A great vid for not skipping details like many on this topic. While I'm here, thinking of SHTF days, the real life obstacles are likely creeks and rivers. Travel means using bridges and bridges are gold - remember Saving Private Ryan? How many bridges did you cross today? Earthquakes, explosives or tribal gangs can mean you simply have to deal with creeks. Bridges are traffic choke points and perfect attack points too. So you use stealth AFAP and avoid the hazard: descent under control, yeah, fine, but the bigger challenge will be the deep crossing and the (9 times outta 10) steep slippery ascent up the opposite bank. That ascent is gonna be the test right there -thats what the prep work is for - right there - you are loaded with lots of gear and provisions and you need a winch that is reliable reliable reliable. So a good winch is BOV basic #1.
Jonah 365 outdoors Iv got a weird little follower that is subbed and thumbs downs everything I upload straight away. It's a bit strange that they spend so much time following some one they don't like but I suppose there will always be weirdos with issues out there.

Land Rover Toolbox Videos a BOV can be anything. I'm trying to find as many different vehicles that could be used and show them so ppl can get an idea of what can be done so that they can build there own vehicle.
Yeah i get the point. I'd go for a vehicle that could take parts form other motors that are common in the area to survive. Keep it simple as possible with the smallest amount of resources needed to keep it on the road. Ie: one battery and long enough cables to fit any sort of battery instead of a battery bank with spastic cables where one can't have a battery with the terminals around the other way.. . Now looking into a BOV for ourselves so I am watching your videos to see what folk are using. Very interesting so far. Keep up the good work bud.
Land Rover Toolbox Videos or the other way is simple redundancy like twin alternators so if a belt or alternator fails you still have one. Iv got two batts so if one fails I link or remove one. Solar charging so it's always topping up. My biggest problem is I'm running a 200tdi and parts arnt that common and it's not as field mechanic friendly so would like a 300 eventually.

poulsonarrow the standard landy is 1900kg and there is a fair bit of kit on it but it can be loaded up to 3400kg and another 3500kg towing capacity.
