The Maria Black Avocado is a really good avocado. How many of you have tried it?
My favorite Florida Avocado is one called Oro negro. I also loved the Improved Pollock. There are some others I've tasted lately that are really good I'll be making videos about.
When I consider the season, production, tree size and taste I would have to say the Maria Black avocado is an excellent avocado to have in your Florida Yard.

I’m making my journey back to completely raw. I spent 5 years raw. Did great! Loved it! Don’t know exactly why I stopped but health reasons have brought me back to raw living. I LOVE my avocados when I’m raw. They are so satisfying!

Have you tried Wurtz? They are the only kind I have and I was skeptical how they would taste given that people plant them mainly because its a dwarf. But I have been super happy with what I have gotten so far. The size, pit, texture, and inside color seem really similar to the Maria Black in this video. They ripen November and December for me.
I have wurtz in the ground but haven't tasted it yet
Hey Paul, My local nursery ordered me a Maria B but I noticed the label as being a Maria when I received it. I have looked high and low but can't find any info on the comparison between the Maria and Maria B. Would you know the difference? The two nurseries I have talked to say they're the same but the label on my Maria describes it as extremely vigorous in growth habit rather than dwarf. Thanks for your time.
I would think they are the same but it's not supposed to be vigorous so I'm now sure.

Thank you for having so many tasters, who gave it a rating of at least 8. And along with others I'd also like to know how it compares to Improved Pollock. They are roughly the same season and tree size, right? WHICH ONE TO PLANT if you had to do an "either...or?" (From my experience both growing and tasting--multiple attempts--the variety NOT TO EVER PLANT in South Florida is Day!!! The tree is finicky, the fruit ripens inconsistently, and it has virtually no flavor compared to 90% of the avocados I've tasted. I don't know how Alex could like it!)
Interesting you say that about the day. I've heard only great things about the Day avocado and I just planted one. But I think the maria black is a dwarf avocado tree. Improved pollock seems semi dwarf
@@FruitfulTrees I'm sticking with my assessment of Day. My friend has a productive tree, which he's removing to make room for something better. And my two trees were duds. And although the fruit was buttery in texture, it was sadly lacking in flavor, not even as good as something like Simmonds or Choquette.

use good potting soil. What size in the tree now?

I enjoy them both. Only had one Catalina so until I taste more I am not saying what one I like better but both are excellent

You honestly expect an advanced tree to survive after being moved? Why do you keep moving your trees? Its irrational.
you can moved older trees and they often do well. If you see my videos you can see why I moved trees but yes it's best not to. People need to plan better and not make mistakes I did
@@FruitfulTrees hindsight is 20/20 I would have arranged my yard differently if I would have known I wanted so many trees!
