Margolis made peace with herself and her story ended, Her memory was forcibly imprinted onto natah?? So she could infiltrate The lotus was the result Natah never chose this, or did she?? Feeling the love for the children from margulis she changed into lotus and adopted the motherly role since void energy had sterilized her reproductive system she desperately wanted children so She gave up her mission In a linear timeline, natah was the innocent party?? Thinking in eternalism, Margolis can be "brought back" since the past is just as real as the future Lotus is the farthest in one branching timeline Natah is mid Margolis is the earliest
It’s interesting how much has been lost in their need to keep the female operator “pretty”; you completely lose the sense of how much time has passed, which the male Drifter’s haggard, VERY visibly-aged face communicates very quickly.
There are two types of people: Those who took the time to make a well thought out decision as to which form would be the best for the Lotus, considering all factors such as identity, past manipulation and aesthetic. And those who went: “Oh shit Big Mommy Milkers!” & went straight to Margulis.
I had bet 100% that it wouldn’t matter and DE would put the other skins behind a paywall anyway if I needed them so I just went with Lotus because that’s what I’m used to calling her.
I just now noticed the contrast between Alad and Hek. Hek, even as pompous as he is, refers to Kahl correctly by his serial number. Alad meanwhile never gets Veso's name right once.

In a sense, Natah is who she was born as, Margulis is who she was tasked to replace, and Lotus is who she chose to be. When the time came, I chose Lotus because I thought that she'd most want to be what she herself chose to be, different from her intended purpose or her place of origin.

This was my thought process for the end: Natah is her old self. An identity given to her by her parents. Her original self, but one she decided to leave behind. Margulis is her alter ego. She adopted this identity to survive and manipulate. It was a tool more than anything. Lotus is her chosen self. An identity she picked when the war was over. The identity of the Lotus is her cleanest slate and the right pick for her own future. Lotus is the only identity she herself picked, not given by birth (Natah) or adopted as a tool (Margulis). The only one which came to be purely by her own free will.
I agree with your thought process, but still chose Margulis bc she looked cool and wasn’t something I’d seen before haha. Plus I always choose the dark options on my first playthrough
I picked Margulis because it's her "mother" persona, the one she wore to make a found family with the Tenno. For me it's the one that she found the most purpose in. Each form she takes on has its good points and flaws. DE actually made a pretty complex character with her, but the threads are subtle.
It's been a while, but i believe i chose margulis because her Lotus identity left the freshest wounds on the Tenno and the system after the apparent betrayal. So as a choice for the voice to lead going forward, it would be harder to garner support under that identity. I think Margulis has always been something aspirational for Natah as who she's really wanted to be for us this whole time, so it felt like the right choice. For the system, it's the triumphant return of the original Tenno-mother after all this drama with the Lotus and her ties to the sentients as Natah.
I love that every person I have seen doing this quest so far, including myself, their first instinct on the final fight was to try and block the laser going to the Lotus instead of shooting Ballas. As for my decition; I picked Margulis because it is what Ballas ultimately wanted. He’s dead and I have what he always wanted, a way to spite the man from beyond the grave.
@@ubermaster134 I chose Lotus because that's what she grew into. She may have started as Natah, and been Margulis for a while. But Lotus? She became that of her own choice. I also love the "I got what you wanted. Suck it, Ball-Ass."
I've got one MASSIVE tip for you guys: Activate sound/music/ordis. Once a cutscene starts and you hear... nothing, like me, it's too late to change it.
IMO She was always Natah, it was the Orokin that turned her into the lotus it wasn't her choice (from the Ropalolyst fight: "But in truth, we were both imprisoned in Lua's belly. My light remade by the creators. I became a memory, a ghost. Reprogrammed to destroy my family, my people, my history.") She wanted children but never wanted to become another person. Thats why I went Natah. But yeah its open enough that people can decide themselves how they want to interpret it which is cool.
Except in Ropalolyst fight she was arguably already under the influence. How do we know she wasn't (unknowingly) lying about being forced to become the Lotus. It's not entirely clear now but I personally think she genuinely saved the Tenno. Don't think we can know for sure though
I always considered "Natah is her birthname" to be the weakest argument. It's the equivalent of deadnaming someone. Reducing them to their heritage as opposed to their deeds. What did the Lotus actually do as Natah that's wroth repeating? Becoming a spy? Becoming a sex doll for the galaxy's worst husband? It's a part of her past that she clearly rejects and is ashamed of because of the blood attached to it. She was created as Natah, a spy and a deceiver but she *chose* to become the Lotus. At this point it was no longer a mask for her but instead something she wanted to be. When the time came to execute the Tenno she refused to slay her children and has repeatedly chosen to help us since. The Lotus is the only reason the Tenno still live and her kindness has made her a symbol of hope in a chaotic galaxy. Even Margalus is a stronger candidate than Natah. The Lotus is *based* on Margalus and even if they are not the same person the Lotus clearly empathizes with Margalus' memories and found her kindness admirable. Something worth imitating. We so often emulate our heroes. We take usernames and alias' of historical figures. We dress up in costumes and choose avatars of characters we look up to, or think are just plain cool. We hope that by taking their name we'll become a fraction of the person they were and that's such a human thing to do.

