Nice review. It was fun to watch you play around with that thing. Very chill and warm.Thanks. For anyone looking at this for recording music there are some things you should check out. It's pretty tough to get much into a DAW. No multitrack recording. Fun to play around with, more of a personal travel thing. I bought one with little research and was lucky enough to be able to trade for a Yamaha MG12XU which is better but still can only record out the stereo channels. You're playing was better than I thought. I really thought you were just going to keep strumming it. Thanks for the video!
With 2 channels, Pan each channel 100% Left and Right and you get 2 channel multitrack into your DAW. Example here th-cam.com/video/XtCgKMp8ofw/w-d-xo.html

+gooru2u c Yes, all the FX stay as last set with the PC. With the 2G's AmpSim, there is no option to turn it off on the mixer once disconnected. The on/off button for AmpSim is only available on the AG06. I have not tried the footswitch (Funny I don't have one) to see if the footswitch turns off the AmpSim as well as the Reverb. Having AmpSim on, the audio output gets a bit noisy, even if no guitar connected. As to the video. Just realised I have recorded the next part, but not yet edited or published. If you plan to use the guitar AmpSim, I recommend the AG06.

I want someone to explain to me ... when I use a program for multi-channel recording such as Steinberg Cubase or similar, I connect the guitar to channel 2 on the Yamaha AG03, headphones to the computer output, THE SOUND HAS A DELAY! (about 1/4 sec.) I can't concentrate, it bothers me. This is probably the result of USB audio processing. If I play a recording in Cubase that I recorded (accompaniment) and I want to record another guitar channel (solo), the sound on channel 1 and the one I am recording live are not synchronized. HOW YOU DO IT. Please help!!!
Thank you for the informative video. So, there is no need for a DI box with this unit, when recording guitar? Or will it be even better? (I'm looking for a sound comparison like you did with Behringer Xenyx Q502UBS) Thanks!
Nop, no need for any DI box, plug is strait into the mixer Guitar Input channel. You can even use the built in guitar amp simulator, with no PC connection!

Hello, thanks a lot for this video. my question is if do I need a direct box for conecting and recording with an electric acoustic guitar using my AG03?
where is the sound coming from, do you have speakers plugged direkt into the yamaha in the monitor slot? Or does that run over your laptop? i tried going live on facebook with this gadget but it wont pick up the guitar channel, just the audio, any ideas?
Hello thats a great video, any way i have yamaha ag03 and i use it for webcasting, is there any way or a trick so i can apply the equalizer from dsp with the output from my computer through usb? Sorry for my bad english, thanks
Thanks man for such nice video. I'm really enjoying your videos and learning a lot from your experience! Small question please; is the YAMAHA AG03/06 reliable as an audio interface for recording? I was planning to buy an M-AUDIO or PRESONUS interface for recording + a BEHRINGER mixer for monitoring and giving the singer a nice environment to hear some reverb and effects while recording. But here I'm finding all of these features in a single YAMAHA box, which is amazing!!! Just worried about quality of recording (bit rate, preamps noise level, etc). BTW I will use it with RodeNT1 for vocals mainly. Is it necessary for me to get a dedicated interface?
Thanks for the feedback. I recorded 4 songs for 2 different artists for their demo songs using just my AG03. Plug the guitar and record couple of tracks, plug mi RODE NT1 for vocals, directly. The musicians enjoyed it with the reverb FX with direct monitoring (recording dry). I also used the built in Compressor for the guitars to capture the transients for acoustic guitars. For the price, it is clean, 192Khz at 24bits, if you need to, I used 24bits 48Khz. It is the best gear for your money. For any serious vocals, you can use external Mic-Pre for better audio management, but in my client recordings, I used direct. Easy simple and quick. My HP Laptop came with "Beats" audio that I cannot turn off. It colours the audio so much, it is unusable for any audio recording, so the AG03 is my perminant audio output/input for everything. Never missed a bit since I had it, and running hours on end. Here is one of the musician's interview and you can hear a sample of the recording made with only AG03. th-cam.com/video/Pqsjh5glofE/w-d-xo.html
+RecordingStudio9.com Hi Vatche, thanks for your guidance, your prompt response is highly appreciated :) Ok if I decide to get an external preamp connected to the AG 06, can you please recommend good models with budget ranges from USD$150 to $300 (as I explained previuosly, the main purpose is vocal only). Or shall I postpone the preamp and increase my budget to get a more expensive preamp? Thanks in advance!
