in to fill it all in. HARD SCAPING is what they call it i guess, but it was a really beautiful way to incorporate the elements for tranquil harmony. WATER FIRE WIND EARTH. Flowers and trees, wind chimes and waterfall.

    I think I'd use all that fill to make a large berm out by the road in front of your house. A small hill which could give the place some privacy from the road and also be a great place to plant things. If the hill is high enough in winter your kids could use it to sled down and in the warmer months a good place to play on instead of just a large flat yard with no shady areas to play on. If there were trees planted on it in future there could be forts etc.

    • @warrenmichael918

    • @warrenmichael918
      @warrenmichael918 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@piperlynne1 still gonna take tons and tons of more dirt to make any berm worth having with such a long yard like he has. His yard is big out front but its not really flat, it has a pretty decent grade up to the house, at least up from the old tree rows he cleared out. I agree though that some trees or landscaping would look good but im not sure Cole wants anything out there. If i was gonna have some trees or landscaping out in the yard, i woulda been planting it as soon as my yard work was done so it has time to grow. Who knows what he will do though.

    Wouldn't it be more cost-effective to bring in a concrete Crusher. Then you have the crushed concrete to use for base material.
    In my area a smaller rock crusher rental is about $1,500 a day. That's about the cost of 4 tandem dump trucks of crushed limestone.

    • @gerryhartung736

    • @kevenhiemie
      @kevenhiemie 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If Cat rental, a subsidiary of caterpillar equipment rentals the biggest baddest Rock Crusher for $5,500 a day and someone charged $2,500 for 4 hrs to crush Rock....
      Now If a tandem load of crushed crushed limestone is $400 delivered. That's actually pretty cheap because I live in an area where there are three rock quarries very close.
      $2,500 ÷ $400 = 6.25
      So if that rock Crusher crushed more than 6 dump truck loads, it would be more cost-effective, right?

    Will you make any changes to the entrence to the house?
    Put it higher up so the steps are outside instead of inside? That way you get a bigger level floor inside, instead of steps and a small area of floor.
    And some kind of roof outside above the door, to not get rain or snow blowing into the house?😊

    I'd venture to guess that your other equipment isn't 24v, but 2 x 12v batteries in PARALLEL, When run in SERIES, then the voltage goes to 24v. More than likely, Ron's dozer is 24v. Great content Cole. 👍

    It’s always good to set a time limit to projects so you have goals. They usually don’t go the way you want. I like to think I want to be at this point by this time. Or this gets done then I can take a break. But sometimes if it’s not going the way you want, you need a break and then look at it after stopping with new eyes.

    HEY COLE!!!
    If you planning to do an underground home theater system here are some things you should know.
    Run Conduit Piping in the concrete, when you pour it.
    This way, when you run your speaker cables, cat 5 cable, or cables and power, you're not running them through a bunch of two-by-fours, which will rattle and shake not only the wood but the cables as well.
    Secondly, you need to purchase proper acoustic panels and sound-deading material to make sure the room's acoustics are correct. Not enough sound deading, the room will be too bright,... too much sound deading the room will be too dull. You need to find the correct amount of acoustic material to make it sound fantastic.
    Might I suggest installing a smart home connection system server in your house? This way you can connect and control everything from your smartphone (cellphone) and your voice, plus see everything that's going on. You can see if your security system and lights, music, temperature, and what windows and doors are open and unlocked. Plus your home theater too, as well.
    Lastly, picking and deciding what gear you want for a high-end home theater system. THAT THE FUN PART!!!
    Might I recommend these audio brand components:
    NAD
    ANTHEM
    MCINTOSH
    PIONEER ELITE
    As for the speakers;
    PARADIGM
    PSB
    BOWERS AND WILKINS
    KLIPSCH
    MCINTOSH
    BOSTON ACOUSTIC
    The company's have been around for well over 40+ years.
    Just find a reputable home theater audio installation company and have them sit down with you and your blueprints. This way you're getting what you're paying for.
    Yes, you think you could do this yourself Cole, but for this,...best to leave this one to the professionals.
    God bless have fun, and good luck!!!
    Keep up the great work.
    Ps. Your lawn looks great by the way!
