Love your videos for information! Currently planning a 90-gallon tank and your S. American tank is very inspirational - I appreciate the same fish you do. Ultimately, I want the Balzanii w/Blue Acara and maybe a Severum (H. efaciatus); or if the Severum won't work out perhaps Geophagus sp. rio Tapajos - but I'm concerned about my tap water. You've mentioned you have hard water and higher pH. My tap is 7.4 pH and 13 GH and KH. Your fish look so healthy, I was wondering if you could share what your parameters are. Your success in harder water and higher pH might give me some comfort:)
Thank you! My ph and hardness are actually very close to yours. My PH is 7.8 out of the tap. Usually tank raised fish have more tolerance to it though, and I haven’t had issues. Just kept parameters consistent. Good luck with the new tank!
I bought my Balzanii after seeing Shadow in another video. They’re beautiful! Can they be kept on blasting sand? I’m considering it for my 180, is that acceptable?
Hello, very beautifull aquarium first of all 😁👍 I have a question and hope you could inform me about the type fishes and if compatibel in a indoor pond. In the near future i want a indoor pond, 158.50 gallons (600 liter). L:1.55xW1.15xD45 Would it be possible to combine, Gymnophagus Balzanii with: - Notropis Chrosomus (rainbow shiners. - Etheostoma Caeruleum (rainbow darter. - Notropis lutrenis (redfin bindweed) I hope you could help me with this, so i can choose a group of fish for a riverstream biotope, that can coexist together, with temporary heating and cooling. Hi Mate, how u going? I recently got 6 balzani around 5cm. I have stable 6.5 ph, do water change every 4 days and have a stable water temp. Few of the fishes would start spinning and would go flat when I go near the tank to feed them. As i move away they would recover and do their normal things. But sometimes they just don't recover and I lost 3 so far out of six. Can you pls suggest what's the problem with the balzani.
Cory M good for your stores; however we’re not teaching improper names, we give the scientific/real names in both videos and in each since then. Thanks for watching.

Yep, should be fine. 180 is a great size for one. I’d recommend the cool down period once a year if you can

How are they with plants?
They’ll dig around and uproot some, but won’t eat them
can they be kept in higher temps like 82-86 ?? does it really reduce their life span and possibly cause health issues?
I do think it reduces their lifespan. Faster growth but shorter lives
Do you think that goes for all fish ?
For some maybe, but the Balzanii much more so
Did balzani go with oscars ?
satanoperca jurupari and gymnogeophagus balzanii....
Cory M as we say in the care guides for both fish. Jurupari are typically sold as Geos, and we discuss the topic in that video
@@CichlidBros not in my area or any online stores I look. Teaching improper names for things is never a good thing.

You sure that's a female? 🤔
It’s a male! He was just getting the hump when I made this video, but it got much more pronounced recently.
@@CichlidBros yeaman, all that color and pointed fins were telling me it's a male. Well at least the name shadow will still workout for him.
