The Sony Xperia 1 V was a big upgrade over the Xperia 1 IV and it fixed a lot of things, but the Sony Xperia 1 VI has a long way to go to be competitive for more mainstream consumers and these are the upgrades and features that I think the Xperia 1 VI needs to be a beast of a phone and compete with all of the top android flagship phones!

To me this is one of the best looking phones, it looks sleek, modern, and industrial. I also like the aspect ratio, it’s a large screen that fits comfortably in the hand. I hope they don’t change these two things.
I like the design too. It looks more like a tool, rather than a statement or accessory like other phones do.
True, I love utilitarian design. I prefer that aesthetic over everything else

I paid $1098 for the mark V and I like it a lot. The auto focus is really good. Audio is really nice. I almost never use the selfie-cam. I don't care for face recog either as the fingerprint reader works better than my Samsung ever did. I am a niche customer using both SIMs, cabled headphones etc.
If Sony has :
1: at least 5yrs of updates with better optimization
2: better basic (auto) mode for the camera would help immensely in video and low light and bring back FHD@960fps video they were the first to have it.
3: LTPO display with no notches or holes
4: better heat management
5: bring back the Xperia Album app
6: better DAC for the 3.5mm port
Literally that's all they need to make a perfect phone which would stand out from the generic Samsungs and iphones

They NEED to bring back the Sony Gallery Album.
They should also have a trade-in offers program.
The best android album gallery (fluidity, UI ,design, smoothess, layout). Period.
Pls Sony keep 21:9 ratio, I think is ok
however most people don't think its ok, I do like it too though, makes the phone much more one-handable and feels so nice

New design and I don't mind staying away from 4k and 21:9 To save more battery and provide a wider screen
but I do not want it to be smaller than 6.5 inches
I think the 2k display is good
I think if Sony does all of this, it will be a successful change

Thanks for the continous updates regarding Sony Xperia. Always preferring the 21:9 aspect ratio and a minimum of 5 yrs of software update and a more solid and sleek build.
They have to give more software updates if they want to sell the phone in the EU

I love Sony, but their record with updates is embarrassing. They don't support their products in the long term.
Please keep the 21:9 it's the best ratio I've had on a phone
Actual OS SUPPORT
I think the biggest thing to is trade-in value from your old Sony phones. That shows loyalty to your customers and a little bit more AI photography
The shutter button of Sony is the difference from all phone, so this a must to keep. The aspect ratio of 21:9 is also nice to keep. I have get used to it with my X1 iv. The SD expansion slot is a must to keep as photos sizes are getting larger nowadays, the headphone jack is okay to have. What needs to improve tremendously are the fingerprint sensor which sucks big time, and also the phone software. The phone performance are really below par. After all I really love my Sony X1 iv

Better 5G / NOT Shoddy Carrier support (tmo/ Verizon)
4k120fps display (at least uhd resolution on screenshots)
4k120fps camera sensors
Better Hard buttons (bring back the Google assistant button from 1iii, camera button can becone "action"button too)
4 years of OS updates
Actually what's at the top of the list for me is a super powerful native music player. I hear the built in one is pretty basic. If you're gonna have all those audio codecs and a headphone jack, make use of it natively instead of having us download a third party app like Poweramp.

Lol so did I, its arriving 2moro. Don't worry, every phone provider gives you 14 days return with a no ask policy. You can return it within that time with no questions asked.
So play around with it, if you really like it, keep it, if not u have plenty of time.
@@rayahmed9739 I think the phone will stay with me because I really like it, and there was also a significant price drop. I assume that it's better to stick with what's known than to venture into the unknown. The 1 V is very well-crafted. I'm concerned that the 1 VI might have teething problems, especially if they introduce a new screen.
@northshore7123 my main reason for the 1 V was for the snapdragon chip. I just want it for the aptx losless audio over bluetooth. Could have gone with s24ultra, but I'm so board of samsung.

@@rayahmed9739I have the flip 5 and fold 4. They are very scary when they drop. Not even a broken screen and the screen go off. Works on me trading.
I think Sony has no idea how close it is to being the number 1 phone on the market. The worst thing sony can do is get rid of the 21:9 aspect ratio and the 4k display. The reason is these features separate sony from the others. When you become like the competition buyers have no reason to buy your product. So never get rid of what makes you unique.
Here's what sony has to do to dominate the phone industry.
1. Improved AI and The point and shoot. Most of the population just want to point and shoot. Then you will have the business of professional photographers and the regular users as well.
2. Improve selfie camera
3. Software support for at least 4 years.
Just 3 things. And Sony will dominate the industry but Please sony do not get rid of what makes you unique.