Hi! Thanks for this video! Do you know if it is possible to use the Yamaha AG03 as a DAC, so to send a hifi digital audio stream from the PC (24 bit, flac file) to it, convert the stream to audio and listen to it through a connected headphone?
Can anyone explain, on ag03 how to turn on or of amp sim for guitar, while is plugged mic on channel one? On ag06 for that, on channel two there is dedicated button and simple if you press that button the amp sim will be activated. Can you sing on mic on channel one and play guitar with amplifier simulator on channel two woth ag03?
With AG03, there is no dedicated button for the Amp Sim like on AG06, but you can use the App to turn the Amp Sim on/off for channel 2 guitar. Hope this answers.
The USB send to PC is pre main output fader. You can turn the main speakers down/off, and listen on headphones and send via USB. Details: th-cam.com/video/FxOPvzdseKk/w-d-xo.html
@@RecordingStudio9 Nice one. it's weird, because I fired off the same question to Yamaha and just got this response: 'The USB output is post Fader for both of the questions that you have asked about.' Both questions referring to the mic and main output faders. Do they not know their own products?!
This depends on the audio routing selection switch position. Dry CH1 + CH2G is post gain, pre channel fader. In Mix and Loopback mode, post channel faders, pre main fader.
For the price and what you get with AG03, I would go for the Yamaha. But if you want more inputs (more than 2) then Focusrite range, but you pay extra for that.
You have a lot of serious looking audio equipment. Regardless of the size and capabilities and cost of the various interfaces, how good is the quality of sound (voice) recording from the Yamaha pre-amp for condensor microphone compared to the sound recording quality using Focusrite interface and which of your interfaces has the best quality sound for voice using the condensor microphone input with a good quality condensor microphone?
Lot of time it is the quality of the microphone than the interface. The Yamaha AG03 having 24bit/192Khz data rate, that exceeds other interfaces in the same or even higher price range. Yes, I have used the AG03 to record few song with acoustic guitar and vocals. Here is the interview and parts of the recorded songs th-cam.com/video/Pqsjh5glofE/w-d-xo.html
Thanks in advance for your great videos. I am planing to buy an audio interface and I am facing two posibilities: Yamaha AG 06/03 or Steinberg ur22. However I hacve some questions though. Can I use Yamaha as standalone interface without using computer? If so, can I use any USB source power such as mobile or iPad charger to make it operative? Does it work with Auria DAW in iPAd or just only with Cubasis LE that come with it? Thanks a lot!
Go for Yamaha AG03/06, as it will work as stand alone mixer with FX. More and better options and specifications. And yes, if you have the connections for iPad, then it will work with any DAW on an iPad. The only option missing on Yamaha AG03/06 is MIDI. If you need MIDI, then UR22. Hope this helps.
I appreciate your prompt response to my questions. I have already camera connexion kit on my iPad, I hope I could use it with AURIA app. For the moment I do not need MIDI and I think Yamaha will be my choice since I need it to plug a guitar and a mic directy and use my USB ipad charger as power source. THANKS A LOT!
You will enjoy it. I use my AG03 everyday as my laptop audio interface and making TH-cam videos (audio). The noise is from the built in Amp Simulator (distortion) not the mixer itself.
Great video with test of guitar. It's an interesting unit which accepts guitar direct input. That's actually what I look for and play along with my backing track and record. However it seems the hiss sound far too loud, do you think so?
I just bought it yesterday eventually. Tested some of the function, i think the amp modelling is pretty noisy but luckily I can just ignore it as just with the gain the sound is good enough. Overall its nice. So now i can stereo out to my dslr and record directly as i really dont enjoy post production. Sound is much much better.
