M503 engines were installed in Soviet Osa-class (Project 205) fast attack missile boats used by a number of countries. Each of these boats had three M503 engines installed. Engines were also installed in other ships. A heavily modified M503 engine is currently used in the German Tractor Pulling Team Dragon Fire. This engine has been converted to spark ignition and uses methanol fuel. Each cylinder has three spark plugs in custom-built cylinder heads. The engine also uses custom-built, exposed, cylinder barrels and a modified supercharger without the turbine. Dragon Fire’s engine produces around 10,000 hp (7,466 kW) at 2,500 rpm and weighs 7,055 lb (3,200 kg).
If it starts. It used to be very unreliable, but if it ran it really dominated the Competiton. Sadly, the according Category (5.4 Tons) was discontinued a few Years ago and since then it's hybernating in the Owner's Shed.

It's popular in nearly any place there are farmers. Before farmers had tractor pull competitions, they did ox pull competitions to find who had the strongest oxen.
It's about weight distribution. You basically want the front tires to float just above the ground so 100% of the machine weight is loaded onto the rear tires. Most stock farm tractors have split brake pedals for the rear so you can steer using them, pulling tractors also have them. They only need the front tires to steer if they get really off center. or enter/leaving the track.
This engine originally was supposed be used as a engine for a bomber for USSR (it supposedly have 6 or 4 of these) but the project didn't took off and they were converted from aluminium block to iron and slapped into a missle boat
@DaSchraadz It was designed for a Russian missile boat. The whole Russian project using it was kind of a flop. This engine is one of the few good things about that whole venture. This engine was never intended nor designed for use in any airplane.

Their decision to purchase an engine, fit to a chassis, proportionally increases the death rate in Somalia. Not poor Govt management, corruption, or simple abuse of power. Fools. Great video. Kudos to those that made the vehicle.
I have little hope that the upcoming generations will solve any world problems like inequitable resource distribution, geopolitics, or environmental issues when I see the display of intolerance, ignorance, and lack of perspective displayed in the comments on these videos. I don't much care for professional sports like football or baseball, but I don't go on all the videos vaporing about the waste of time and resources they arguably are.

When I found out about this, I was surprised to learn that they had tractor pulls outside of America.
They take it VERY seriously in NL and other places.