I never thought I would care about Teshin, but after this quest I really want to see more of him. His gameplay was way too good to be limited to a 30 minute section of a single quest.

I think this quest is a really good jumping off point for DE, and I really hope that they capitalize on the potential here, now that it’s finally out of the way. The Grineer/Corpus/Teshin/Drifter gameplay was excellent and the community seemed to really love those sections, so I hope it sees some further implementation, maybe through PvP or different mission types? And all of the setup with the Void stuff and the LITERAL MAN IN THE WALL was fucking brilliant and definitely the highlight of the quest for me, I can not wait to see how they finally flesh out the void and all of its crazy shenanigans. That dialogue scene between the operator and the drifter had me real excited for the eternalism nonsense to come.
I think this is exactly the plan. This was a story quest and also was advertised/discussed as such ( I don't know where all the salt from other players about the lack of "endgame" comes from). Now they ended the Old-New War chapter and can move forward into a new story line. They did a lot of new-ground-testing with this. I can't wait for what is to com ein the next months!
@@quantumblur_3145 I think you'll find that I was using sarcasm, but it can be hard to detect sarcasm through written word so I can understand why you would read it as 'whining'. It would be a complete waste of resources and development time to work on another PvP segment when it has been proven 3 times that that isn't what people care about. I would far prefer that that time, effort and money goes into other segments of Warframe that people actually interact with.