You are a good teacher, I enjoyed and am looking forward to your next video as I have just bought myself AG03 to work Cubase 10 Pro. I hope you will be able to help me? I am planning to use the keyboard as I am not a brilliant guitarist myself ! Thank you very much.
Hi, what do you think about the at2020xlr and the yamaha ag03 combo? will it be better than a at2020usb+ alone? If so, will the hd598sr sounds better connected to the ag03 instead of the pc?
Though it will cost bit more to have the Yamaha AG03 and AT2020, your HD598 headphones will also sound better and louder as well. With Yamaha AG03 you can use for anything, with AT2020USB, just a mic :)
I already own ag06 , is it good enough for recording vocals? I was thinking buying audient id44 but wondering do i need that? does this one has good preamps and sound quality?
@@RecordingStudio9 Yeah i bet that is the problem, its almost okey volym but after i put the volym on halv its start getting like distorsion sound. Its really terrible, but i will buy a Amp and see if that helps! Thanks alot man!
Sorry I'll try to be clearer. Let's say I'm using a mic on the pc and I don't want to hear the mic. This I can do with any interface. But let's say the PC is off and I want to hear what I say on the mic, what would I need to do for that? Thanks
Angus I mean Vatche ;) I hope you plan to do a comparison to 502 with the noise floor test , like you just did with the 1818 n 1616 units, would be interesting. also what is under expert tab? looks like a nice unit , even being about 3x as much as 502. FYI somebody learning smoke under water . Good Job, keep it up . I think he 12 oclock is the Angus setting . LOL Thanks .
+Ar Tonal Yes, looking at the expert options as well as comparison (Though AS03 I think is far better option) with Behringer Xenyx Q502USB of noise levels is on the pipeline.
+Ar Tonal I'm trying to keep my videos under 15 minutes and dividing them, so you don't have to watch the whole thing to find out about one option or a set of features.
Great walkthrough. Quick question: How do you get the "echo" effect into your recordings? I ask because when I push the effect button down on my AG03 I can immediately hear the echo effect in the monitor out signal sent to my headphones. But when I then hear my recorded material back it doesn't have the echo effect at all. It's just plain audio with no echo effect. How do I setup it up so I also get the echo effect on my recorded material?
@@Whitty43 Yes, with the help of an USB OTG. I use Note 9 and luckily it is included in the package. You also need a 3.5 mm aux plug to 2-RCA L R jacks audio cable in order to connect to a music source. Hope this can help :)
So you have your output audio hook to a powered speakers ever tried hooking it up to a 5.1 av receiver what could be the difference mine not so good sound from a Behringer Xmas 1800s mic any thought on that !
The Behringer XM1800s is a dynamic mic and very cheap, like $77 for 3 mics & hard case and free delivery. So better invest in quality mic if you want better sound.
I have one problem. When I use headphones or use the speakers in the headset I have a noise that lasts for 10 seconds and disappears. If anyone knows what the problem is I would be extremely grateful
Hey I'm looking to start recording some drums but I have very limited knowledge as to what goes into it. Does this mixer/audio interface allow multi-track recording on the DAW?
It only has 2 channels. If you need to track a full acoustic drum, then you need an audio interface with 8 Mics, like the Presonus, Focusrite, MOTU etc. If it is an electric drums and you only need stereo output from it, then yes, this will work.
I also planned on recording bass guitar with the Yamaha ag06 l and I just want you to give.me some advise on what divices or tools imay need in addition to the mixers

Glad you like it.
You are a good teacher, I enjoyed and am looking forward to your next video as I have just bought myself AG03 to work Cubase 10 Pro. I hope you will be able to help me? I am planning to use the keyboard as I am not a brilliant guitarist myself ! Thank you very much.
Have fun!
@@RecordingStudio9 Thank you very much !
With Yamaha AG03 you can use for anything, with AT2020USB, just a mic :)
thanks, i think the entire setup is like 80 euro more than the only at2020usb, i think it is worth it, thanks again!
