Hey there, thank you so much! I would say that you are just going to have to dive in but start slow so you don't get any injuries. I'd look at cardio (walking, jogging, running, HIIT), weight lifting, and rucking.

I have the JK fire inlander custom boots and I highly recommend. They are on the more expensive side but can be fully rebuilt. Also they are very comfortable for boots

I am not a firefighter. BUT this video was informative. I have worked as a police officer and with a vol. EMS service, I am convinced many people do NOT appreciate first responders the way they should. Thank you much for these videos, very much!!!!!!! AND please stay safe if you go back out on the fire line. THANKS again............................

I have a future video idea, which is a list of recommended electrolytes to take during the season. So far, my least favorite is Gatorade because they put way too much sugar and other junk in each pack. Even liquid IV contains considerable among of additives.

      4 waters to every Gatorade.

@@petergonzalez1719 Agree. In general, more than just sips of Gatorade is asking for trouble. Full Disclosure... I never did Gatorade (30 years USFS Fire) and never had a bad experience. But I watched a load of guys and gals on fire assignments learn to regret and get off Gatorade.
In an earlier period of life, while working in a fiberglass lay-up "sweat shop" (literally) I did do salt tablets in moderation. But I also never took salt tabs during my Wildland Firefighting career.

    Ronni,
Granted, Two Rivers is a long distance from Anchorage... However, if you have time, consider getting in touch with veteran, long distance Sled Dog Racer, Ryne Olson at Ryno Sled Dog Kennel. Ryne's husband, Derek, is a BLM Jumper and a pilot who owns a bush plane. Loads of other cool stuff going on at Ryno Kennel and the Two Rivers area.
Thanks for the Q & A. Please continue to rock on!