The way I made my decision at the end was based on what would make sense as her true identity. She isn't Margulis and Lotus was just a disguise she used when she was essentially impersonating Margulis. I feel that Natah is closer to who she actually is. Plus, it seems symbolic for her to accept herself as she truly is, instead of hiding behind a mask. We made a truce with Hunhow and Erra (presumably) sacrificed himself for us to save Natah. Natah seems like the only choice to me as it's the only name that actually belongs to her. Lotus was a masquerade and Margulis isn't actually her at all. But there's a lot of nuance when it comes to this choice and even though I can come up with points supporting my choice, I can't really come up with points why the others are wrong.
Personally I considered her advice to us. Dream not of what you are, but what you wish to be. Natah was who she was born as, but she's changed and went her own way. Her family wanted to force her to regress back to who she was, but that wasn't a great thing for her. Margolis is who Ballas wanted her to be, and a form she took to comfort the Tenno. But it wasn't her, it was a persona put on for other's comfort. The Lotus is who she chose to be after Ballas disappeared, and isn't burdened by others expectations. But personally I consider one's identity to be who they make themselves through their choices, and not etched in stone by who they were born as. But at the end of the day, the only wrong choice, from a "treating the character as a person" prospective, is "big boobs are hot, so therefore Margolis". You can buy that skin for her, so reducing her personal quest for identity to mere sex appeal for your eyes seems just wrong.
The best part of the last choice is that she is ALL of them but simultaneously shes NONE of them. She has been manipulated every step of the way so she never truly chose her identity. None of them fit her perfectly so its honestly whatever you want her to be the most. Which is kinda funny because that also makes YOU the player another manipulator
Well put, and it's another reason I really don't like the entire character of the Lotus. She's one retcon after another, and throughout her entire life, she's been portrayed as nothing but a helpless victim of manipulation. As much as I loved the quest, and as much of a truly transcendent Warframe experience it was, I was unfortunately supremely disappointed with the story direction we ended up going down. I was so hopeful that the New War would be us tenno finally cutting the apron strings, either by killing Natah, or perhaps releasing her, but ultimately choosing our own path, not propping up yet another puppet leader. It really seemed it was heading this way, from the Second Dream being us barely able to walk on our own and having to be carried by Lotus, to the War Within and "outgrowing the cradle" as Teshin (may his soul find peace in the void) so well put it, to the Sacrifice, with us taking 100% control of the situation and acting on our own initiative, with no one giving us orders. But it didn't. We just went right back to mommy and bound our wrists with her apron strings again.
@@spamhere1123 I used to think that way about wanting the lotus dead, but I’ve realized that game of thrones tier “oh they were evil the whole time” writing is a thousand times worse than what we got here. All it took was playing a game that put ridiculous amounts of effort into its character writing, years long storylines and having a somewhat similar situation with a long standing character to make me realize that, and temper any disdain I had for the lotus.
I chose Natah for a few reasons, she was reprogrammed by the Orokin to be the Lotus, though after being her for so long I feel she wanted to be her even after her free will was destroyed. Margulis is just weird, Natah was Margulis for a very short period of time, acting like a spy by taking on her appearance before The Collapse. Natah is who she was at birth, not only that though it was the most natural her. But the biggest reason was Hunhow helped a lot and I felt the least I could do for the poor dude is give his daughter back.
In retrospect I like the Natah "ending" more (for the sake of Hunhow), but she just looks so disturbing in that form, I couldn't bring myself to choose that.
I've been trying to explain to my girlfriend why this video game quest has me so riled up , and the best explanation I could come up with was : "Imagine you already knew the first half of A New Hope, Jedis and all that but you are curious cuz they just hint at the coming story. And then they drop a 3 hour movie on you containing everything from Part 4,5 and 6." I agree with people that the pacing was horrible at times and they crammed way too much into this one quest, but man am I glad some shit finally happened in the story.
I definitely think the New War was very Star Wars. Ballas is Palpatine but with a more "abusive husband" mixed into it. Which was a great decision DE made
I haven't seen his ultimate decision yet but I think I'm probably going to choose Lotus in my playthrough. According to Eternalism (as I understand it), in every timeline Margulis is dead (Ballas' trophy he wanted to shape her into), and Natah was who she was created to be (Hunhow's tool for conquest). From the very beginning of the story, she told us who she was, who she decided to be. She is *not* Margulis. She *rejected* Natah. She already told us she is: Lotus.
For the final choice, I went with Natah, and I just wanted to share why I decided to go with that choice. I think the final choice is about your interpretation of the story to that point. For so long, the Lotus has repressed Natah, claimed that it was no longer her name (Quest: Natah), while trying to be a guide to the Tenno. During Act 2, we hear a lot more about her sentient side, and during the Sacrifice + Prologue to the New War, she returns to her Sentient nature. After The New War, I'd like to think that she's now realised that she's not just the Lotus, or Natah, but some combination of both. With both sides (Lotus / Natah) presented the way that they were, I thought it were only natural to bring them both together under the one person - there only remained whether to go with Natah's appearance + the Lotus' name, or the Lotus' appearance, but called Natah. The latter felt right, as we saw the updated Lotus appearance after Ballas' defeat - it just means I'll need to purchase the updated Lotus skin but I'm totally fine with throwing more money at this game after that awesome quest. It's a tough choice for all the right reasons that Broz touched on - all 3 names are totally valid, and it is in some way a philosophical choice. What did you guys choose?
Natah is Hunhow's manipulation and Margulis is Ballas' manipulation. Lotus is her own representation of herself and who she chose to be despite the influence of her father and false love.
See, I decided the ability to choose was a rending of the physical form of Natah. I actually spoke with a friend before choosing margulis, and while he chose lotus, he convinced me. Natah is a Lotus who remembers physical form, sh eis, technically, what lotus is. Lotus is a mental amalgamation of two missed identities that is a lie. And margulis is who lotus is in mind. Physically Natah Mentally Margulis And combined the lotus. Which is just a convenient cover for us, and for herself to pretend she is someone else. With Ballas gone nobody questions the name margulis. Thus, Lotus is best served as? Margulis.
You can change skin but not name. I chose Lotus after I already knew how the choice worked. At least they tell you theres customization but the choice is permanent. It could me more direct like "this is your name but your appearance can be changed" and for drifter vs dreamer i wish they said "We will reunite after Lotus is saved" or something.
it really does feel like they changed the story from what it was supposed to be. Ballas helping you and giving you the parasesis while also talking about how the great mimic queen tricked him but then becoming god emperor feels so left field.
To be honest, I felt that was a little strange ss well, but my internal justification is that his inner regret or alternate reality Ballas wanted to help us.
I figure it's because he gave us the plans when he was still in chains/weak in his position. Not sure if his plan at that point was to create a point of leverage to gain more power, an effort to spite those currently flexing power over him, or a way to get us to create and supply a tool to be used by him later on. I do wish there was something that we could see that showed his transition from the chained slave/pet, into someone with real influence and control. Would have been less jarring.
He's always been in it for himself at the cost of everyone else from the start. As far as the Paracesis goes, I think he only gave us the 'memory' of it so we could build it for him to use here.
@@InvokeZero the problem with every possible theory is that he literally banks on the fact erra decides to stop making him a slave and make him the head of the entire operation and let him rule the solar system for no reason when he not only helped the tenno by giving them a weapon that is effective against sentients and also not contributing in any way that helps the sentients other than getting lotus to turn into natah which ultimately didn't do much still since natah only emotionally hurt the tenno and not physically
Well mine had the blue hard and pink eyes and voice but you cant tell from face and buzz cut. Customizing immediately was a big feature. They didnt have my ponytail on release and the mephisto mask still not available for drifter
It still bugs me they used an older model of ballas for his final form so he goes from having a leg dangling and about to fall off to not having his legs then somehow regrows his dangling left leg

