      The key to successfully singing Africa in live: Never sing the chorus alone. At least 2 person need to sing the chorus on stage in order to make it nice to hear, especially for the last repetitions where "I bless the rains down an Africa" singing repeatedly.

    Ferociously thundering ! 🤘 Mos def the best live version I've ever heard of this song ! Everything is on point : from the vocals, and keyboards to the percussions/drums and God knows how hard it is to reach those high pitch notes during the chorus. You can really feel the groove. Much like Deep Purple, Toto gave their best live perfs in Japan. Thanks for sharing ! 👍 🤘

    • @jaggass
      @jaggass 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The first five shows Toto did on the Toto IV tour was in Japan and they did all of them completely stoned. I have 4 of them and they stand out from the rest of the shows on the Toto IV tour due to the energy and atmosphere. Japan is Toto's 2nd biggest fanbase.

    • @HedonisticThrillSeeker

      I'm still wondering why there's never been a commercial release of that series of concerts in Japan to this day. The sound quality coming from the soundboard's just off the freakin' chain. Stoned or not, they gave it all they got back then ! Mos def a time capsule of early 80's Toto. Thanks for the bit of trivia Mike 👍

      I don’t know how many of you actually attended concerts in the 70’s and 80’s but this is what they sounded like. People are so used to remixed, overdubbed, and auto tuned videos that they cannot appreciate real raw talent with all of its excitement and danger (yes a few wrong notes is exciting because it’s unpredictable) - that’s what LIVE music should be.

    • @jakelane5567
      @jakelane5567 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol The lead sounds great, so that assumption is incorrect, and yes, I attended many 80s concerts, has nothing to do with newer technology. Kimball was just having a bad night, it happens.
