  • The Gulf Country is one of Australia's last frontiers and where the last of the real Outback Truckers run. It stretches from the western edge of the Great Dividing Range in far North Queensland across endless plains, spectacular river systems and vast saltpans into the Northern Territory. This remote region is where Australia's outback meets the ocean at the southern end of the Arafura Sea around the Gulf of Carpentaria.
Here in the Gulf, land, sea and climate combined become a relentlessly harsh taskmaster never completely conquered by either man or machine. The people who inhabit the Gulf are a tough breed; carving out a precariously balanced relationship with a landscape that still fosters the legendary pioneer spirit of the true Aussie battler...
We're heading up into the Gulf Country with Hawkin's Freight Transport's Gary Bishop and his C509.

Northern Australia is awesome! Been there a few times and love it. Isolated, rough and can be dangerous. Nothing like it

North Queensland is pretty, needs more people and infrastructure though... Pave those roads, build more bypasses... The UK is overcrowded, import a few million from there... At 60 million on that tiny landmass they will not miss them... You could build a paradise up there!"
Get lost Vivian there is enough people here already. Keep it closed and keep it beautiful

Why? What is wrong with natural landscapes coupled with a limited population. There is a reason why you said North Queensland is pretty. Why change it?

I doubt most Brits could handle the heat and humidity 365 days a year.