At the end I was on that screen for 2 hours before I had to choose between Natah, Lotus and Margulis... I choose Margulis and I broke my neutral alignment by a bit, it's not too bad because it can barely see the difference... Next time when there's a quest like this with choices first I'll get spoiled before playing the game and make choices that are not favourable to me😅
"We don't even know what the alignment means." It's logic vs. emotion, though I'm not sure which is which. I don't believe it's been used for anything yet.
I think the quest was just fine. The story and its pacing was all over the place for me, though I admit, the beginning and ending was awesome. I would have liked to see more of the "war" parts of the New War, more of Kahl, Veso and Teshin. Seems like wasted potential to only use them in their respective segments. Needless to say, the art and sound team did a stellar job.
i love how the ending choice is given the effect of eternalism which says to my brain at least we are not picking her personality or image, this is a choice of every timeline where at this point she chooses to identify as these 3 options
i really wish there was more war. after the teshin bit you get some brief warframe gameplay, fight a boss with teshin maybe, and itd even be cool if you begin the game as that rhino and just had to survive for as long as you could, and when he dies, it switches to another warframe, one more when they die, all the while grineer and other warframes are helping you out, dying, and finally when the last warframe you play as dies (think battlefield 1 storm of steel. my idea is virtually identical to that), khal, just to make his success look even more great, does his bit like normal i loved the story though and its subtext. absolutely had to choose natah at the end. margulis… thats a really really grim choice if you think about it. natah is symbolically a beautiful choice. i cried hard 🙈🤍
That would have actually been a pretty awesome thing to do - especially if the warframes you got to play as had their own loadouts and one of them was the Rhino with Corinth Prime. A real shame they didn't do that - that was a great idea.
Earned my sub. I was looking for a playthrough to find the ostrons in the tower since I was struggling and your only man who actually took the time to look for the ostrons.
Finally got to New War, and I was curious as to what people's reactions are to the 58:30 scene. The last time I saw a game do that wasn't a game, it was a visual novel called Fault in their 2nd part (Fault: Milestone 2) where they did it as a pretty damn convincing and disturbing intro which I really don't want to spoil.
I loved the quest and (unlike some people i see complaining on forums) i liked the change of pace from our regular bullet jumping everywhere to going into the trenches as a regular human. Rewards at the end are not too bad either, i can finally have a grown up operator (or drifter as it is called), we finally got our good old lotus back (if you chose to do so which i did ofc) and as a bonus we now have the option to land our orbiter in the drifter camp and use said camp as a base which is great (hoping for some base customizations down the line but probably unlikely). Where the update falls flat is the post war state of the system, visually nothing changes apart from some sentient derelicts being around every planet now (hoping we get missions on them at some point) and also no one even mentions anything about the fact that the war had happened. Missions wise we only got bounties in cetus and orb valis that are just reskins of the old bounties, even flow of the missions is the same (doing same old objectives and such) so i feel like not much effort has been put there. Also, everything magically looks exactly like before, no cetus tower destroyed, no venus without snow, nothing. Its like we went back in time honestly. Bottom line, story part was great but after its done you really don't have much new to do, just same old same old stuff we have been doing for years. Hoping for some new mission types in 2022 and maybe even some visual updates to areas that were affected (probably wont happen but one can hope). They had been working on this for 3 years at least and i overall feel like apart from story mission the update is underwhelming. We got way more in sisters update for instance
The base is big upgrade you can actually see time of day on earth which controls the world cycle timers. Makes it far more immersive and adds a huge area to decorate that I think has its own capacity. I have over 25 fortuna big crates i can now just make statues with and show off on orbiter tour. Also the roombas can path outside but not back to the landing craft
@@635574 yes i realized a bit after this that you can actually decorate the outside, really cool stuff. Its going to be my new base from now on i think
Reb said on Reddit and Twitter that the update was so big this was all they could get done this year. They've had to split it up into new war quest and new war content, and new war content will come next year. Also have you been to the plains or orb vallis? Unum is half destroyed and the snow is half melted my guy
Gameplay wise it was fine (though the instant fail stealth sections can go straight to hell), but my god the writing is... horrible. The more i think about it, the more frustrated and disappointed I am. Like, just one example of the many: where the hell did the last stand alliance came from? Corpus and grineer are mortal enemies for who know how long. We know that some of the grineer leadership blame the sentient on the tenno (eg. Sargus' transmissions during the Orphix event) and there's an open schism within the Corpus about the sentient: Alad V wants to ally with them, on the notion of "if you can't beat them, join them" while Parvos Granum is weary of the sentient and wanted to take over the Corpus to prep against an invasion like this. You would think that getting all of them to agree on an allied front would be part of the quest and a result of hard work but, nah... who cares, that just randomly, without even getting a mention, happens off screen.
At first i thought the whistles were only partially taken from the duviri trailer, but now you could go back and mix the trailer's ost with wally's/drifter's whistles
