You see old style ledger books used a lot in shipping/receiving departments to keep track of truck arrivals and departures. I’m a truck driver and I see those about once a week if not more often. They’re also used as activity logs in industrial settings and for security companies.
I love the vintage feel of these notebooks and also the sturdiness of the binding and covers. The index is super-useful for me, since my notes tend to be a record of all my meetings. With multiple project going on at any given time, I find it very useful. I have the B5 (my favorite size) in 100- and 200 -page versions to test which is best for me...but I can tell you I think the 200 will be my favorite. Great find! Thanks for the review!

Great review as usual. I have a huge collection of vintage ledger books - ruled with numbered pages. It is nice to be able to find a new version that has such nice paper as most of the old school ledger book brands that are still being made (which are very pricey) have lousy paper. Older ones (1980s and earlier) have paper very similar to this Kokuyo. So surprised the 100 page B5 version already sold out!
Thanks again Shawn for the recommendation. I tested a ledger book from LIFE as well and the paper was awful. I wasn't expecting that from LIFE. Yes, the B5 100 page version has already sold out, the A5 will also be gone soon. I did a smaller initial order just to see how people like them. My second order is larger but there is a 2-3 month lead time on time.

I love the look of this paper layout, the A4 size and I need hardcover (I often write on my lap...) Do you feel like the paper is quite smooth? I saw you mentioned some other ultra-smooth koyuko paper in the century edition. Is it similar to that, per chance? Thank you for the reviews!
Hi Pia, Thank you for the comment! The paper in the Auxiliary notebooks is quite smooth. I think the paper might be a bit thicker in the Aux book vs the Century Edition notebook.
