Catching up on the uploads I missed and I fw this heavy. I don't really want to go on a rant right here but def relate to this in 8th grade-Freshman year of HS before I cut all of that out of my life.

Thank you for making this video Ice Gold. It's very important that we remember to not take games way too seriously so that it doesn't clash with our real life issues.
Speaking of clashing, I might as well provide my own experience too. I used to play a card-based mobile game on a daily back when life was simpler. In that game, I was a clan leader and a tryhard who really wanted to reach the leaderboards. However, as I continued to play the game, my ego began to take over and affect the relationships that I had with those in-game and those in the real world. I was winning games like crazy. You know, I was really good (still am...) but it had gotten to the point where I was genuinely disappointed with the clan members' performance and started kicking them out if they didn't improve because at that point of time I saw them dead weight, not people with lives. There was also, a time where I kicked out half of the members who were in my clan and doing nothing but cursing and slurring like crazy which led to me getting reported and temporarily banned from playing multiple times. I also remember making a really terrible joke that still makes me ashamed to this day because even my own friend had to step up and call me out for my narcissistic behavior (this is all personal). That's what it was. I can't sugarcoat my way around the facts. Eventually, I decided to merge my clan with another, but that didn't end well. I accused somebody of attempting to steal my clan members, even though I had no proof that they were trying to. It was "probably" miscommunication on my end. Eventually, that didn't work and my experience from there led to a full on crashout. I was angry about the entire situation and one of my parents saw the toll it was taking on me and said "you need to uninstall the game." So after I made nothing burger statement about the game developers and how they only wanted your money, I finally did what was right.
I uninstalled the game. It was the best decision ever and allowed me to learn so much more than what what I initially knew at the time.
Now, all of this happened sometime around 2018-2019. During that time, I was lost and began asking myself "what kind of person do you want to be Chris?" So, I put more time towards playing Wizard101 and eventually became a tryhard at PvE and Death PvP. During that time, Death was a "really" terrible school so I thought it would be fun to do some 130 PvP. I participated in a lot of tournaments and carried a lot of teammates from second because of stun resist jewels. I. Could. Not. Be Stunned. I was running 30%-40% so I was dogging fire and storm wizards left and right like it was a normal occurrence. I have a few games and experiences that I'm not telling you about, but that's okay, especially since i've written them in a document. However, I will admit that I was really garbage at 130 Death PvP. The highest rank I got was a 596 which was "Veteran" rank. As a result, I stopped doing 130 PvP and created a myth Wizard which stuck to low level PvP. Eventually, I finally got my Warlord Badge on my Myth and instantly, I stopped caring about trying to get 4th Age PvP Warlord on my other Wizards. All my life, I just wanted that one badge. Warlord. I finally got it. Tears of Joy.
    - If you've read all the way up to this point, I hope you like everything this comment has to offer.
Anyways, a few months passed and PvP started becoming restricted and the barrier to entry grew. Now that PvP has changed dramatically in the last 3 years, I really don't have a purpose in playing the game other than to do PvE. Eventually later in 2024, one of my Wizard101 friends that i've known back in 2018 was interested in creating a Guild. I told him "sure" let's make it happen. During that time, my leadership skills and community management skills improved greatly thanks to my time I spent in college. Anyways, thanks to him and the help of a few other players, we created a guild named "Social Penguins II." The guild's "main" focus is to help players advance through PvE and improve their overall PvE performance (that includes exposing them to the secret of soloing haha). Anyways, there's a lot that I'm doing in the back to help players have a memorable experience with this game. My work ethic is "insane." i could say more, but that's probably not needed.
So, when putting all of this into retrospect, it's really important that people understand why it's important to not take video games "too" seriously. Video games can have a negative impact on your life, affecting your relationships with others, and ruining your competitive performance, and shaping the way you interact with others as a whole. So there's a lot you have to consider and you need to set limits. You don't want to become the person I was back in 2018. You need to have some sort of balance that separates the real world and video games.
Anyways thats all I have to say. I hope you enjoyed this comment and I would love to hear your thoughts. If not, that's perfectly fine. I just really enjoy what you had to say and inspired me to make this lengthy walltext.
    Also incase you're curious:
Do I still play this mobile card game? Yes, my account still exists and I check up on both my clan and my clash history from time to time.
Do I still play Wizard101? Yes, however, I don't play PvP in any form, especially with the barrier of entry being so high now, although I would love to try out tourneys, despite how incompetent the Lead Developers are.
Have a wonderful and blessed day. Keep being a W to others and yourself Ice Gold.

i had a similar issue with a game that will not be named. i crashed out over it and realized how bad it was for me so i uninstalled it and quit, but my friends keep trying to drag me back to the game which worked once or twice for about an hour before i remembered why i quit and removed it again. my friends know my reactions to the game but they encourage me to play anyway. sometimes you have to be careful who you surround yourself with too.

Same here. Thats why I don’t have them around me anymore. They encouraged me to play certain games too. Games that would consume your mental health. And tbh at the end of the day life’s more than that. Stay strong

Happened to me with Valorant since I played 3 k hours CS:GO being global and an amateur professional, I got into valorant. I experienced exactly the things like you and after I quit Valorant my mental health improved A LOT. That’s why the only game I play is wizard pve. Life’s about more man.

Similar to me there was this game called Power Rangers Battle for the Grid. 3v3 fighting game that I played as a joke and I realized the game was much deeper than I thought. Eventually it grew to me playing the game for hours and hours everyday, constantly practicing and playing online. I was becoming an addiction to me as I played Smash games locally so I would attend tournaments for Smash games and Battle for the Grid. I noticed I was becoming more toxic and becoming ever more frustrated at my losses. In less than a year I had played over 2k hrs on Battle for the Grid and it came to the point I was playing against professional players daily and was ranked world wide. I’m glad that I was top 25 at something worldwide but my hand pains, sleepless nights, eye pains from staring a screen for hours on end, all while maintaining a full time job and school it was incredibly bad for my physical and mental health. I’m doing much better now that I’m just playing games for fun (like Wiz!) instead of playing games as a second job lol

I stopped PvP for that reason, now I just play advance and PvE. Enjoy maximizing other parts of the game such as gardening and organizing lol 😊