I didn't like the final battle sequence, but I did appreciate the final "kiss of death" and how the cinematic concluded that ordeal.... Very poetic. except the thing where she does the "magic powers" thing when the MIW shows up... like what's up with that? just effects? what's she doing? does it even accomplish anything? It just showed lights
@@matowakan you might be the one caring too much, if you felt the need to post that reply to my comment. I'm just commenting because I was enjoying the video dude. Discussing it is part of how I have fun/enjoy the content. Chill bro
I don't think she accomplished anything. MIW seems to be pretty much omnipotent. Lotus tried to shield us from him but it seems like he was just there to mess with us.
Lets not forget that despite an amazing story, with great visuals, the SOUND design for new war has been absolutely AMAZING. Also, I picked natah because ultimately, its WHO she is. More then anything else, being a sentient who chose to be something else is CORE to her identity. Even as the lotus, she still acknowledged herself to be natah, even if its a name she had forgotten. Choosing for her to be the lotus, is selfish. Its choosing who WE lost, not who SHE is. Choosing Margulis is choosing a memory, one that ballas was willing to kill an entire solar system over in jealous rage, and ultimately would have given ballas even just a tiny victory. The only other option, the second best one, I think, IS to choose the lotus, because ultimately it is what she became again on her own in her desperate last ditch effort to save her child, even if it isnt who she truly is.
I chose lotus not because of attachment, i mean i was ready to put her down, but because it's what she chose to be, her choosing to be lotus makes that part of her just as authentic as natah, ultimately she is who she is. -except margalis-
It's what I thought too. The only one who saw her as Margulis was Ballas, and even then he just saw her as a replacement for the real Margulis. as for the Lotus, she was akin to a mask she adopted in order to care for the tenno, fashioned in Margulis' image.
I think the parallels to The Second Dream aren't just for the Lols. "Dream not of what you are, but of what you want to be." It's not a question of who we think she IS, it's about who we think she wants to be. That still doesn't leave us with a clear answer since reasonable arguments can be made for all three.
@@marvinmoller1346 Yeah I mean, ultimately she just wants to be a mother, I think, and specifically for us becuase she see's similarities to us as void afflicted "orphans" (sentients being more or less orphaned as a whole by the orokin). The answers are really just who are you in reality, who are you in essence, and who are you based on. And they way I see it, is that the lotus is just who Natah became in order to adopt us, not who she truly is. It really is just a mask (or a helmet) as it were. The Lotus is the mask Natah wears to mimic Margulis. I do think there is a wrong answer, a true answer, and canon answer and that they arent necessarily the same. I think the true answer is Natah, because regardless of who she goes by, or who she based herself on, thats who she is. I think the canon answer is the lotus, because its the form she chose to defeat ballas, and it mirrors the choice WE made in second dream. I think the wrong answer is margulis, because its never who she was, or who she wanted to be, its who ballas wanted her, forced her, to become. Also, fuck Ballas I would never give him that win.
I chose Margulis because of what she said to us in the second dream: "Dream, not of what you are, but of who you want to be." so i let her become what she always wanted to be
Lotus is the perfect combination b/w peace and chaos...her normal side has show her compassion..her eidolon side has show us rage. No questions asked i selected her.
I chose Natah, because she was manipulated into becoming the Lotus/Margulis through fake memories. Lotus would be fine, but choosing Margulis feels like I would be doing what Ballas was trying to do, so I don't like it. I felt like she deserves her original name and also liked the idea of openly showing she's a sentient (accepting who she was, while also changing through what happened). The Lotus design also didn't mark enough of a before and after and I like being able to see her face
I feel like the choice you make at the end is not which personality she "becomes" but who she has always been, like with the time theory stuff on the zarimon, all of the choices are just as real as eachother, she always has been natah, she always has been lotus, she always has been margulis. The choice isnt a change its a revalation of what the truth has always been, the choice you are given is which truth you want to accept, which truth you want to continue into the future with. For instance if you choose margulis, she was never the lotus or natah but always margulis.
I agree that we should get voicepacks for our MOAs similar to what we saw during New War. It'd make MOAs fun to bring along, if only for the silliness of the comments they make.
I just realized that the opening cinematic with Ballas, lotus, and operator. The drifter is the alternate operator like natah lotus and sentient ballus
I would have liked more prep in form of scarlet spear or something similar to set the mood for the new war ngl, if there was a moment to bring it back it would be now lol, more events set with the setting would have been great, maybe divide the quest in parts, in between said parts coming out put events to set the war and shit, maybe one of you fighting the sentient aka scarlet spear before first part comes out, one in which you fight Narmar with operator only or something interesting like that lol, idk those are some ideas just for it to not feel like a quest but rather as something relevant to the world beyond the quest
Yeah the nataruk its a monster, both status and crit on a charged shot are 50% you basically can 100% both fairly easy with crit delay, galv aptitude and hammer shot.