I already own ag06 , is it good enough for recording vocals? I was thinking buying audient id44 but wondering do i need that? does this one has good preamps and sound quality?
Ag06 us perfectly fine for any recording.
@@RecordingStudio9 than you so much !! you saved me money !!happy new year
Can i ask you what Ohms your headphones are on? Ive got the same mixer with DT 770 pro 250ohms and the sound is terrible.
For that headphone you need headphone amp to drive it.
@@RecordingStudio9 Yeah i bet that is the problem, its almost okey volym but after i put the volym on halv its start getting like distorsion sound. Its really terrible, but i will buy a Amp and see if that helps! Thanks alot man!
Hello, can you use this when your PC is off? As a mixer? If yes, how?
Yes, just use micro USB connector to a power wall unit. All set effects are remembered and can be used as well.
@@RecordingStudio9 So you can't use it as an audio interface if it's wall powered?
Sorry I'll try to be clearer. Let's say I'm using a mic on the pc and I don't want to hear the mic. This I can do with any interface. But let's say the PC is off and I want to hear what I say on the mic, what would I need to do for that? Thanks
yamaha ag03 mk2 is not working the ag dsp
My older AG03 works even with the new DSP app. Make sure you download the latest version.
How to connect a AG03 to your’s camera.?
My video camera (Zoom Q4) has line level audio input, I just connect the line level outputs to my camera's audio input.
+Ar Tonal
Yes, looking at the expert options as well as comparison (Though AS03 I think is far better option) with Behringer Xenyx Q502USB of noise levels is on the pipeline.

I'm trying to keep my videos under 15 minutes and dividing them, so you don't have to watch the whole thing to find out about one option or a set of features.
I like those Lab Experiments ;) Professor Vatche .
Bro can i have if youll have an extra mixer not using. Im using starting for my cover
Learn about the different functions of the mode switch. Set it to mix or loop back.
Hi! Can I connect this mixer to an Android to live-stream on Facebook?
Exactly what I want to do, did you find this out?
@@Whitty43 Yes, with the help of an USB OTG. I use Note 9 and luckily it is included in the package. You also need a 3.5 mm aux plug to 2-RCA L R jacks audio cable in order to connect to a music source. Hope this can help :)
Nice tutorial.
if cats eat chocolat they die, just so you know.
Peace!
Glad you liked my song LOL!
So better invest in quality mic if you want better sound.
what mic do you suggest like a condenser wireless mic i just got my Yamaha YSP 2500 soundbar, thanks bro!
suggest me audio mixer for home recording with zero latency
To record yourself using microphone, guitar and keyboard, this is a great mixer. I still use it every day.
man can i use this for my electronic drums?
+ebe parco
Well yes. If your drum module has stereo line level out, then yes. Just connect to line inputs.
RecordingStudio9.com thank you man,..thank you,..nice video very informative :)
I have one problem. When I use headphones or use the speakers in the headset I have a noise that lasts for 10 seconds and disappears. If anyone knows what the problem is I would be extremely grateful
yes is normal with win 10, you need to update drivers.
And I finally know why electric guitars can sound different now. Always thought it was because there were different types of electric guitar. LOL.
Glad I could help.
Also the type of pickup and how the player plays effects the sound and the type of amp, cabs and yes even the type of guitar.
Hi, I'm a singer and I can't connect my PC where I have music and my smartphone where I stream live on TikTok. I don't understand how to make the connection, what cables are needed, where to insert the phone. Nobody helps me, they know how to do it. Can you help me please ?
As much as I like to help you, I don’t use TikTok or do any live streaming on my phone. This also depends on which phone you’re using.
Nice functions and makes nice your smelly cat song enjoyable. Thanks
Olá não consigo conecção com a placa e o programa, já aconteu isso com você?poderia me ajudar, Help!!!!
"Hello, I can not connect to the card and the program, has this happened to you? Could you help me, Help !!!!"
Not sure what the question is about?
28k views and no comments? Is it only me that can't stand the horrible background noise that is almost as strong music when the amp simulator is turned on? 10:00
Yes, the amp sim is not the best. I never used it.
