- The Rococo Art Movement is full of fun, flamboyant themes and ideas. This video starts with a summary of what led led up to the Rococo, including the influence of Baroque, the shift of the monarchy to the aristocracy, and the French Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. Then it dives into the characteristics of Rococo art, with a full analysis of Fragonard's The Swing.

Thanks for watching! What do you find interesting with the Rococo art movement?
What I find interesting is how the light and airy feel of the Rococo art movement is still present today through social media images, specifically family photography. Social media, at least in the past few years, has been using ''light and airy'' filters to give off a ''easy breezy, life great'' attitude. Though it may be true that people posting these types of photos, could be hiding or exaggerating reality, it's interesting how the same effect/style from Rococo is still being used today to covey the same feelings.
@@mirandamaldonado5649 amazing analysis. Thanks for sharing 😊
The absolute beauty of it. It's all about beauty and indulgence. When I look at art I want to feel relaxed and transported to somewhere exciting and Rococo is the personification of that.
I believe rococo and baroque are not art movements but they are art period. Please confirm or tell me how it is an art movement if you think it is.
The Swing is my favourite painting! So glad I found your video 🥹💞 Rococo is by far the greatest art movement in my opinion
The Rococo movement is by far my favorite Art Movement. It’s so delightful!
It really is!
This is so pleasing! I truly love that the artists of the time while paid by the aristocracy also had this rye sense of humor and sarcasm. They were documenting the life and ideals of aristocracy but were also very bold in their mockery of the escapades of the rich in such a politically charged time.
I’m so glad you started with Rococo!
I loved this. So informative and digestible, thank you!
All the "f" words!! Haha LOVED the overview! Very easy to remember and awesome takeaways.
Glad to hear it!
Hello, I'm French and for my blog, I need the eyes of foreigners, so thank you very much for the history lesson, very good didactic video
im studying for my finals in art history and didnt quite understand rococo, your videi helped me to understand! youre awesome, thank you so much
You are so welcome. Best of luck!
I love the way you explained everything. I, being a person who knows little and nothing about art, I thank you for this video. I am left wanting to know more and more :)
I've always loved this movement, as can be seen in my romantic art. You have explained it so well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Rococo is true greatness, but I must add that it truly pales in comparison to the highest, most grandest form of art - Socialist Realism. ;)
Seriously though, I cannot deny that Rococo is top tier. It is truly unique in that it is a window into a completely new world of culture that is almost completely unrelatable to nearly all modern perspectives. The history, the stories, the emotions - all add to the grandeur of the movement. Even these small glimpses into the lives of the French aristocracy seem ridiculous, possibly unbelievable if not for the reality of these remnants and artifacts of their wealth such as Versailles. I would love to visit France and be able to feel just a taste of that Rococo energy (although we'll be sure to stay far, far away from that "No no no" :D) Thanks for the great video Mrs. Alder!
she is the best i can say this her facial expressions and her sentences i have seen these repeatedly
I wish that I had found your channel months before my art exam than just a couple of days before. The way you are delivering everything is very referring compared to the academy, and you ignite my interest as well. Many thanks :)
Great video and so helpful for the test I have this week. Thanks you!
Thank you for making this video! It really helped when I had to learn for my art history exam. It gave me inspiration when I had almost completely lost enthusiasm for studying history. I like how you explained the reasons and ideas behind Rococo.
I finally have a crush helping me with my art history assignments!🌸
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
i never studied rococo before and the difference between rococo, the romance era and avant garde confuses me a lot. TIME TO BINGE !!!♡♡♡♡
This was a really interesting video! I want to study art history once I graduate high school (I'm currently in 9th grade so I've got a ways to go!) and I love that I can learn background before I pursue it. I personally love rococo art for its colors, the playfulness of it, and the elaborate details. Love the video :D
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed this video! I may be biased, but I think you'll love studying art history 😊
This was my first time watching you. Thank you very much. I learned a lot.
my new favorite channel!!
I think this is the best explanation video.. Please make more videos on art history..
You are a good teacher.
Love the way you explain things, look forward to watching more videos!
Thanks, stay tuned!
You've explained it very well thanks alot exactly for the answer of how to lead a good or unhappy life
Love the way you present the material. Especially repeating the main points. Although the rococo is not political art, it does show the excesses of the aristocracy that led to the French Revolution at the end of the century. I like the colors and find it enjoyable to enter a little fantasy world for awhile. Lifts up my spirits. Have subscribed to your channel.
Thank you! And thanks for sharing your thoughts. Welcome to the channel!
Thanks for this video. Very interesting !!
I have my art history exam tomorrow about rococo so using this to help me study :)

Gavalanting? It's gallivanting, but you're cute and smart, so I love it. I'm an art historian, I think you did an excellent job. Yes, even on my time off, I love art history so much that I watch random art history videos. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, glad you caught that...I was wondering when someone would 😊

I thought rococo came after neo classical
Hi Fallen, the Neoclassical art period technically comes after Rococo. When we talk about art periods and movements, there is always overlap and transition periods. Rococo took off in the 1730s and flourished until the 1770s. Neoclassical started in the 1760s, reached its height in the 1780s and '90s, and then continued until the 1840s and '50s.
If you haven't watched my video on the Neoclassical art period, here it is: th-cam.com/video/ZZpsakljOAQ/w-d-xo.html