the events as the drifter isn't an alternate timeline from what i'm gathering the whole talk in class about the theory that there are near infinite parallel universes and the void might be a way to traverse between them was a hint that us falling into the void triggered like a defense mechanism in some way tied to our void powers that like tagged in an existing version of us into our timeline. so when offered the choice to shake the hand and get void powers there is a number of realities where we shook the hand and a number of realities where we didn't shake the hand. and based of the fact of how dangerous the zarimon was at the time probably not a lot of versions survived after choosing not to shake the hand, and that little scene showing a bunch of version of us that shook the hand dropping dead unable to adapt to the void powers probably not a lot of realities with a survival outcome on both sides. considering how the drifter had no void powers until swapping back and based off the conversation between the two versions the drifter is from a timeline that we chose not to shake the hand and some how managed to survive all these years (thus why they are an adult cus they didn't end up frozen in a cryopod and their timeline is running parallel to the timeline the game takes place in). so, if the void is a means to travel between realities then when we got yeeted into the void something allowed the drifter to swap with us into our reality leading up to current events post new war.
My facotring on choosing Natah, was that she wasn't Margulis. Her trying to be Margulis is what led us here in the first place. While she became the lotus, we had learned too much about who she really was to let her go back to denying herself.
I just wanted to point out that fall damage is always in for the operator, even in regular missions. Not as crazy as it is in the story quest, holy fuck they ramped it up in there but it is always a thing in-game when it comes to the operator.
I thought Natah was the Lotus, before she became the Lotus. Natah was brainwashed into being Margulis by Ballas after he killed the real Margulis, and then she became the Lotus when the Orokin collapsed entirely.
I chose marguilis because it wasn’t someone she already was. Natah was enslaved, lotus was a false Identity she embraced, but marguilis could be a fresh start, you know?
I picked Natah, because the other two are results of Ballas' mindfuckery and I figured restoring the untainted personality is the most honorable option.
LMAO i had almost the same response to them making me choose operator or drifter, i was like "i have to choose NOW?" Edit: oh if only zime knew he could just get the other version of lotus and even better ones lol
don't think anyone has really mentioned the whole man in the wall wearing the operator's face uses the hand of the lotus that ballas chopped off with paracesis, repaired through quantum eternalism bullshit at the same time/state as full lotus to shake hands with operator/drifter and give them the void powers across spacetime/reality
(While playing as drifter) The Ratio of the drifter's "Mortality" to the difficulty and quantity of enemies, made that segment really enjoyable. It wasn't a horde shooter all the time. We would only get swarmed on key moments, which added to the excitement. However even when there are few enemies, we could still get killed if we're careless. In terms of Archons, Rhino felt easiest, Boreal felt hardest, snek was so-so. Snek had a mechanic that could one-shot you, but you're fine as long as you could avoid it. She could also teleport behind you, but that became predictable and you could just roll out of the way of her whip. They're all very doable, as long as you can avoid the obvious hard-hitting attacks.
I am glad they showed how strong the warframe actually are. When i went in to face the last archon i shreded it with my warframe and it was a slog to fight the other 2.
@@Wilsontripplets I felt exactly that way as well. It was a struggle as the drifter, but on my Warframe I literally one-shot it. Made me think for a second
@@thesomethingthatisntathing514 Hints were dropped in the prologues that Erra and Ballas were working together. Of course, any justification as to why Erra would cooperate with the man who started the Old War is not given, and Erra seems content with Ballas kicking his sister into the Void without complaint.
I just finished the New War like half an hour ago and I feel like I just went through a Destiny campaign. It started great and then nosedived in the last act. I've never felt so confused and whelmed by a quest in Warframe so far. For a quest that I feel was supposed to wrap up the Sentient and Ballas arc, it just leaves way more questions than it does answers (but not in the way that makes you begging for more content)
My Drifter looked exactly like me, except older, and sounded like me, but older. Weird that others got totally messed up. I also just played it last night. Was this a thing that got fixed in hotfixes?
I wish we could've kept the operator abilities like health and smoke bomb. Those were really cool features. Also why did they take away slide for operators lol
I enjoyed the first 50% - 75% of the quest, but I felt the quest should have stayed about the sentient invasion, and the whole Lotus/Ballas story should have been more of a side thing, and the narmer cult could have been confined to part of the star chart as it was interesting, but it should not have over-shadowed the sentient invasion. Hopefully we will get more of the gameplay introduced with Khal, Veso, Teshin and Drifter.
I had a little read on what the alignment compass is about. Sun aligned choices are choices that come from emotion, from passion, so these are the choices that are less thought through. Neutral aligned choices are generally the most thought through, they're neither passionate nor pragmatic. Moon aligned choices are pragmatic or idealistic, so like sun aligned choices they are driven by emotion but unlike sun aligned choices where emotion is more on the forefront, moon aligned is less pronounced, like a shadow. It's the principle of Yin and yang, all good is capable of evil, and evil is capable of good.
Zime you lied to us, in a previous videos you said this update would "change things", now the quest is done, everything is back to exactly what it was before like the war never even happened, and all we got as a "change" is that there is a new bounty where the enemies wear a funny hat....

