I saw this comment as I was reading through at the start of the stream, and mentally put a reminder to notice when the stream got to that point. Eventually it did, and *that* message happened, and I was prepared for things to go off the deep end. But then seemingly nothing happened. I thought maybe you'd put the wrong timestamp or something. Then. It continued. Thank you for the warning but it was too late
Alchemy is so slept on in skyrim. So, with alchemy by the time you live riverwood you have 3-8 extra healing potions, and 20+ more before you leave whiterun, without even having to steal anything, and it's not going to take very long either, so time to healing potential is amazing (The time doug spent looting whiterun is likely around the same amount of extra time this takes). Especially considering you will level at least once, probably get the first alchemy perk before the majority of your potions are made at whiterun, especially if we optimize. You should have at least 6 extra full heals by the time you leave whiterun. That's a full ten minutes of healing from when you leave whiterun and that's on the lower end of what you can do, again with no bounty, and the cost is less than 100 gold for that, which you'd easily get enough loot to pay for anyways. You can also collect other ingredients on the way too and make potions to sell, giving you money to buy ingredients to cook some helpful shit if loot doesn't pay enough and you don't already find ingredients, but I don't know skyrim cooking, just alchemy, gonna need some help on expanding on this strat from a skyrim gordon ramsey.
Doug is not good enough at videojames to have planned even half of this. He didn't even think cooking was worth it even though he was already grabbing all the food he could lmao. I love Doug('s content) but he can be a real doofus at times.
Alchemy has 2 weaknesses though: it's boring and lame. Firstly, the actual mechanics of alchemy are just "put things together on the table. Repeat." which isn't exactly thrilling gameplay. Secondly, it sort of ruins everything if you've just got an infinite supply of potions. There's no exxcitement if you can just consistently insta-heal yourself through everything.
@blanktester I find it funny more often than not, like during this stream when he keeps going the wrong way toward the bandit camp after literally JUST finding it.
In Skyrim passive health regeneration is based on %max hp, not static, meaning gettng more max HP would help him in this challange a lot. "Health regenerates slower while in combat (0.49%) and faster outside combat (0.70%). This means that a high maximum health will increase the overall amount of health regained per second. For example, a character with 100 hit points will regain 0.7 hit points per second, while a character with 400 hit points will regain 2.8 hit points per second."
2:49:51 - That actually is a real thing that gets *super* messed with by those kinds of messages. My partner goes through that, and it's very hard for her to re-ground herself back in reality if that happens
yeah, i was really disappointed when doug's reaction was to deny that it was even a real thing, and then half of chat said to "deal with it" as if it isn't a debilitating disorder. i don't think doug realizes that the basis of that joke (why it's "funny") is that there are people who actually experience this problem (hence the joke is really just ableist). i wish he and chat had taken it more seriously.
Honestly I was really disgusted by twitch chat. It costs nothing to be kind, the amount of people being dismissive was really upsetting. I thought Doug's community was better than this.
I missed the stream, but I think it is genuinely hard to actually hate Doug. He's just a really chill dude that raises money for a sea otter, how can you hate that? Also, disliking his content is not hating, its just not your thing. But Doug is great, more than my personal opinion, he is just objectively a really cool dude. Edit: After watching the VOD, what on Earth happened to Twitch chat this day lol
DougDoug: You're my haters! He's learning! I can't wait for him to realize The side charcter randomly bans his follows and The "Dirty grimy smelly untrained unwashed dogs" are so bad that it's reasonable response to their actions. The community is so toxic he can't have haters. (Yes, I know he realized it at one point)
I understand that this would not funny at all, but i guess some alchemy for health potions would make the job easily done. The alchemist table is right across the river from helgen's keep entrance
you would still take damage while in the cooking menu since the game doesn't pause, and the cooked foods still give barely any health, plus most of them require salt. So it would be a net loss in health
@@stoopidapples1596 I'm no expert on cooking in skyrim but he had salt, vegetables and meat, which is enough to make most stews. Cooking would have taken max 5 secs if he just cklicked on his highlighted options with the potential to 10x or 25x increase the benefits of his ingredients
The TTS was completely relevant. The randomness became the side bit of the stream i won't have anyone disparaging us basement dwellers. Doug may kidnap us but he may never take our voice

It's probably easier if you know Skyrim locations well enough. Despite how many hours Doug has, he doesn't seem to actually have a lot of experience past the opening.
God. I hate Doug so much. He refuses to acknowledge he's getting old and so constantly brings up his blonde hair to seem young and relateable. It's so hard to watch someone going through a mid-life crisis.

Chat was so goddamn unhinged in this one.
I scroll up to check and read "Eat Nazeem"
you're definitely right
This is definitely the most unhinged stream I've watched in a long time. The challenge was really cool though.
That makes things even better

Plot twist: Dougs character is suffering from extreme cheese withdraw and thats why hes taking damage every second
I'm glad Doug is accepting of his horse tilt addiction. The first step to recovery is accepting you have a problem.
i completely forgot this stream happened because chat derailed it so hard. best worst best stream of the century
I thought this would be a fun silly Skyrim challenge but I did not expect a frontrunner for worst stream of the year. 11/10
