Some other requirements to be a federal Wildland Firefighter are getting finger printed. Also some positions require push up's, pull up's, sit up's, and 1.5 mile run, all in a specific time.
@@StormzxzApexClips If you go to USAJOBS online, currently there are Hotshot, Helitack, Wildland Firefighter, Forestry Tech. positions available, with the USFS, FWS, BIA, NPS, BLM.
😱wait are you back to making wildland videos!? OH MY GLOB welcome back! (spend the beginning of spring going to a wildland job fair and got to talk to the US fish and wildlife, BLM and the US parks service also took a hike to see the pike hotshot base in colorado but wasnt sure if i was allowed to actually go to the base so i made it to there fence)
I am! I had a lot of people reach out asking for help so I said "Welp, let's get back to it!" Nice! Any job offerings come out of the job fair? LOL I'm sure they'd have been cool with you checkin the place out. I'm going back to the springs in June, maybe I'll take a trip over there when I get into town to check the place out and get an interview or two if they are at the station.
@@wildlandfirefit lol yea fish and wildlife was very helpful and fun still not ready for the pack test but it gave me a idea of agencies to look for fish and wildlife was hiring for a lot of the Air Force bases in Colorado. I plan on a trip to monument coming up to actually go and see the BLM said that if there isn’t any no trespassing signs your allowed to go to the base
Did a pack test 6 months ago. 39 minutes. I’m getting old 😂. I’m a pretty good hiker but fast walking on flat ground with 45lbs on my back is still a damn good challenge.
Be on top of Cardio, practice the pack test on steep hills, hydrate 24/7, do body workouts only, run constantly and have some fun when you get a roll out💯
I’m so lost with the whole terminologies they use within the application, the only things I have under my belt is being a hard worker.. I’ve worked outside any many terrains of weather. And taking fire science online courses. I do not have a red card.
Can you please do a video on GS levels for DNR/Forest Service. (I have 5 seasons as a private contractor, FF1/ENGBT or ENGB Cert. (Not sure if it was filed before my injury) But I am looking to come back)) What grade should I look to apply for.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to break in whites boots just got my first pair and was gonna break them in at work but there still to tight ( not bad tight just need to be broken in and leather loosen up) any suggestion would be helpful on that
Just keep wearing them. Wear them on a two week assignment, you may get blister's and need mole skin, tape, band aids', but they will break in. Also keep them clean, and apply O'benauf's oil. That will help them be more soft and flexible. Hopefully you got the right size boot's for you. They should fit like a glove, but not so tight you can't stand it.
@@bobhanson3275 yea I got them fitted there tight where they need to be and slid on easily (which is what the shop I got the boots from suggested) so it’s mostly I guess gotta wear them over and over and over again so they expand more I know once they expand more they will be more comfy
Hi my name is Trenton and im 16 from Massachusetts and i would like to know if i could still be a wildland firefighter if i had heart surgery when i was born its all fixed now and ive been working extremely hard to make sure that im fit and healthy and i was wondering if you could give some tips on applying and wheres the best places to be a wildland firefighter
If you try for a FED. GOV. job, there application's read something like " You will have to pass a complete physical, and, you can't have ANY condition, that would make you a risk to yourself or other's".
@bobhanson3275 thank you so much what if my condition is all fixed up now and I can do more than most people can would that help me some how I've been trying my best to work up to doing that 3 mile run in under 45 and so far I've ran a 4 minute mile I have no clue if that's good or not
I don't pretend to reply for Ronni but... Could be a problem. The finger printing step is the onset of a very basic FBI background check. If you are flagged there you may or may not be toast. Give it a shot any way. Good luck. Speaking for others (not myself) many peeps, with wrong decisions in their past, have gotten their lives on a consistently positive path in Wildland Firefighting. Sadly, not all but many...
The job is cool and all but so is working in mines of West Virginia. Also, are we really going to put our long term health on the line without any real monetary compensation & health benefits package? And youre away from your family? Really..😂😂😂 Train up convicts for this job and reduce their sentences. That would be fair. I can't think of a reason to do this work.