Margolis made peace with herself and her story ended,
Her memory was forcibly imprinted onto natah??
So she could infiltrate
The lotus was the result
Natah never chose this, or did she??
Feeling the love for the children from margulis she changed into lotus and adopted the motherly role since void energy had sterilized her reproductive system she desperately wanted children so
She gave up her mission
In a linear timeline, natah was the innocent party??
Thinking in eternalism,
Margolis can be "brought back" since the past is just as real as the future
Lotus is the farthest in one branching timeline
Natah is mid
Margolis is the earliest
It’s interesting how much has been lost in their need to keep the female operator “pretty”; you completely lose the sense of how much time has passed, which the male Drifter’s haggard, VERY visibly-aged face communicates very quickly.
There are two types of people:
Those who took the time to make a well thought out decision as to which form would be the best for the Lotus, considering all factors such as identity, past manipulation and aesthetic.
And those who went: “Oh shit Big Mommy Milkers!” & went straight to Margulis.
Guilty as charged.
In the end it is a paradox so choosing any isn't bad but yes milkers

In a sense, Natah is who she was born as, Margulis is who she was tasked to replace, and Lotus is who she chose to be.

Pretty much my Drifter fashion
This was my thought process for the end:
Natah is her old self.
Lotus was the identity balas gave her she never chose to betray hunhow
I picked Margulis because it's her "mother" persona, the one she wore to make a found family with the Tenno. For me it's the one that she found the most purpose in. Each form she takes on has its good points and flaws. DE actually made a pretty complex character with her, but the threads are subtle.
I chose lotus prime XD.

I chose Lotus because she isn't Natah anymore and she was never Margulis, she became Lotus for the Tenno to guide them as a mother.
@@ubermaster134 we could argue she was brainwashed by balis to be the lotus though
I picked Natah because she has the coolest design
@@ubermaster134 I chose Lotus because that's what she grew into. She may have started as Natah, and been Margulis for a while. But Lotus? She became that of her own choice.
I also love the "I got what you wanted. Suck it, Ball-Ass."
The only justifiable reason to pick Margulis
@@marvinmoller1346 In the lore when Natah crossed the void she was reprogrammed by the Orokin to care for the Tenno, her sole purpose at birth was to destroy the Tenno since they were the only thing that could stop the sentient threat

I really wanted to see the necramech load into the slingshot, and launch into the ship lol
Feels like something they had to cut last minute
I wonder if, the way Titania came about as a by-product of Archwing’s re-scaling, Lavos came about as an outgrowth of the Drifter’s cooldowns
Wouldn't surprise me if the in-quest drifter was coded as if they were a warframe.
@@spamhere1123 They had to find a way to keep the lotus transmissions in missions.
I chose lotus because she made that choice of her own free will.
The start of the new war is so revenge of the sith.....I love it
I've been trying to explain to my girlfriend why this video game quest has me so riled up , and the best explanation I could come up with was :

