There's nothing flamboyantly crazy about this solo... but that in itself is the crazy part! It's so controlled and tasteful! The run at about 2:52 with all the b5 #5 stuff is freaking cool dude! I'm going to UNT this next fall for jazz trombone and I think transcribing something like this will help me a ton. I strive to eventually be able to do crazy things when I solo, but I think being able to play like this will be a large step in the right direction. Thanks for posting this beauty!
Something that a lot of young bones don´t want to understand. Playing a soulful solo beats playing a million notes per second any day... or night. Plus you meet a lot more women :)
it's story about two years ago, I received this sheet music from him, and played on the school festival of my univ. I was not good at playing Jazz music, but it succeeded cuz i practiced hard! also understood joy of jazz. thanks from bottom of my heart. from japan.
Just started started playing trombone again after 4 years after high school. Starting off with a Etude 100 student series trombone. Any advice on how to improve?
As I mentioned to Matthew, keep your improv fairly basic if just starting out. Practice scales up and down and thirds. Listen to people improvising and copy. Practice with play-along music. Type in "jazz backing tracks" to get started.
Thanks! Am using a Giddings and Webster, Harry Watters signature mouthpiece. The link is below... www.gwmouthpieces.com/products/harry-watters-signature-mouthpiece
BTW, Bill Watrous will be down here in San Antonio early December as a guest artist to play with our band. Every time he comes I take lessons from him and we jam to Jamey Aebersolds. What a phenomenal player he is.

Thanks for the nice note Samuel! I went to UNT in 1997 while getting my business degree. It's a great atmosphere for any aspiring jazz musician.

Where can I find the music?
Hi! I haven't done a transcription for this one but I think I might work on that and will let you know when it's done.
Do you have any sheet music?
The transcription is ready. Send me an email at davidjkline@hotmail.com and I'll forward you the transcription.
