    This dude is living the life, awesome property near the ocean, growing avocado trees, flies his plane to a nearby point break...

      Yeah. Maybe he was the inspiration for Point Break but he actually got away w the $. Like DB Cooper.

    My neighbor smokes out gopher for a living. Our area is loaded with gopher, they killed multiple mango and figs trees but for whatever reason they leave the avocado and citrus trees alone.

      Do you know any good head examination shops? I thought about it for a second and realized that you were totally correct. I will be the first to admit. I went to shelter Cove and I did not fish. Let the stoning begin! And I promise I will go get my head examined. Thanks for pointing out such a gross inadequacy in my Psychological make up.

      @@ScaryHairyGary It's OK, ignorance can be forgiven. If you revisit let me know and I'll set you up. If you come during one of our Kayak Fishing tournaments I'll bring an extra boat for you. Although I did note that your friend Trent has a boat, Dungeness Crab, Salmon, Halibut or Cod etc, You decide which goes better with Guac. FYI I'm enjoying your videos and hope to visit your nursery soon and pick your brain about Avocados and grafting/ cloning them

    My home town. I was born and raised in shelter cove, kings peak.
    He is the only one in the cove with a salt water pool atm too.
    Trent's an old family friend. Old school $$$.
    He's got the cutest little gray kitten ever!! Smegol.
    Now that the weed market is gone, looks like avocados are the next big thing in the cove. 😆😆

    I'm excited! I'm north of Shelter Cove between Cape Mendocino and False Cape on the south side of the Bear River and think I might just have a little microclimate suitable to grow an avocado.

    I’m surprised the avocados aren’t heat starved. The average daily high temperature is 70f in the warmest months, with nights in the mid-50’s. The daytime temperatures are most commonly in the 60’s in summer, so the 85f he mentioned isn’t typical. He has demonstrated that the trees will thrive in quite a cool microclimate.

    • @maxgoldstein3483
      @maxgoldstein3483 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Avocados do well in most of San Francisco, which is similarly heat starved because of summer fog.

  • @bolengerin

    The thermal belt in Curry County OR just in from the coast in the mountains is probably the very farthest. Mexican varieties not Hass though. Get a decent S slope just inland and some summer heat.

    Gary how wide of a strip is the micro climate- meaning is it only about a 3 mile by 3 mile area so if you go 10 miles north or 5 miles inland are you already out of the micro climate bouderies?
