I was very fortunate to meet Donnie, Bobby and Neil at Huntsville Speedway in the 1980s when they were reaching out to young wannabe racers like me to pour their experience into us. While I never made a living racing, those memories remain some of my most cherished to this day.
    RIP Neil. 😔

It would be great to see that car with a 7 liter engine but with the short FR9 deck, there's no room to put much stroke into it. A 3.85" stroke would get you close but a 6" rod would leave you with a thin piston crown and a really tight ring package. I'm guessing there would also be cam clearance issues. But it's a cool thought. What a fantastic car!

It's amazing on how many race cars, trucks and boats that are out there that could be had pretty cheap. It also really shocks me that many with the means (and not a lot $$) don't want a garage trophy or something they can take to a local car or boat show and instantly be at another level then most there. One of the biggest You Tuber's channel took off when he picked up a Dale Earnhardt #3 race truck (I think Skinner raced) that someone put some lights on and made it street legal. The truck was a dog and it was not a show truck by a long shot. On the low end he picked up 100,000 Subs because of it. Being he now has millions the number could be a lot higher then that. And to prove you don't need Dale's Daytona 500 winning Chevy to make it something, I don't think their truck ever won anything. Trust me, I have a race boat that raced in the 1968 Bahama's 500. Going to the gas station can turn into an event. You show up to any local/regional event with a real Nascar car (no matter who drove it) you are in and should win. Just having it will also open a lot of doors to shows and such that the "mid life crisis" Vet or Camaro will not.