I don't think that dropping 21:9 aspect ratio is a good thing. Especially in terms of the width - sooo easy to use in one hand. They can make their phones shorter and keep their width (comparing my Pixel 8 Pro and my Xperia 1 V - Xperia is much more easy to hold and use).
Dropping 4k - I'm ok with it. On such small screen it was a gimmick.
Longer software support - in EU now it's a internal regulation.
Xperia phones could use getting better (now it's decent) auto (or basic) mode. That would give people a choice.
Don't agree on the selfie camera, it can stay awful for all I care. Xperias have the benefit of the physical shutter button which effectively destroys the need for a selfie camera unless you want to be able to monitor your framing 100% of the time. In my case, I never use the selfie cause I can just spin the phone around and use the shutter button. I'm pretty experienced in how to frame my shots with the primary camera already so that's no biggie.
Xperias need what they've always needed, more software support, better screens (which will hopefully finally happen even though I'm VERY disappointed to see the aspect ratio changing, 21:9 on a phone was HUGE for one-handed use, everything else sucks by comparison), better fingerprint sensor (yes, they do need it, my 5 III does come up with that notorious "try again later due to too many attempts" thing often) and better rear cameras.
Dropping the resolution from 4k to 2k is an objectively good thing, I sometimes even question why 2k even exists on phones as 1080p is already unnoticeable but whatever. If the shutter button is removed as some of the leaks might suggest, I'm probably dropping Sony altogether and moving to another phone with a 1-inch sensor, the shutter button is the main reason I stay on my 5 III as it makes things so much more enjoyable and easy in photography right next to the aspect ratio.
I hope they swap out all of the sensors on the back now for better ones that hopefully all include that 2x lossless zoom crop (which hopefully means 2x lossless raws too). 2 focal lengths in each camera would be crazy, on top of the increased sensitivity. Heard the lens on at least the primary camera will be an f/1.4 which is great news, hoping that's the case with the rest too (besides the telephoto on the long end, kind of impossible there).
I want : variable aperture on VI :)
I have the sony 5ii and what i miss the most is a gps/google maps exception button the battery save mode (for better roamiing around cities, cant make continuous video witj all lenses also selfie lens. They should make that. So you can just switch to selfie cam within making a video, and i want a 1 second delay or so on the physical shutter button when having burst mode on so you can easely use both single shot and burst mode with the physical shutter button (would be easy), for the rest they need to make a zoom lens on the 5 seties again( the 5v was disappointing because of that (at least on paper)), for the rest this phone is almost perfect for me, software support maybe a bit better (but i dont care that much), and maybe a 4g/5g toggle in the slide menu (i use 4g to save battery and i also think 4g is fast enough for me but the problem is that whenever i get normal phone call i can not use the internet at that time, pretty annoying )
Maybe Sony should join T-Mobile and Verizon

selfie camera I don't really care, I'm not a social media person, I would like larger sensors for the cameras, better battery life, better software and a price of 1200 is acceptable

Yes mine works also perfecto..Had no problems so far solid phone.But I will buy a new one this year it will be a Sony for sure.
We need it to have better trade in availability. It also needs to keep the 4k screen. They should give better software support. But they need to keep the headphone jack and SD card. Faster charging would be great. It would be nice if the Sony gallery was a option again as well.
And. Observation. If certain people Stopped putting phones in the Back pockets and then sitting on them. Phones wouldn't need to be so strong. Cutting costs.
I hope they keep supporting the android open source thing and keep it easy to root

Let clarify what things you used daily on a smartphone, answer is the social media. And Sony did the best on display and sound, over than Samsung.
As far as I'm concerned. MORE than £1,000 is far too expensive.
I want whatever gets me max resolution when i take a screenshot. Despite the 4k Uhd screen, if the android OS is only forcing a resolution of 1440p / 1600p / whatever, i am NOT HAPPY. 😡
And you know. ALMOST every phone I've ever had has problems with the fingerprint sensor. Is it my own personal Fingerprints at fault?
I'm still agree with Sony sticked into REAL 12MP camera at the model from previous years, but since the world has believed that pixel binning 200MP will bring a better picture, soooo.... Yeah....
Biggest thing they need to do is step up their in dac game ,their dac neets to match at least the quad dac lg was using..

The problem is that when we upload stock hdr video from photos app without applying any trending insta song then it will be uploaded as hdr video but when we use insta trending songs on that hdr video then it will show as normal reel not hdr ?? Any fix or solution for this?

I hope they add an IR blaster and another quick access button so I can program it as a mute switch. For the life of me I cant figure out why android phones don't have a mute/vibrate switch
Oneplus is an android and it has such switch.

Fk sake. This is SONY. they have the Walkman, PLAYSTATION. Maybe, just MAYBE, they should connect these or be able to convert the phone into a walkman and playstation device playing ps 1, 2, 3, 4 games.

Honestly, you can’t tell that much of a difference between a 2K and a 4K screen but it does use up more battery and it’s more demanding for processing images and processing video so that who is going to burn up more battery it’s more expensive because less panels are made to support it probably and then depending on the aspect ratio know what kind goes well

There's no way I'm spending over 1K on a Non-AI phone. It's just not worth it. Whether you agree with it or not this world is going to adopt AI & I would rather do business with a company that understands that. At this point the Sony phone is going to be the new BlackBerry. It's good but it's not relevant
