- In this November update of the Dawlish Sea Wall, you will see the huge changes to the Coastguards end of the wall.
Jack Brookes from Bam Nuttall also shows us the plans for the railway station over the coming months.

Jack knows so much detail on all aspects of the project. It is really impressive.
Such a shame to see Brunels stone work being covered up but it is "needs must'" I guess.
The gas light lamp posts could be retrofitted with new light fittings and used along the seawall where you come under the bridge or even along the promenade around at Gentlemans beach.

All the charm of the Berlin Wall circa 1972. Couldn’t even be bothered to texture the wall in a nice pattern motif sculpture with scenes built into it .
Gruesome edifice perfectly in keeping with modern construction.
Money would be better spent on a inland course

Superb. Most informative and another masterly performance from Jack. He really does know his stuff. Can't wait to get down to Devon to see the transformation from the times I took my kids there for holidays in the 70s and 80s.
Amazing progress, Dawlish but not as we know it! Glad I took photographs before it all started, could never have imagined how it would change. Also never knew the columns were the original town gas lights. Thanks again Neil for the video update, your a star. 🙏👍

Excellent, informative, film.
My wife and I visited Dawlish about three weeks ago whilst staying nearby in Teignmouth. We were massively impressed by all the work taking place and the skills of the engineers, especially those doing welding. It will be good once the station is renovated and painted as at the moment it’s looking very neglected and tatty.
I remember going down to that area 45 years ago and letting the winter waves smash over us as we stood next to the sea wall. Full waterproofs and wellies were essential wear! Dangerous, but great fun 😂😯😂

Fond memories with my partner , last walked this section in 2020. walking from Dawlish Warren to Dawlish and got the train back. Hope to return in the near future. Keep up the good work. Like watching updates ECT.

I have been following all articles & Beach Cam videos since Phase one via the Blenheim Cam. Fascinating viewing of the construction progress. The day before the Sea wall Breach in 2014 I was travelling home by train after a week in Torquay so was lucky not to go through the Bus replacement shenanigans to Exeter. Always visit Dawlish when I am staying in Torquay for a week & many a beer or six has been had at Dawlish Marine Tavern over many years & with a bit of luck will be again in March 2022. Looking forward to see the new Sea Wall in person & see the great job that's already been completed. I can't help but think of the logistical nightmare when the construction of the other Sea Wall defence after Parsons Tunnel will start. Thanks again Dawlish Beach Cams for another great update. Is the new Sea Wall carrying on towards Red Rock?

Great progress considering having to work to the tides and any local or Network Rail restrictions. It will be great once complete and hopefully will be good for a century or more, sea levels and global warming permitting.
Ironically, pretty or not, it looks as though the strengthening work going in will (eventually) be the saviour to Dawlish seafront as I think the sea would have taken all that land back into the water over the last 80 years. In the years to come when it’s all landscaped, I think it will become a “must visit” location once again.

Excellent work. My only concern is , is the wall high enough ? considering the high waves that crashed up near the houses before the sea wall was built .
Interesting update but Although great progress had been made and but still a huge amount to do. Didn't realize was going on into 2023.

They are going to totally rebuild that area as far as I can tell. Network Rail have video of the design on their website
What about the footbridge? Will that get a similar clean up and new SS railings? Needs deweeding, bridge needs painting.

It seems a shame that the discolouration on the panels is inconsistent. Then the top cap looks like concrete that will not weather the same way as the panels.

It will still not be suitable for overhead electrification. They need a tunnel between Exeter and Newton Abbott.

I grew up in Dawlish but left to live abroad twenty years ago. This is sickening to see. It is hideous and will have completely destroyed any form of summer trade and all of the old beauty of what was the Dawlish seaside. You have built a prison wall. All my childhood years of fun by the sea are now gone, all in the name of profit. You should all be ashamed of this gross vandalism but I doubt you are. The whole character of the once famous Dawlish seaside is now dead! Shameful wanton vandalism. I could never live in Dawlish again. I thought of going back to visit but this is too upsetting.

Totally agree is vile. Got my head bitten off by ice cream parlor lady in August when commenting how vile looking the wall is. She snapped back saying how it will save the town. Maybe she is right but at what cost to the holiday trade! Network rail have killed the boat trade that used to originate at Dawlish due to their butchery. The project has been done on the cheap, they could of made the structure more aesthetic pleasing... Least we have our memories of Dawlish...

They have. There are ramps for both beaches. They are the other end of this promenade. Once completed, you'll be able to get from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren no problem.
You Ruined it for us for taking photos of trains now I love the sea wall at Dawlish now you putting a fence up next to the railway line I used to stand at that Bridge taking photos that’s why I used to go to Dawlish in the summer saw can photograph steam locomotives best place to take them
There are still plenty of places you can take photos along the wall.
Protecting the line and the town are a bit more important than getting a few pretty pictures.
It's about PRIORITIES!