And then they drop a 3 hour movie on you containing everything from Part 4,5 and 6." I haven't seen his ultimate decision yet but I think I'm probably going to choose Lotus in my playthrough. She already told us she is:
Lotus.
Physically Natah
Mentally Margulis
And combined the lotus. Which is just a convenient cover for us, and for herself to pretend she is someone else.
With Ballas gone nobody questions the name margulis. Thus, Lotus is best served as? Margulis.
Both very accurate interpretations with their own lines of reasoning!
I chose Margulis then bought the other choices with plat lmao
I wish Valkyr's Ripline could work with glaives like Teshin can
Dax inspired Warframe in the future?
3:21:13 when you been grinding in preparation just for lvl 20 sentinals
Love that not only can we switch between Operator and Drifter but we can also Customize the Lotus!
it really does feel like they changed the story from what it was supposed to be.
Pr9b just playing us like he was playing the lotus/natah.
He's always been in it for himself at the cost of everyone else from the start. As far as the Paracesis goes, I think he only gave us the 'memory' of it so we could build it for him to use here.
@@InvokeZero the problem with every possible theory is that he literally banks on the fact erra decides to stop making him a slave and make him the head of the entire operation and let him rule the solar system for no reason when he not only helped the tenno by giving them a weapon that is effective against sentients and also not contributing in any way that helps the sentients other than getting lotus to turn into natah which ultimately didn't do much still since natah only emotionally hurt the tenno and not physically
my drifter didn't look like my operator at all so I was confused till I watched some other people play
Well mine had the blue hard and pink eyes and voice but you cant tell from face and buzz cut. Customizing immediately was a big feature. They didnt have my ponytail on release and the mephisto mask still not available for drifter
Honestly I wouldn't have been able to tell either if I didn't have bright pink hair lol
I've mentioned this before somewhere but I'm glad I waited until everything was fixed to play this quest
It still bugs me they used an older model of ballas for his final form so he goes from having a leg dangling and about to fall off to not having his legs then somehow regrows his dangling left leg
She was created as Natah, a spy and a deceiver but she chose to become the Lotus.
The Lotus is based on Margalus and even if they are not the same person the Lotus clearly empathizes with Margalus' memories and found her kindness admirable. Something worth imitating. We so often emulate our heroes. We take usernames and alias' of historical figures. We dress up in costumes and choose avatars of characters we look up to, or think are just plain cool. We hope that by taking their name we'll become a fraction of the person they were and that's such a human thing to do.
Well said, how does this not have more 👍🏼
@@hireikana18 Thank you. I'm glad someone gets it.
At the end I was on that screen for 2 hours before I had to choose between Natah, Lotus and Margulis... I choose Margulis and I broke my neutral alignment by a bit, it's not too bad because it can barely see the difference...
Next time when there's a quest like this with choices first I'll get spoiled before playing the game and make choices that are not favourable to me😅
"We don't even know what the alignment means."
It's logic vs. emotion, though I'm not sure which is which. I don't believe it's been used for anything yet.
You handled those archons expertly. They barely stood a chance.
They most likely changed the order of things towards the end.
i love how the ending choice is given the effect of eternalism which says to my brain at least we are not picking her personality or image, this is a choice of every timeline where at this point she chooses to identify as these 3 options
Yo I thought I was the only goof that took 5 hrs to complete this mission lmao.
Took me about 6 hrs myself, took a lot of cigarette breaks and had dinner in between.
@@cyber2cyke Same, I was outside smoking joints and every time I was just standing there quiet unable to process what just happened lmao
Pretty sure 5 hours is the standard completion time
I broke it up over the weekend. I don't play video games for more than a few hours at a time, so I had a lot of time to digest stuff overnight.
Going through the Veso portion makes me think that Corpus life is filled with customer service and constant ads.
i really wish there was more war. after the teshin bit you get some brief warframe gameplay, fight a boss with teshin maybe, and itd even be cool if you begin the game as that rhino and just had to survive for as long as you could, and when he dies, it switches to another warframe, one more when they die, all the while grineer and other warframes are helping you out, dying, and finally when the last warframe you play as dies (think battlefield 1 storm of steel. my idea is virtually identical to that), khal, just to make his success look even more great, does his bit like normal
i loved the story though and its subtext. absolutely had to choose natah at the end. margulis… thats a really really grim choice if you think about it. natah is symbolically a beautiful choice. i cried hard 🙈🤍
4:42:05 - looks like MitW is now inside recombinant Lotus.. She seems to have the same smirk as the MitW as he snaps out of our screen.
bruh this took me time, next time just call him wally like everyone
Finally got to New War, and I was curious as to what people's reactions are to the 58:30 scene. The last time I saw a game do that wasn't a game, it was a visual novel called Fault in their 2nd part (Fault: Milestone 2) where they did it as a pretty damn convincing and disturbing intro which I really don't want to spoil.
Im glad i wasnt the only one stuck forever in deep thought over who to choose and why.
@@Warfoki just because you think something is important doesn't mean it actually is important.

@@shirshanyaroy287 yeah, it did feel like a troll vibe lol
Near the end it was like "boo"
@@KumaBones she also moved us away from the sun and saved the entire origin system
I chose Margulis because of what she said to us in the second dream: "Dream, not of what you are, but of who you want to be." so i let her become what she always wanted to be
"Oh i hate that" accurate.
weird wall thing is missing a finger.... is that to imply its the reliquary? where did the zariman get its then?
Since it's a piece of void time, presumably there's an infinite number of the same finger to be used in drives
@@Wing0fSilver accurate
I remember recording those breathing/wheezing sounds like it was yesterday.

@@arsarma1808 Kahl sneak good, hehehe
@@leviklopfenstein8158 For my brothers...
It'd make MOAs fun to bring along, if only for the silliness of the comments they make.
ngl the music during the choosing of the voices made me take even longer than it would have without the music. I need a 3 hour version.
I just realized that the opening cinematic with Ballas, lotus, and operator. The drifter is the alternate operator like natah lotus and sentient ballus
Thank you for this upload man. I was pissed off at some parts because there were no instructions on what to do. Btw marg is mighty fine
I would have liked more prep in form of scarlet spear or something similar to set the mood for the new war ngl, if there was a moment to bring it back it would be now lol, more events set with the setting would have been great, maybe divide the quest in parts, in between said parts coming out put events to set the war and shit, maybe one of you fighting the sentient aka scarlet spear before first part comes out, one in which you fight
Narmar with operator only or something interesting like that lol, idk those are some ideas just for it to not feel like a quest but rather as something relevant to the world beyond the quest
The should have just had a sun beam pierce the necramech in that cutscene, I definitely would.
I think it was just the heat shorting out the mech's systems.
Can't wait to see Rebecca stats on how long people took time to choose Lotus.
Lotus is a false identity but Margulis ain’t? lol
I picked Natah, because the other two are results of Ballas' mindfuckery and I figured restoring the untainted personality is the most honorable option.

don't think anyone has really mentioned the whole man in the wall wearing the operator's face uses the hand of the lotus that ballas chopped off with paracesis, repaired through quantum eternalism bullshit at the same time/state as full lotus to shake hands with operator/drifter and give them the void powers across spacetime/reality
(While playing as drifter)
The Ratio of the drifter's "Mortality" to the difficulty and quantity of enemies, made that segment really enjoyable.
