I use them as a unit to punch through a spear line for cav or just more well rounded infantry. They are really potent, especially against anti cav but the lack of armour means that being in prolonged combat for too long will cause them to melt like butter.
Legionary Cohort is too well rounded a unit for most infantry in the game. Bastarnae Mercs were doing very well until they ran into this brick wall. Still, for some of the factions that can see these Mercs during their campaign, they're handy. On my Macedonian Campaign for example, I liked having them to plug gaps or act as shock infantry. They're flexible in their movement and formation unlike the Levy Pikemen / Phalanx Pikemen that would form the bulk of my battle line.
Thanks for the comment. Yea, guarding phalanx flanks seems the best use for these. And agreed on the Legionary Cohort. The power spike from Early Cohort to Legionary Cohort seems rather big :)
Funny that there is always a dude that runs out to the side, doing absolutely nothing. You should end the video with two units of the Bastarnae fighting one unit of Urban Cohort, one from behind, just to see if they can pull it off.

For Frodo...
**charges the enemy like a main character**
Indeed :D Thanks for the comment.
And is also the first to die. XD
Congratulations on a very quiet 4k! The Gods have favoured you. The algorithm is crushed! Your victory is complete!
Only 1k more to go and we have the Legion numbers. ROMA AETERNA!
Thank You! I am planning to do a special series for 5k, and I guess 40k would give some interesting opportunities ;)
@@josephpaul0484 Indeed. Would it be Legionaries only challenge? :D Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comment. Yea, seems like a good one for flanking :) Thanks for the comment.

Great shock unit tho!
True, though imo it takes casualties quite easily :) Thanks for the comment.
@@qualityoldgames7721 Yeah! probably a good flanking unit
Normaly bastarne need some piercing armor like chosen axemen😊😊
Agreed on that :) Thanks for the comment.

@@kakkarotozrakiem7873 Actually there is in Germania's roster "Chosen Axemen" :) Thanks for the comment.
Superb fighters
Quite good :) Thanks for the comment.
Never put much value into these guys, they always struck me as air fodder. Glad to see them do so well though.
Thanks for the comment. Yea, that 2 HPs and warcry helps but imo they are not that reliable :)
Saxon Hearth troops vs Roman units!
Thanks for the comment. I will add that to TO-Do list :)

I guess that would be interesting :D Thanks for the comment.
Maybe try using spearmen defensive? They usually do better this way
Hmm. I guess that has to be tested at the very least :) Thanks for the comment.
